It's not my first time visting but the experience this time is bad. My family and I chose to visit for dinner before this outlet closes in June. We had rosti with grilled sausage, waffle with ice cream, grilled salmon, Honey BBQ Ribs (upsized), rootbeer float and Baked rosti & cheese. The rosti with grilled sausage and baked rosti & cheese are both really small portion. I remembered the rosti was a big plate with full size. Why is it getting smaller? Waffle with ice cream was still good. Grilled

Most importantly, their hygiene was bad. Utensils was not clean. Cups for filling plain water wasn't clean well too. A total disappointment

Buddy Hoagies is a restaurant cafe specialising in western cuisine. I did not call it a restaurant became it has a friendly and relaxed ambience which is child friendly too. During my visit, I noticed that there were quite a number of children in the cafe. After walking around, I knew the reasons. Buddy Hoagies was a children friendly cafe! They had plastic utensils (spoon, forks, plates) for kids (not those disposable ones) and a corner filled toys for children to play. Some children even brought the toys to their tables where they could play while waiting for the food to be served. Not bad, I did not notice any children playing with ipad or any mobile devices!

There was an option to upgrade the main course to a Buddy's Set Meal for $4.50 which would include soup & garlic toast, coffee/tea/ ice tea and ice cream.

We ordered a Fish and Chips and upgraded it to a Set Meal ($13.40), followed by a Western BBQ Chicken ($8.90) and Cheese Fries ($3.50).

Cream of Mushroom & Garlic Toast

The Cream of Mushroom was average. It was too thick for my liking while the Garlic Toast was a tad too hard.

Cheese Fries $3.50

The Cheese Fries $3.50 tasted quite good when it was still warm. When it cooled down, the cheese became hard and the fries at the bottom were soggy.

Fish and Chips

The Fish and Chips $8.90 served with fries fared better. Though they could be more generous with their servings, both items were not overly oily. In addition, the fish was slight moist in the interior (not hard and dry). In fact, I like this fries better compared to the cheese fries.

Western BBQ Chicken $8.90

The Western BBQ Chicken $8.90 was essentially grilled chicken in barbecue sauce with vegetables and baked potato. Initially, I thought that the portion was very little. But come to think of it, for the ambience and price, I really should not fault it too much as the operating cost of the F&B industry have gone up.

The chicken was nicely grilled and the interior was juicy and tender. There was a slight hint of smoky flavour. If the smoky flavour could be intensified, this would have been wonderful. There was a big chunk of butter in the baked potato. Needless to say, I took out most of the butter before they had the opportunity to melt. This main course was not bad and quite value for money.

Ice Cream

The vanilla ice cream was well, simple and ordinary.

There were hits and misses at Buddy Hoagies. But generally, their main course seemed to fared better. They did quite well in creating a warm cozy ambience with a children friendly environment.

My very first time trying Buddy Hoagies. The concept is a bit similar to those very popular western stall outside. One main dish with 2 side dishes. I choose the baked potatoes and the vegetables as my sides. Well, I really like the baked potatoes a lot soft and nice with the butter in it. The vegetables was ok, nothing much. The chicken was slightly harder to chew on, but lesser fats as compare to other stall! We spent a total of $30 + for 4 people.

The Price
Reasonably priced at $15++ which is value for money

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

The carbonara sauce is too much and eat more will get sick of it but overall is nice. We waited very long for the baked rice, about 20 minutes, but the portion is small.

They served us the soup when we were almost finished with the main course, the restaurant was so busy! The soup is not really nice, very plain not those thick soup type. The bread that came along was flavoured with garlic and crispy. Overall, for the price here, it is worth it. Hope next time there their service will be better.

Located in a community center, it's a good place in the neighbourhood to hang out. Environment is pleasant but there may be families which can be a little noisy at times. They have affordable student sets and set lunches as well. I tried the ala carte fish baked rice. Portion of cheese was just right, and not too cheesy, so I was able to finish the whole thing. Fish was your average frozen dory, but nothing to complain about for the price.

So u can guess how long it's been here and i really love it for being part of my study schooling days

It's a really place to study and chill out while chit chatting with friends, cozy cafe atmosphere!
I super love the ice lemon tea here, really quality tea used!
Does not taste artificial and the sweetness is just nice!
Would recommend the must try of this place

The next best item is the baked rice!
I love the fish baked rice most, remembered it to be fresh and super cheesy so both me and my friend decide to ordered the same things from our favourite memory of this place!
However the baked rice that day is quite disappointing

The cheese is quite little though the fish's still as good!
Both of us felt that the standards have dropped..
Not sure if it's a one time thing but i definitely hope the next time i order this, i hope it'll be as good as the past!

Buddy Hoagies' Classic Sundae was really worth the money. It was only S$4.90. You can choose two different flavor of ice cream and I have chosen strawberry and vanilla. Then they will ask which flavor you would like to have the bigger scoop, and i chose the strawberry. As you can see, it consist of a cherry, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate chips and waffle fan.It is really good. The appearance also whet my appetite too !

The Tiramisu was heavenly, and it is very different from others that I've tried, the coffee aroma and taste is strong, and the lightness of the sponge cake makes the taste buds tingle in glee.
The cheesecake was pretty good too, very solid and a stronger cheese taste, as for the cookies and creme shake, I wouldn't recommend that, as it was just not up to expectations. Overall, I would go back to try their main courses, and will order their Tiramisu again,

Salmon Alfredo Pasta

The portion of the pasta was quite big, value for money - at the cost of $9.50. They were generous in portioning both the spaghetti and salmon. Taste: not that oily, not that creamy - perfect!

Vanilla Shake

The Vanilla Shake tasted rich, from the taste I knew that sufficient among of ice cream was blended in it. Not like those which tasted yucky because plenty of water or ice cube were added in.

Price: $3.90

Grilled Pepper Chix

The portion of this main was small but taste wise it was alright for him. It wasn't too peppery for him. He loved the potato with the melted butter!

Price: $8.90

He had the set meal with the $4.50 add on that comes with the soup, garlic bread, drink and ice cream.

The mushroom soup wasn't diluted, it was nice! You can chew bits of mushroom in the soup! I love their mushroom soup and with their garlic bread it was a perfect combination. Their garlic bread was so nice that he had to make another order for it.

Cheese Fries

I took away a cheese fries for my mom, thought it wasn't the nacho cheese they used, the fries still tasted nice as it was crispy. I did suggest you to order the normal fries instead as the fries without cheese tasted better.

The waitress was polite throughout - never fail to say thank you to the guest.

A place for good quality and good value!

If you were here, maybe you can head down to Blk 846 (within walking distance) to try out ice cream from a shop house which I spotted on my way back.
