We were quite thrilled to find that there is a Korean food stall at Bagus, which is a halal food court. The place was quite decently decorated for a food court but since we were here during dinner time, it was very noisy.Nevertheless, we were keen to try the Korean food here. There was quite a variety of dishes available, such as the Korean Fried Rice ($5.50), Kimchi Ramen ($6.00), Salmon Bowl ($6.50) and Teppan Beef Bulgogi ($7.50). We also noticed that there was a Dua Set promotion of two sets
Nevertheless, we were keen to try the Korean food here. There was quite a variety of dishes available, such as the Korean Fried Rice ($5.50), Kimchi Ramen ($6.00), Salmon Bowl ($6.50) and Teppan Beef Bulgogi ($7.50).
We also noticed that there was a Dua Set promotion of two sets for only $10.00 which was quite value for money considering that the usual price for any of the two sets listed would be $12.00. We got the Set C which came with the Korean Bibimbap and Spicy Seafood Soup. Despite this being a self service stall, the staff was nevertheless still polite and friendly although there was a wait for our food due to the dinner time rush.
Korean Bibimbap with Chicken (U.P. $6.00)The bibimbap that came with the promotion set was served in a normal bowl, instead of a stone bowl which I would have actually preferred for the slightly charred rice and slightly smokey flavour. If you want to get the Dolsot Bibimbap with stone bowl for a slightly more authentic taste, it is priced at $6.50 with a choice of chicken or beef. But since the promotion was only for the normal bowl, we just went with it instead. It came with a decent serving of an egg, chicken bulgogi, carrot slices, mushroom slices, vegetables, beansprouts, and sauce that was spicy, a little sweet, and a tad salty. The set also came with a side of kimchi, which was spicy and sour, and spicy anchovies, which unfortunately felt a tad too mushy. There was also a bowl of seaweed soup which tasted mild but was especially good for "cooling" the tongue after all the spiciness. Overall, we thought this was quite okay, but it'd probably taste better with the stone bowl, at least for my taste.
Spicy Seafood Soup (U.P. $6.00)This set came with a bowl of rice although we also asked for an extra bowl of seaweed soup, while the friendly staff willingly obliged. The seafood soup was very spicy with a slight tinge of sweetness but it was surprisingly not very sour as we had initially expected. There was also quite a generous portion of ingredients in it, like prawns (we counted 3!), pieces of squid, tofu, slices of fish meat, shredded chicken meat, enoki mushroom and vegetables. It tasted pretty decent although we agreed that it was really too spicy for us. Even so, we felt that this was the slightly better dish out of the two.
Overall, the pricing at this stall was expected of a Korean stall in a food court and the taste was also quite decent. Portion was quite plentiful and we were pretty full by the end of the meal. If you are eating with a friend or a partner, you can consider the Dua Set promotion which was quite worth it since you'd be getting the dish at $5.00 each instead of the usual price of $6.00. I'd love to come back again to try the Dolsot Bibimbap and Teppan Chicken Bulgogi one day!Post
