I just had Smoked Duck with Spaghetti for dinner at the outlet located at Takashimaya. I ordered the basic set that comes with a mushroom soup of the day and an ice tea for an additional $2.80 added to my meal. The smoked duck with spaghetti cost $11.80. After adding GST, it became $14.60.

The outlet was quite packed and full-house. The smoked duck had a slight salty taste to it and was slightly chewy and soft. However the smoked duck were thinly sliced and there were only 5 slices. I think it will be better if they can increase the quantity and thickness of the smoked duck.

The spaghetti was also quite salty as I was quite thirsty after my meal. However I like the way the spaghetti was cooked and I felt it's tasty enough. The mushroom soup tasted average.

If given another chance, I would like to try their other variety, eg Salmon Paella or Scallop with Fish roe spaghetti. With the meal costing $14.60 in total, I won't strongly recommend you to try out this dish unless you specifically like smoked duck only and is less inclined to eat their other dishes.

Seafood Tom Yum Glass Noodle Smile Feb 22, 2013

I just had my lunch at Bali Thai. Came across a very interesting concept in their menu where they allow you to mix and match the choice of your noodle (eg. Egg noodle, Glass noodle, Hokkien noodle, Kway Teow, Phad Thai noodle), ingredients of various choices to pick from and also the type of sauce.

For my lunch, I picked the glass noodle, seafood ingredients and Tom Yum sauce. I felt that the glass noodle was a bit too dry. It could have been better if they served the glass noodle that's not so dry and comes with some Tom Yum gravy. I also felt that the Tom Yum wasn't that spicy at all. I even felt it tasted a bit diluted, when I compared it with other Tom Yum dishes that I had tried before.

For the ingredient portion, they did give a reasonable portion. My meal comes with 2 mussels, 2 prawns, 2 squids and plenty of button mushrooms and carrots. However I felt it could have been better if they provide more prawns/squids/mussels instead of sticking to 2 for each of them.

Throughout the meal, soothing Thai songs played in the background. Although I don't understand a single word of Thai, but some songs are soothing and catchy and I felt it certainly enhance the diner's meal experience. Even the inner decorations had a Thai feel to it. The whole atmosphere feels very Thai.

The waiters/waitresses service were good too. They were very attentive and prompt in serving you when you signal to them. They are also quite polite too when they are taking orders.

My meal cost $10.90. With GST and service charge, final cost was around $12.75. Still quite reasonable for a meal at Orchard, but I felt it's a little expensive, considering that there are only 2 prawns & 2 squids & 2 mussels.

Lunch OK Feb 22, 2013

I ordered the mixed beef noodle for my lunch. Found that the soup was tasty and to my liking. The meat portions given were generous and I felt it's valued for money, for the meal only cost me $11.90++.

I had also tried out some of the Vietnamese sauce that was placed on our table and it certainly helps to add flavour to the soup when I added into it. However dipping the meat into the sauce has little impact on the flavour.

Overall, I felt that my meal was still acceptable but I won't recommend my friends to try as their queue are always very long during lunch time and the overall taste is just average only.

My family and I decided to have our dinner at Prata Planet, Clementi as most of the stalls were closed during CNY period. All of us ordered different types of pratas, such as Egg prata, Plain prata, Cheese prata, Egg with Onion prata, Garlic prata.

Below is a photo of my one piece of Egg prata and one piece of my Cheese prata. I always love to order this combination of the Egg prata with Onion and it one of the favourite item that I will order whenever we eat at any prata outlet.

The cheese prata tasted average and it does not have much of the cheese taste. sad

My egg with onion prata was slightly better. smile

My dining experience at the restaurant was good and the waiters were responsive and polite.

Lunch Smile Feb 07, 2013

Just had lunch at Pepper Lunch and I ordered their lunch special set meal that cost $11.90 in total. Their lunch special comes with a main course of beef, egg & vegetables, a cup of soft-drink and an ice-cream.

The beef itself was delicious and tender. It was well-cooked and marinated. Also, there were two pieces of beef and the beef serving portion was huge. Coupled with the bowl of rice, I was feeling very full after I ate my meal.

My lunch special also comes with a chocolate ice-cream coated with nuts. The chocolate ice-cream tasted average only.

For a lunch meal that cost $11.90 with so many items, I felt it's definitely well-worth your money to try out this meal for your lunch.
