I was surprised to see this makeshift paper-crafted "dustbin", which I will usually see back home. Well, at least you do not have to feel bad about making the tables dirty, or having your plates filled with bones instead of yummylicious food!
Warrior's Platter ($20.00 for 2pax). A total of 6 items, namely Warrior's Chix Curry, Asam Pedas Fish, Tofu with Black Sauce & Mushroom, Chap Chye, Bollywing, and Tempura. All items are served in small portion, but can be filling before you knew it.
The Warrior's Platter also come with a bowl of brown rice, clearly displaying 2 portions for 2 pax.
Banana Curry ($10.00). I just couldn't take my craving off this item as it seem so unique? I was thinking the curry will be cooked with banana fruit, but no. Basically a sweetened curry with potatoes.
KangKong with Garlic ($8.00). Chopped KangKong? This is one of its kind though. Its crunchiness retains while chopped to look like spring onions. You can opt for the spicy version if you like for the same price, but we decided to go on something lighter.
Bollywood Dessert Special ($4.00). It consists of a small portion of banana cake, and a cup of vanilla ice cream with what-seems like maple syrup as the sauce.

Banana cake ($3.50) - Warm and moist with rich banana taste. Cake is firm and yet soft in texture. With just one bite, you will be able to taste the banana straight away. It is best to eat it immediately while its served warm. Absolutely fresh and delicious. Recommended!!

Warrior's Chicken Curry - Woooo, this is one good dish. Abit spicy but at the same time slightly sweet and sour. Guess its due to the bits of pineapple added into the curry. The chicken meat is tender and firm, highly recommended

Besides dining, Bollywood Veggies is definitely a good place for family bonding especially during the weekend or school holidays. It is definitely an educational trip for young children as all plants and flowers are neatly labelled all around the farm. A rewarding experience with great air, food and environment, but do not forget your insect repellent!

Verdict: 3.5/5

Poison Ivy Bistro is located inside Bollywood Veggies, near the entrance. It has a rather rustic countryside setting. We had a peaceful and relaxing dining experience there. Despite the secluded location, their business seems good! When we finally finished our stroll and decided it was time to fill up our stomachs, we were told that the indoor dining area was fully booked, and it was during a weekday lunch time!

Their menu was written on this big black board.

Get revitalised with these Cold Lemongrass Drink ($2) and Hot Fig Tea ($2)! They were refreshing and most importantly, not those artificially sweet beverages and you will be able to taste the natural wonder of the ingredients inside.

We ordered a salad - Roasted Pumpkin with Parmesan Cheese and Roast Corn ($8). The dressing served was mint yoghurt. Pumpkin was sweet and roasted until tender, with a hint of balsamic vinegar.

I was slightly taken aback by the name of this curry, it is called Warrior's Chicken Curry ($10). Turned out that it was not as spicy as I thought, but the sauce was thick enough to my liking. I poured it all over my rice.

Farm minestrone soup with bread - the consistency of this soup is thicker than what we usually have. The bread, instead of being dipped inside the soup, I used it to wipe clean the curry sauce!

This was the Twice Cooked Pandan Lemongrass Kampong Chicken ($14), under the Ang Mo Specials. The chicken was a tad dry but the marination was flavorful. We saw few feathers left on the chicken though.

Taste-wise, the food here is slightly above average. Experience-wise, surrounded by the greenery, away from the bustle of the city life, no wonder despite the secluded location the place was almost full house.

We decided to drop off at Bollywood Veggies Poison Ivy Bistro since many other passenger in the bus also drop off there. The Bistro was very crowded before lunch time, luckily we managed to find a table at the corner.

We ordered the Chicken & Chips and Banana Curry. The prices for the Chicken & Chips was $10 and Banana Curry was $4.

The Chicken & Chips serving was quite small. The chips were normal deep fried french fries. The chicken meat was grilled prefectly on the outside. Inside the meat was tender and slightly juicy. The meat was good with taste of honey and caramel.

The Banana Curry was good. The curry gravy had Indian style curry aroma and tasted slightly spicy. The cooked banana in the curry tasted more like powdery potato than banana.

Overall, the food at Bollywood Veggies Poison Ivy Bistro was good but the prices were a bit high for such small servings.

I ordered a mixed fried battered vegetables and fungus. Crispy and mellow tasting fried leafy vegetable really surprises me; battered mushroom was thinly slice crisp on the outside chewy on the inside; tasted even better dipping in sweet dark sauce and zesty mayonnaise. I also tried their fig tea (they grow the figs in the farm), it's refreshing and delicious. I takeout some banana bread before i left as it just came out from the kitchen; bread was moist and warm with heaps of banana chunks in it. Delightful ! (banana was from the farm too)
This place has a nice garden for you to walk and learn and take photos too. remember to bring mosquito patch so you don't end up feeding. Ulu area but totally unique experience.

On each table, there were be a hand-written note for the customers. I really like their concept of not adding MSG and salt, nowadays most stalls in Singapore didn't really bother about customers' health. They cared more on cooking food that can attract customers instead of concerning their health.

Finally, here come the food! We ordered quiet a lot! Well, I had to eat that the food without MSG and salt did taste very nice and it tasted more like mum's home cooked home. The lemon grass is 100% with no sugar added and I almost puked at my first sip! I was amazed with their chicken curry, i like the tenderness of it and also the mixture of different herbs and spices (other than salt) to cook the dish! The relaxing and cozy environment, and the specially health dieted is what really bring the customers back. Not forgetting the friendly lady boss of Poison Ivy that go around here table to talk to all her customers.

