Fried rice Smile Sep 07, 2013

Categories : Dim Sum

Din Tai Fung is known for its xiao long bao, but i think their fried rice should be the dish that everyone should try.

I had the fried rice with pork chop. Their pork chop is very thick but tender and juicy, and well marinated so that it tasted good on its own without the need for sauces. Each grain of rice is well cooked and coated with egg, such that the rice do not lump together with each other. Well worth the price.

Adding on a small basket xiao long bao and it should be enough for sharing between 2 person.

For the cuteness not the food  OK Sep 07, 2013

I bought a voucher on Qoo10 ($6.90), for crepe of my choice and a can of soft drink.

The whole cafe was decorated with characters from the snoopy cartoon that i have known so well when i was a kid. I ordered the "snoopy crepe" simply because i wanted the decoration to be that of a snoopy face.

The crepe was not the crispy one that i like, but the dark chocolate inside the crepe saved the dish. The scope of ice cream melt very fast, and is not rich enough.

The cafe is cute and brings back childhood memories, but the food was just average. Price was reasonable using the voucher, but might have to reconsider going again without the voucher.

Late night dessert  Smile Sep 07, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Hawker Centre | Desserts and Cakes

While most chinese dessert close early at night, this Ah balling stall was still opened at 9.30pm when I went for supper. There was a queue, but the service was fast.

There is a choice of soup (Ginger, Peanut or Almond) and 5 different flavors of ah balling, ie, glutinous rice to choose from. Out of the 5, the most unusual one is the green tea flavor, which unfortunately ran out.

I had peanut soup with sesame and yam ah balling. Even though it is a small bowl of dessert, it is very filling. The yam filling is very nice, almost like the texture of yam paste but without the overwhelming sweetness. Each bite is oozing with the ingredient.

Quiet cafe in Singapore Smile Sep 07, 2013

Bark cafe is nicely tucked away next to changi chapel, away from the city and any disturbance. Ambiance of the cafe is very conducive to chill out with friends. I ordered cheddar cheese salad with balsamic vinegar sauce which comes with 5 fried cheese sticks!

Look at how cheese that is! Yummy!

The bark cafe is famous for their chicken wing, and even though the price is a tad expensive, it is worth a try. Fried to perfection, and piping hot when served. The juice literally drips out with every mouthful taken.

I ordered oven-baked pesto chicken as my main course, which is also a dish with the "must try" icon on the menu. However, the lack of pesto taste left me disappointed when the dish arrived. Definately not a must try as compared to the starters that i have had.

Salmon burger OK Jul 30, 2013

If you are a non-beef eater, you are going to have a hard time at kraze burger. This is what i thought while i was going through the menu. More than 3/4 of the burger menu are based on beef patty, and for people like me who rarely eats beef, making a choice becomes very limited. I had the smoke salmon, with cream cheese sauce, on wheat bun. The burger is supposed to be soft and aromatic (according to the description), but does fulfill any. The smoke salmon given was little, and accompanied by a lot of vegetables in the burger, making it hard to eat.
