Bought Set 3 nasi lemak from Qi Ji at Nex on a weekday evening. The place was crowded as it was dinner time so had to takeaway. Service was quite efficient. Only waited for about 10 minutes. Asked for more sambal chilli as I love its sweet and spicy combination. Also liked the rice and chicken. The ikan bilis and and fried peanuts were still crispy even after reaching home.Overall, the nasi lemak was good and I liked it but too pricey for that quantity. Will only eat this once in a while.

I had craving for mee rebus so decided to buy my dinner at Qiji. I like their Mee Rebus $3.90, the gravy is thick and flavorful, had a good consistent texture that isn't too thick or too watery. This dish comes with a full hard boil egg cut into half...instead of half an egg that we usually see at other stalls. I also ordered a Tauhu goreng $3.80 with thick peanut sauce. They gave a generous serving of cucumber strips...nice

Just bought my dinner from Qiji at Nex. Their nasi lemak is one of my most frequent ordered item. I always buy their Set 4 dish which consist of crispy fried chicken wing, deep fried ikan kuning, fried egg and ikan bilis with peanuts ($4.20 per set). The rice is cooked with pandan leaves and has a slight greenish color...it is soft and very fragrant. Their chicken wings are always crispy, all thanks to the high turnover rate of this item their wings are always sold off when still piping hot. The

I love to add otak to the nasi lemak dish but if I'm at Nex, I will not buy it here...check my next review for answer

The portion is acceptable and it’s quite filling after finishing it.

The rice is fragrant but the taste is not very strong.

The otah is soft and not too spicy.

The fishcake, ikan billis and fried egg is normal.

The fish is quite nice and does not have too strong of the fishy taste.

All of it complements pretty well with each other and overall it is quite delicious

The price is also acceptable with 4/5 ingredients to go with the rice at $4.

However recently the price have gone up for their main dishes just a few days after I ate it, it is now at $4.20.

Qiji popiah is one of the best I have Eaten! Despite having many outlets the quality has always been maintained! The popiah is filled tightly with turnips and also has lots of crunchy bits for contrast in texture. The turnip filling is juicy and flavourful, while the peanuts add extra flavour and fragrance. The skin is chewy and resilient and holds the filling well. Even when taken away and left for awhile, the popiah doesn't become soggy and the skin holds up well, not soaking through.

Merlion Wayfarer chose Qi Ji today - because she needed a place to sit and because she still felt nationalistic (It's still the fortnight after National Day!) to support local food. Of course, the Otah ain’t Lee Wee’s standard (Ooops Merlion Wayfarer took in some non-Qi Ji food!). But other than that, the rest was just wickedly not-bad…..

The tables are quite closely packed, so, on a busy day, it's difficult to get a seat.

On that day we decided to try the Nasi Lemak and Laksa.
There are many different Nasi Lemak sets to choose from, or you can go free and easy
and customise your own set. I chose Chicken wing, two pieces of otak and ikan bilis.
We also ordered Laksa (with yellow noodles) with prawns but no cockles.

One thing I enjoy watching is how the stall assistant neatly arranges the items ordered for each Nasi Lemak set - the chicken wings are cut and neatly arranged, the otak leaf wrapper is peeled off and the ikan bilis is carefully placed at the side, not forgetting the sambal chilli.

The Nasi lemak was cooked to perfection - not too much coconut milk.
The Otak pieces were absolutely ''sinful'', though - rich in coconut milk, full of flavour
and grilled just right - really an indulgence. The chicken wings were fried hot and crispy
and the ikan bilis with peanuts were delicious condiments.

Next, the Laksa - another gastronomic experience. The gravy - the most important part - was thick and full of flavour. All the ingredients, especially the prawns, were incredibly fresh. Even though it was 8pm, the food was still being prepared with such freshness.

Another impressive point worth mentioning was the care taken by the order taker to ensure that the customers got exactly what they asked for - all special requests were attended to with precision.

I will definitely be back for more - perhaps the tahu goreng the next time!!

I think their popiah is the best thing on their menu. This time I tried the mee rebus. It's very very average if not below average.

There is something missing. There is no kick. It's not like the malay hawkers make. This is like a fake copy. Rather disappointing. There is no lime to squeeze over the mee rebus. The soup lacks a certain flavour. It's not spicy enough and there's not much in the dish at all! Just some yellow noodles, some egg and some tofu. At the malay hawker, for $2, you get a whole lot more and tastier too! It cost $3.80 here!

It was very salty as well. Not recommended for mee rebus. Stick with the popiah.

When I first started buying Nasi Lemak from Qiji, it only cost $3 something. Now it costs $4.80!

Anyway the set that I ordered was the Nasi Lemak Set 7 which comprises Ikan Bilis with nuts, Egg, Otah, Chicken Cutlets and their sambal.
This set is pretty good in my opinion.
The Otah has always been my favourite dish of the Nasi Lemak from here. Probably one of the best Otah's I've ever tried!
The Ikan Bilis however has a tendency of being too salty at times.
The chicken cutlet can definitely be improved by cutting down on the layer of skin on it as by the time it is eaten, the skin is very soggy hence making the chicken taste not as good!

Other than that, the nasi lemak from Qiji is a must try!!

Having tried the popiah before, I wanted to buy a roll home from a different outlet to see if their quality are the same. I was not disappointed. By the time I got home, the popiah was a little soggy, but this was understandable. The skin was thin and the fillings were generous too. I like their sweet black sauce, which is generous without breaking the skin. I think the popiah tastes better when freshly made.

Qi Ji is very famous for its popiah though they do sell other dishes like Laksa and Nasi Lemak but the Popiah is the best. You can spot their popiah apart from those from other stalls quite easily, it is usually longer, a lot firmer and most importantly, the color of the sweet sauce will give it away. The dark sweet sauce always show through the translucent skin. Their handmade skin is not too thick and rather chewy in texture. The turnip stuffing is usually rather soft and flavorful, it tasted

The turnip stuffing is usually rather soft and flavorful, it tasted even nicer with extra chilli. YUM!

Strongly recommended.
