Ben & Jerry's Smile Jul 31, 2013

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Family outing with my sisters at Great World City , after dinner all went to B&J’s , this place is small and cozy with friendly servers that enthusiastically took our order - Chunky Monkey, Chocolate fudge brownie, Sweet cookies and cream , Everything but nothing

Chunky Monkey ‘s is a great example of how soft smooth bananas ice cream and crunchy chocolate chunks come together with a fruity and chocolately and rich after taste.

One thing I like about the Chocolate Fudge Brownie is the brownie bits fused with rich and thick chocolate ice cream and ultimate puts a smile of “dirty funny” teeth on your face. Remember to rinse mouth with ice water after.

Sweet cookies and cream is one of my classic favourites , and yes I love Oreos, The smooth and sweetness yet occasional soggy cookies embedded within the ice cream brings me back to my childhood.

I tried the Everything But The, and it comes as a pleasant surprise, it has got peanut buttercups and all the goodie nutty rojiak mixed in to chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Very interesting!

Korean Food Smile Jul 31, 2013

Categories : Korean | BBQ

Highly recommended by my sis’s bf Oh Neul Han Jeom, so went to check it out.
We had Pajeon, Fluffy big slabs of crispy-fried egg and flour mixture blankets fresh scrumptious seafood and aromatic spring onions, their dipping sauce might be one of the best I ever had, heady, deep, and flavorsome.
Kimchi Jjigae, Hot and bubbling red colored kimchi soup packed with the goodness and flavor of the crunchy fermented cabbage (kimchi) and thinly sliced succulent pork belly.
Jeyuk, Mouthwatering stir fried pork in chili sauces tantalized my taste buds even before it was place on the table as I can smell the aromatic sizzling chili cooking on the hotplate used to dish the food. Spicy pork was tender and appetizing. Would recommend to order their set meals if you have a budget and wanted to have True authentic Korean food.

Beer Market OK Jul 31, 2013

Hubby and I were at Liang Court having dinner , I didn’t eat much so we walked over to clarke quay to grab a few bites. Walked past beer market, I recall our last visit to the crown centre branch, we went in to get some finger foods.
This place has the similar ambience of chic and cool place to hangout with colleagues after work. I ordered Baked honey glazed bbq wings , Calamari

The order came shortly served by friendly staff; I loved how the chicken wings were presented as it was glossy under the dimlight ! Succulent wings tasted tender ; coated with tangy and sweet thick bbq sauce that felt like it went on and on around my mouth till we finished.

Calamari coated with a crispy batter , chewy insides and went well with the mayo dipping. Unfortunately, it was very oily and I was fussing about it , shaking it off and letting it drain on my own tissues.

Ayam Penyet Ria Smile Jul 31, 2013

Was helping out my friend at the bedok point’s weekend flea market that she runs a stall at for fun. I couldn’t resist the smell of fried chicken as it keeps luring me to its source. We ordered Ayam Penyet, Udang Penyet, Tahu Telok
This place is quite spacious with plenty of seats, and friendly, attentive servers.

Udang Penyet – This was one of the first times I ordered prawns from indonesian cuisine cooking style, felt it was abit overcooked so it's abit tough and dry , I am guessing it’s a norm because everything here is mainly deepfried.

Ayam Penyet – This classic chicken dish lives up to its standard as it is crispy and flavourful, meat was a little dry, but not so anymore after you dip in spicy chilli and then down it with lots of water to try suppress the spiciness! The generous portion of crunchy crumbs mixed well with the rice.

Tahu telok – it looked nice and appealing with the topping etc, but when I bite into it without the peanut sauce, I probably got an unpleasant surprise of oozing oil that was not drained properly and hidden within. Bleahk.I had to squeeze dry first before re-dipping with the sauce.

Oriole Cafe Smile Jul 31, 2013

Went Oriole for lunch after a hot yoga session, I was so hungry and wanted to order everything on the menu. I had St. Louis’ pork ribs $28, not only have the usual sweet and tangy taste this ribs tasted more Asian with the sambal matah along side, ribs were braised till tender and fall-off-the-bone. Served with perfectly roasted puffy sweet potato and fresh crunchy tossed greens) Superb!
I thought of having a light sweet ending but I can’t resist the temptation and ordered a Oriole knickerbocker glory $14 ; smooth and luscious triple chocolate & vanilla ice cream with sweet brandied cherries, crunchy almond cat's tongue and crispy double chocolate cookies.
