Yes, the night seemed to come alive, and the view is breathtaking - I believe Singapore's sensual night views have overtaken many urban cities' in recent years. The glowing Singapore Flyer making its rounds against the dark nightskies, the colors of the various skycrapers flanking the iconic MBS, and the Laser Shows etc were all worth the extra SGD$20.00 we paid for the windows seat.

The Beau had a starter of Duck Consomme, Braised Duck Leg, Truffle Ravioli (SGD$20.00) . The consomme broth was herbal in nature, but strangely warm instead of hot, hence the grease was illuminated. The ravioli melted in the mouth, and the braised duck leg was crispy around the edges; the pairing was excellent.

For mains, The Beau had the Slow-cooked Pork Cheek and Belly, Mushroom Escabeche, Coriander (SGD$58.00). The pork cheek was not cooked to a tenderness as I had hoped it to be, but instead was crisp and delicious in a chewy manner. The pork belly flanked some fatty parts and was an overall texture tease of tender flesh and bouncy parts.

For desserts, we shared a Poached William Pear (SGD$18.00)- with scented Rooibos tea, honey, lemongrass sorbet and served with a lovely dash of dry ice, making the place so beautifully misty. The lemongrass sorbet was utterly refreshing, and paired with the grainy-textured sweetened pear, made this dessert an excellant choice.

Finally got a chance to try Equinox. Went there for my anniversary and managed to get a seat by the window. I then found out that a seat by the window has a surcharge! But nevertheless, we wanted to try dining by the window so we took it up. The view was awesome! Eating while facing the CBD buildings was amazing. Go during evening so that you can see both day and night sceneries! Sit away from the window and it feels very much like an ordinary restaurant.

Service-wise was so-so. Though it was more towards fine-dining, the service did not reach that standard. Moreover, tables were too close to one another in my opinion. Feels like they were trying to maximise space and you could hear the conversations from the table beside!

We ordered Foie Gras and Pork Belly. Both were delicious! Just that the latter was a little dry for my liking. Serving size was not too big as expected, bu they had free flow bread for appetiser which filled our tummies.

Would visit again in future though, more for the view!

This restaurant is definitely one that has the best view from their window.  THe restaurant is very cosy and cooling, spacious and with comfortable seatings.  International buffet is served here and per adult cost about $60.  I enjoyed their fried mid wings as they are very crispy and meat is juicy and tender. Sliced cakes, especially the kaya cake is fragrant and not too sweet.  Also enjoyed their variety of sushi, which the rice is fragrant and very fresh ingredients are used in it.

Located on level 70 of Swissôtel The Stamford, this restaurant offers breathtaking views of the Singapore city scape, and decadent Modern European fine dining. The mains were average portions which were nicely presented. The first thing you notice at Equinox is not its food. It's the beautiful view at 69 floors high, that overlooks Singapore’s CBD and all over Marina Bay. We made our reservation days back for a high tea buffet which is 330-5pm. There were the breads, scones, the local snacks such as egg tarts, kueh lapis, malay kuehs etc. Other side were the chocolate mousse cakes, walnut carrot cakes & etc. Other worthy bites are the mini lemon meringue tarts and chocolate fruit tarts. The tart itself were really crunchy and simply delicious.

Western selection include salmon sandwiches, baked pasta, stew beef, meatballs and some main dishes. There were Beijing roast duck wraps and salads. The Chinese selection includes dim sum buns and dumplings - and there are bentos of sushi assortment for sushi lover. Despite it being a high tea buffet, I find the spread rather wide. The buffet includes free flow of TWG teas such as Honey Chamomile, English Breakfast, Grey Earl etc. However, Premium tea flavors are additional charged. Ice cream of diff unique flavors is available as well! The food quality for its high tea buffet will definitely simpler in comparison to the lunch and dinner buffet.

