Bouncy fishballs Smile Dec 03, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

I was at Geylang East Home for the Aged and my colleagues and I adjourned to this food centre for lunch. Although it was a weekday, quite a substantial number of stalls are not open. As it is too hot to eat in the food centre, we all ordered takeaways. I ordered the fishball noodles from this stall. I got the $2.50 portion which comes with three fishballs, some sliced fishcakes and some minced meat. The noodles are quite yummy and the fishballs are also tasty. It is very bouncy and has the bite to it. I love fishballs with such a texture as it makes the fishballs seem more handmade rather than mass produced in a factory. At $2.50, it is a worth it and nice meal!

Nasi lemak OK Dec 03, 2014

Categories : Hawker Centre | Noodles

Feeling hungrier than usual, I decided to order nasi lemak for my lunch. There are default sets but I preferred choosing my own ingredients. Hence, I ordered a fried egg, chicken wing and Chinese sausage. Being a huge fan of chili, I also piled on a generous serving of their chili to mix together with the rice. The rice has a slight fragrance as it is slightly coconutty. Together with the chili, it is really delicious. The chili is not very spicy, but it is savoury and it is a good complement to the rice. The chicken wings are also bursting with flavor as the chicken meat is moist and flavourful. The only thing I didn’t quite like about my meal is the sausage as it is too salty.

Crispy pancakes OK Dec 02, 2014

Ah Long pancake is famous because of the crispness. As such, the pancake are made to order. They even have a small signage which says that if the pancake turns out to be too black for your liking, you can choose to change it. I thought my family would want to try as well, so I ordered four pancakes which the auntie placed in a box for easier carrying. I chose two peanut pancakes and two coconut pancakes.

The pancake is indeed very crispy at the edges. The filling is also ample. In fact, because the pancake is thin and crispy, there is a higher filling to pancake ratio. Overall it is a great snack for munching on, and not for satisfying hunger pangs.

minced meat noodles Smile Dec 02, 2014

I usually order noodles whenever I eat out for lunch and today is no exception. I ordered the minced meat fishball noodles from this stall which costs $3. I had requested for extra chili for my noodles and also chose the thin mee kia. The noodles are really very delicious! The combination of the chili, gravy works wonders as the noodles tasted great without being overly salty. It is a pity that there is no pork liver as I think minced meat noodles with pork liver are getting rare these days. The portion is good for me too, so it is worth the price paid.

Sharetea OK Dec 02, 2014
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

After lunch, all my colleagues and I are looking around for drinks to bring back to office and we decided to get Sharetea. I have never had Sharetea before, so, on my colleague’s recommendation, I decided to order the Homemade pudding milk tea which costs $2.90. Like most or all bubble tea stalls today, we are able to choose the sugar level and I went for 0%. The queue is just us so we got our drinks fairly quickly since they began preparing once we made our order. The milk tea, even though it is 0% sweetness, is sufficiently flavourful and tasty since it is milky and I am thinking the milk has sweetness as well. The pudding is very tasty. It tastes somewhat like a custard flavoured pudding and it is very soft and could be easily sipped up with the straw. I preferred this to the pearls. The pudding is also sweet, so I was glad that I ordered it with 0% sugar level.
