Being a true blue 100% Peranakan I have been eating peranakan food even before i could walk. I have tried peranakan food in Singapore as well as Malacca and have very high expectations everytime i step into a Peranakan restaurants.

My family and cousins went there for dinner and well we heard alot of rave reviews about the place and it being dim sum dolly Selena Tan's mom's restaurant, I was really expecting alot from it. But alas.... I was utterly disappointed. Let's start from the top.

Firstly, the portions were very VERY little! Each bowl looked like it was meant for just one person. Can you imagine my look of shock when they brough in 3 bowls of Buah Keluak and each bowl only had 2 nuts for the 14 of us????

Second, the quality of food is just not there.... the ngoh hiang tried to be different from the usual long version by doing it into a ball but lacked the taste. The otah otah was hard unlike the usual Peranakan otah which is soft. The soup was bland.... like i was drinking plain soup and lacked the punch which usually comes with bakwan kepiting. The main disappointment was the buah keluak..... it lacked the strong taste that normally scares people away but we so dearly love....to me it just mixed into my rice and did not enhance the whole eating experience.....

Lastly the price..... my god.... we have always been prepared to pay slightly more for Peranakan food but for the amount we paid (over 300 bucks) for so called "Peranakan" food, this was an ABSOLUTE total rip off! Restaurant prices in a shop house turned cafe in a hdb estate....my parents were nice to tell Daisy that her food was good but I will not keep quiet about it. "Hope to see you again" was what the staff said after dinner, in my heart I was thinking FAT HOPE! This is not one of the worst Peranakan restaurants I have eaten at before but it sure is one of the lousier ones.

The only thing i enjoyed was the belachan. Let's just say if u have too much money in your pocket, do not mind average quality peranakan food and have a small stomach then maybe u can consider coming here. But for me, once bitten, FOREVER shy!