I find the high tea duration is too short, it's only 90 mins & we were chomping our food down quickly. It would be great if it's 2 hours or so. Read more on the food here, http://jacqsowhat.blogspot.sg/2013/06/swissotel-equinox-restaurant-high-tea.html

Once known as Compass Rose, Equinox is no stranger to the dining scene having been touted as the city's tallest dining sky scraper before the likes of 1-Altitude appearing.

Perched on 70 floors, it still has the best view of the city and is still highly sought after for buffet lunch and sunday brunch.

The original intent was to head to Mikuni that was unsurprisingly full for the night and then we headed to Equinox. Why not, since none of us had been there before. City view seats we missed out but we had adequate time to enjoy the views before the patrons arrived.

Two rounds of bread were served before mains decided to make their grand appearance. A mighty long time to wait for food and truth be told, the bread filled us up considerably. Sour dough, mini baguette, onion olive and cheese bun all smelt heavenly. Personal favourite went to the onion olive roll for being fluffy and fragrant.

Salted french butter to top it off.

Amuse bouche of tomato and cucumber, a savoury yet refreshing starter.

Baked Scallop in Shell, White Wine, Fennel, Broad Bean Ragout, Warm Leek Vinaigrette ($30)

Theatrics aside of unearthing the overfed scallop, it looked hardly marinated. The bouncy texture was a gastronomical delight, the doneness was executed precisely and well, the broth was good enough to drink up on its own.

Yuzu Glazed Pork Belly, Butternut Squash, Sage, Crackling, Peas and Shimeiji Mushroom Broth ($68)

I should have been more wary with "roasted" nowhere mentioned in the description, neither did "slightly crispy" in the waiter's words not cause some alarm when I expected it to be done roast pork style with a cackling so addictive, I would give up my allegiance to roast pork.

Yet it was none to be. Jellied fats and meat in perfect layers, and though it melted into a greasy delicious, the over marinated meat was nothing more than ham. A great pity for a promising chunk.

Australian Pink Snapper, Bravas Potatoes, Broad Beans, Chorizo, Charred Squid, Black Ink Vinaigrette ($75)

The worst stoke of luck with a terribly fishy slab and all the waiter could manage was "anything else for you?", by then we were all too stuffed to bother with a replacement.

Poached Salmon Fillet, Star Anise Oil, Braised Lettuce, Beetroot Gnocchi, Razor Clam Sauce ($68)

Beautifully poached with some degree of rawness, I loved the razor clam inclusion.

Loin of Welsh Lamb, Slow-Cooked Shoulder, Tomato, White Bean Ragout, Confit Baby Shallots, Verde Sauce ($70)

Lamb done three ways and kudos to the white been ragout that was simple but yet so delicious with the crumbled topping.

Hazelnut Praline ($24)
Hazelnut creme, Espuma, Mandarin Orange, Lemon Coulis

Meant for one but good enough for four with a mouthful eat. I do not suppose I want more than a mouthful of this, however. Hazelnut cream and mandarin orange was an odd bittersweet then sour flavour. Crunchy bits of torched candy and the rest is all a mismatch.

Disappointing to say the least, we expected way much more out of Equinox apart from the unbeatable view. No wonder it is usually full during Restaurant Week - prices are more justifiable that way.

We ended off our dinner with their famous creme brulee
It is served on a sizzling pan and lighted up the surface of the dessert. Woah~~

A perfect view of the CBD up in 70 storeys high.
However, the price is rather steep as compared to other fine dining restaurant.

Had dinner at Equinox Restaurant - the much acclaimed restaurant perched right at the top of Swissotel The Stamford, on the 69th storey no less, which at 226m, gives it one of the highest vantage points in Singapore. Famed more for its bird's eye view than its Asian and Western cuisines, Equinox has consistently made it to various Singapore restaurant publications as one of the top restaurants in Singapore nevertheless.

From the moment you step out of the express elevator, the panoramic backdrop of Singapore's urban landscape greets you through floor to ceiling windows. The amphitheatre styled restaurant is tastefully designed with subtle oriental influences through the use of wood and overhanging red Chinese lanterns. The world slows to a crawl in this elegant restaurant, giving one a sense of space and serenity, perfect for a laid back dinner.