The curry chicken tasted good. As it is a wholesome bistro, they do not use coconut milk for this dish. The kangkong veg was a little too oily for my liking . Perhaps it's the use of sambal. Egg and chicken wings were quite normal to be honest.

Overall food here is decent.

Our last stop of the day at Kranji Countryside was at Bollywood Veggies. After covering the goat farm and the frog farm, it was around noon, just in time for lunch!

At Poison Ivy, a bistro at Bollywood Veggies, you can choose to be seated at the air-conditioned indoor seats or outdoor non air-con seats. As the weather was very hot on that day, we decided to have our lunch indoor. We could still see the beautiful greenery by looking out the transparent walls.

Updated menu was written on a black board at the wall so before getting seated, you could see all the newly arrived guests walking towards this "special menu" to see what was being served. Price was very reasonable, with most of the dishes ranging from $4 to $8, with no additional GST and service charge.

We ordered warriors Chicken Curry ($8). No coconut milk was used for this dish.

Moringa Tempura ($4)
This was a very good snack, crunchy and really addictive. Moringa leaves are very rich in calcium, which is said to contain 4 times the amount in milk!

I decided to try the brown rice as it looked healthier.

The dishes that we ordered for ourselves (2 pax). For drinks, we ordered their fig drink and lemongrass drink.

Restaurants located amidst an abundance of greenery are positively an endangered species in Singapore, with high-rise buildings sprouting endlessly, as are the number of restaurants in the city.

Poison Ivy Bistro is serenely located adjacent to Bollywood Veggies in the Kranji countryside enclave. It is a deep drive into the remote area, but definitely worth the distance.

Make yourself comfortable in the rustic, homely indoors and enjoy air-conditioning after a tour around the beguiling farm.

Fig Tea (hot/cold) – $2

The Fig Tea is available both hot and cold – whichever best suits your mood – and arrives unsweetened. The colour of the drink is derived from fig leaves and red sugarcane, au naturel.

Aloe Vera (left picture; $3), Lemongrass Tea (right picture; $2)

Aloe Vera has to be my personal favourite; it is the sweetest amongst the three (oh yes, I have a sweet tooth!) and you get cubes of Aloe Vera for your chewing pleasures.

Beers and wines are available.

Apart from the alcoholic drinks, the food menu is completely Halal, and in strict absence of pork and lard.

Its food menu isn’t extensive, but there are sufficient choices to please everyone. Its menu comprises of breakfast foods, starters, mains, finger foods and the indubitable veggies.

Talented Cordon Bleu Chef Lynn Ee runs the kitchen seamlessly; drawing inspiration from the farm and what’s available for harvest, she designs the menu with the approval of Ivy’s taste buds.

Farmer’s Platter, for two ($10 per person)

To get a gastronomic overview, you can start things off with the Farmer’s Platter that features downsized portions of (almost all) the dishes –a diversity of flavours and textures in a single tray.

We also had a bowl of brown rice to accompany the mouth-watering dishes. To my surprise, after years of avoiding brown rice for its uncanny appearance, I have eaten more brown rice than I have ever eaten in my 24 years of living. It actually pairs perfectly well with the dishes!

Deconstructed Grilled Coconut Chicken

You would be expecting a whole lot of greens on your plates when you’re at a bistro that is situated amongst the gardening terrain – like myself, who was initially half-hesitating making the trip down due to the fact that I dislike eating my greens – but fret not, because carnivores are certainly not short-changed at Poison Ivy. In fact, there are more meat dishes on the menu than the actual greens, well complemented by farm-fresh ingredients in the cooking process.

Otah Omelet

I love eggs, and I love my Otah thick and whole. With Poison Ivy’s Otah Omelet duo, I can have my cake and eat it too.

Apart from the items available on the menu on a daily basis, there are daily specials that are highly dependent on what’s available for harvest.Generally, all the mains cost $6 each for regular portions.

Jackfruit Lemak (half portion)

Highlight: The Jackfruit Lemak steals the show. The stew commingles the sweet and the savoury, with soft and juicy pieces of jackfruit immersed in a creamy coconut milk sauce. Slightly lacking in the visual department, it is more than compensated for in its tremendously decadent coalescence of flavours.

Bollywood 3-in-1 Dessert ($7.50)
–Banana Bread, Kueh Bingka (Baked Tapioca) and Kueh Kosui (steamed tapioca flour with palm sugar)

The Banana Bread is soft, moist and isn’t too sweet. The best part is, they warm it before serving. Very comforting to dig into! I like!

Must-have: The Kueh Kosui is the best in Singapore. Confirmed. It is a unanimous favourite! It is so, so soft, appropriately sweet and not too chewy or sticky –it is splendid in every possible way.

Who knew that bananas were so good with curry?! The nasi lemak and mushroom chicken also got thumbs-up from my dining companions, although I didn't try any.

We rounded off the meal with coffee and their 3-in-1 dessert. The cakes were definitely the highlight of the meal! The banana cake was so yummy that we bought one to take home.

I also really liked the setting... it's casual and homey with really kind staff. You can sit indoors where it's air-conditioned or outside where there's a kids play area. You can also take your dog here and sit outside.

Prices are very reasonable considering the organic ingredients used. I'd be back more often if it wasn't so hard to get here!

It is abit out of the way though! Wouldnt come here specifically if i do not drive.
