Personalize your burger! OK Mar 30, 2014

Deburg Signature Burger $18.50. We decided to try their signature burger as it has everything from the beef patty to the portobello mushroom to the crispy bacon. For me, I feel that the determining factor of a tasty burger is the beef patty. The Deburg signature uses a 200g Australian grass-fed striploin patty which was quite juicy!

With that said, I would probably return back to Deburg to give their other burgers a try. Deburg burger also serve as a good alternative to the other choices in the coffee shop. And you can also add the toppings according to your own preference! I love to make my own style of burger which is like a stacking high burger with lots of different toppings in between!

Restaurant week disappointment  Cry Apr 17, 2013

Chef D' Table is located in Chijmes. Chef D' Table offers modern European cuisine with Asian flavors infused in them. Having heard much positive reviews of the place, we were excited to try it out.

Dinner at Chef D'table was $35++ for restaurant week. You can upgrade your appetizer to Lobster Bisque at additional cost of $6++ as well as your main course for Angus beef rib-eye at additional $12++.

We ordered a Wasabi and soy marinated salmon. The salmon was marinated as we could taste the soy-sauce-like touch to the salmon. It was really nothing special. The whole dish lacked uniqueness and I was just quite disappointed.

For main courses, first up - the beef loin fillet. It was served with mash potato, topped with some crispy sweet potato slices and some asparagus. The sauce is thyme-scented red wine sauce. My friend like the beef as it was cooked quite well and not too tough. The red wine sauce went well with it. It's just that like any French food, the portion is small. I think this is probably the best main course amongst the 3 we tried.

The chocolate trio mousse cake has three layers of which the first is dark chocolate, then milk chocolate and finally white chocolate. Taste wise, nothing special about the cake. Being a dessert lover, I guess I was expecting more surprises and uniqueness. Sadly, it just wasn't there yet for me.

Overall, the food was mediocre. I guess I was expecting much more since there were many positive reviews online as well. Guess I would not be returning to Chef D' Table anytime soon.

Custom make your own sushi roll!  OK Apr 07, 2013

Maki San has been around for quite some time in the basement of The Cathay. At Maki San, you get to customize your sushi and salad!

Maki San is actually quite a small eatery. I would find that it is more of a place to grab a bite rather than to go there to have a proper meal. Having said that, I really like the creativity of the shop!

What is cool is that Maki San's sushi rolls come served in this really pretty and colorful drawer-like box that makes one happy and anticipate eating it.

As you can see in the pictures below, we picked our own ingredients and they rolled it into a roll, cut it into even pieces and place it in the box. One thing good is that they have quite a substantial amount of ingredients you can choose from. From the choice of wrap to the choice of rice and the sauces, I got to say it took quite long for us to decide what we wanted.

Overall, I would say Maki San is not a bad choice for people who want a light and relatively healthy meal! Price wise, I would say it's a little steep. And we tried the Miso Soup which tasted just mediocre.

The location is quite convenient; just a 5 minutes stroll from Telok Ayer station and Tanjong Pagar station. There are actually quite a few restaurants that are worth trying around the area as well! When we reached at around 1 plus on a Sunday afternoon, there was a short queue (around 5 tables) so be prepared to wait a little while if you are planning on checking out the cafe anytime soon!

I must admit that I was attracted by the cool vibe that the cafe gave off! I am sure you can see from the pictures above. Even though the name of the cafe doesn't sound like it, it is really quite a nice place to hang out with friends or family on a weekend morning/afternoon.
Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon $6.50. To be honest, we were quite surprised when this was served to us. The portion was really small but come to think of it, the price is quite a good reflection of the portion. You definitely will not be full from eating this but well, a smaller portion of this means more variety of other items right? [:

I love the texture of the scrambled eggs! But, the taste of it was quite normal. Maybe you can add a croissant or something else to go along with this? They have several other scrambled eggs selections (avocado, parma ham, ham & cheese).
Pineapple upside down (something along this line) $5. For me, this was the better dessert. I am not a fan of pineapple but somehow this managed to make me continue eating it after the first mouth. Definitely worth my calories!

Overall, I would say I was not impressed by the food and drinks that I tried. But to be fair, they have many other selections that I have not had the chance to try yet. I heard that they serve up good salads so if you are on a salad (healthy) diet, you can have a try and share with us about your experience!

&Made is a restaurant co-created by 3-star Michelin Chef, Bruno Menard and Deliciae Hospitality Management. It aims to reinvent informal food such as burgers and salads and bring diners a higher quality experience.
&Made also collaborates with L'Entrecote to serve up their steak in the restaurant. Havingheard positive reviews of Steak Frites at L'Entrecote, we decided to give this place a try.

As &Made highly recommends The "B" Burger ($19), my friend ordered that. It was their most popular burger that promises a juicy patty on the menu. The burger is served alongside with fries. We were disappointed that the fries were served cold. The burger was alright but not fantastic. The portion was on the small side relative to the price of the dish. We felt that for the price, it was not very worth it.

The steak came nicely sliced in pieces. We found that the order was more cooked than we had ordered it. The medium rare was more like a medium well and the medium well was done cooked. We found the meat not as tender as we had hoped for it to be.

Overall, we thought that there were room for improvements that could be made to the overall menu.