The complimentary bread looked really appetising with lots of variety but the truth of the matter was, it was lousy. Most of the bread was dry and hard and probably the only decent one was the bun with sugar and cheese but even then, it was too sweet. It definitely didn't help that the accompanying butter was rock hard as well.

Cappucino of Wild Mushrooms - The soup sure didn't look enticing, especially with the seemingly charred black slice of toast atop. But to give it credit, it tasted decent but did come across as a tad too oily for my liking. There was definitely nothing wild about the taste and I can probably get better mushroom soup elsewhere at a fraction of the price. (I'm not sure how much it costs because it comes with my degustation menu, but being Equinox, you can be sure it isn't going to be cheap).

Roasted Japanese Scallops - Plain bland would be most apt in describing the scallops. Huge as they were, they were neither sweet nor juicy. Interestingly, straddled in between pieces of scallops were scallop lookalike soft and wobbly pieces of Boudin Blanc, white sausages made from pork without the blood, which had a faint liver taste. So in actual fact, there were only 3 pieces of scallops.

Tian of Mud Crab and Avocado - Just a little background on the word Tian. Its actually a square or rectangular French casserole dish originally used for baking. Fanciful names and aesthetics aside, the mud crab and avocado was decent, with the rawness of the crab not overpowering. The bits of avocado in between provided a refreshing change from the monotony of the crab.

Roast Foie Gras Escalope - I shuddered as I took my first bite of the foie gras. First there came shock and then disappointment started to set in. It was neither soft nor wobbly! I am really appalled at such standards. However, I must say that the honey cake that came alongside was spongy and actually made the foie gras bearable.

White Miso Glazed Cod - I've always liked cod fish and Equinox's rendition of the cod was quite good, with the flesh being soft and smooth yet firm enough to retain its form. However I did find the drizzled white miso sauce a little too sweet which made me nauseous after a while. Thank god for the greens that came with it!

Tenderloin of Beef 'Rossini' - Done up medium rare as per my request, the beef was absolutely disappointing. Dry and tough doesn't even begin to describe it. Portions were small and it lacked the sweetness and beefy taste that all decent beef should have. What more can I say

Hazelnut Chocolate Bar - I liked this quite a bit. The chocolate bar was quite smooth yet not too rich with a nice crunchy biscuit base. Accompanying the chocolate bar was a nice scoop of mint ice cream which I don't usually like, but this one was light and sat very well with me.

Sweet Temptation - Milk Chocolate Orange Gateau, Fig and Sangria Gelee & Yoghurt Sorbet, Contemporary Apple Tart & Nougat Chips, Araguani Chocolate Cream & Vanilla Chantilly & Coffee Granite - Overall the dessert platter was decent. For starters, the milk chocolate orange gateau was rather interesting with the chocolate gateau hinting strongly of orange. Quite a nice combination in my humble opinion.

I didn't quite take to the fig and sangria gelee though, as I'm not exactly a fan of fig or sangria. And the texture of the gelee (jello) reminded me of hardened "kuay" then anything else. The yoghurt sorbert was alright though but nothing fantastic.

The contemporary apple tart's biscuit was a tad too hard and dry but the apple cubes were nice without being too sweet or sour. Having said that, it wasn't exactly wow for me.

The highlight of the dessert platter has to be the Araguani chocolate cream. Topped with vanilla chantilly (cream) and coffee granite, this combination proved to be rather interesting when everything was mixed together. Bitter and sweet altogether. The addition of chocolate balls to this dessert gave it a nice crunchy texture as well.

Expectations, expectations, expectations. That's what it all boils down to. Seriously, the food isn't bad, just that I had high expectations of it with all the hype and of course the steep pricing, standing at > $310 for 2 pax. Service is good but honestly, the food's not worth returning for. For the view and ambience, maybe.
