Affordable french food OK Sep 07, 2013

Newly opened in Far East Plaza, the shop is located at the perimeter of the mall and pretty easy to spot.

I had the signature pasta ($4.90), which is pretty good for its price as a starter. It comes onto the table, beautifully presented. The shrimp and seaweed goes great with the angel hair pasta, and this starter is slightly filling so i would recommend sharing with a friend.

Duck confit was supposed to be one of their best selling item, but the taste was disappointing. The meat is tough and salty, and does not come off from the bone easily. I am not a fan of mashed potato, but the staff insist that it is their policy and no changing is allowed. Their mashed potato, like what i am dreading, is very buttery and creamy. I had wanted dessert, but was too sick from the creaminess to order any more food.

Dessert buffet  Cry Sep 07, 2013

I came across the deal from deal.com.sg, a dessert buffet that comes with free flow Flower Tea at $9.90. I thought it was a good deal and bought 4 vouchers to go with friends.

It is located in Little India and about 5 minutes walk away from the MRT, but the shop is quite hard to spot. I walked by it without realising and had to back track to locate the shop.

Unless typical buffet style, the food was already placed on the table that my friends and i are to be seated at when we stepped in. sad We couldnt even choose which are the cakes that we absolutely have no interest in, it is all placed on the table already. Although the cake looks pretty, none of it actually is as good as it looks. The cheesecake was tasteless, and the crust was soggy. The carrot cake was overwhelmed with the taste of cinnamon and nothing else. The banana cake and chocolate cake are the average ones that can still be considered decent. The worst of the lot is the tomato apple cake. No one wants to touch it, and given the chance we would not even want to order it.

The chocolate mousse is rich in chocolate, and the other cup is tasteless. I have no idea what i am eating.

Their free flow "flower tea" of that month is pineapple rose tea, which is just syrup basically. I feel cheated thinking that there will be real flower tea, as it is hard to find such a shop in Singapore. For the price paid for the deal, I find it alright. But i would not go back again, not even if there is another $9.90 deal.

Great for the soup Smile Sep 07, 2013

Nam Nam noodde stall is popular, and a long queue can be spotted during the lunch hours. I waited for 25 minutes to get a seat on a weekday, but luckily, the food was served almost immediately after order was placed.

I had the glass noodle with sliced beef set lunch ($9.90), which comes with iced coffee and 2 pieces of rice flour roll. The coffee was decent though it was on the sweet side and not as aromatic as i was hoping it to be. Spring roll on the other hand, was bad. They made in advance, and as a result, the skin of the roll was hardened when it was placed on the table, and very hard to bite.

Noodle wise tasted good as always, and i always love to add in the fish sauce to my soup. The beef slices were thin and goes great with the chili sauces.

Durian dessert  Smile Sep 07, 2013

Categories : Chinese Desserts | Desserts and Cakes

The shop is tucked away in a little road away from chomp chomp hawker, and on the second floor. It is quite easy to miss, so do keep an lookout for the sign if going!

The shop is cosy, with pictures plastered onto the wall everywhere. On a weekend night, the place can be packed and a long wait is to be expected.

Durian mousse from this shop is superb, and is one of the signature dish. They added real durian puree into the dessert, and each creamy mouthful can be overwhelming with the sweetness of durian. Pricing is reasonable as well, costing about $5 for each bowl of desert.

Steak place Smile Sep 07, 2013

Hogs breath cafe is pretty poplar in Australia, and has one of the nicest steak in Singapore, but few people was there in the restaurant when i went on a weekday afternoon. Set lunches are available, but there can be ongoing credit card promotions that can be as good as 1-for-1 main course.

I had the cream cheese avocado steak, and being my usual greedy self, i upsized my steak to 300g (usually 200g is served) for an extra $7. I had medium steak, and this is one of the few places that actually give me decent medium steak that isn't oozing with blood, or cooked till tough. The meat is juicy, tender, and goes great with the sauce. But the portion is too huge, such that i did not touch my sides at all.

A great place to go for decent steak!
