Infact, both soup came already full of flavour. Not those plain tasteless type where you have to boil for a long time with the ingredients for the soup to have flavour.

For the Meat, you'll have to order from staffs instead of helping yourself at the buffet table. This way, the meat maintains fresh and you are less likely to over-take. Quite like what Suki-ya is doing.

The selection at the buffet table is very limited. Mostly vegetables, hardly any meatballs as well. They have their own specialty minced meat like minced chicken with cheese, but it doesnt taste nice to me.

The best is still the meat, which is thinly sliced and soaks up the broth well.

The soft serve is okay, with slightly heavier milk taste than most outside ones. We only had our ice cream at 9+ after the last order and hardly any toppings are left so we were a little disappointed.

The meat was quite nice and since they were sliced very thinly, they cooked easily in a matter of seconds. They were not marinated but were tasty when dipped and cooked in the soup base. We only had 5 trays of meat as it was limited. The other ingredients were also fresh but varieties were quite limited (i.e. the vegetables counter). The soup base (curry and pork) was decent and did not taste salty like it was m.s.g. laden. The curry soup base was not spicy though. Dinner was priced reasonably

Dinner was priced reasonably at $24.99++ per pax. There is also an ice-cream counter but ice-cream tasted cheap and is a miss.

After a minor renovation, the 5th floor of Causeway Point has become a place when F&B outlets gathered. You can find Gurney Drive, Paradise Dynasty, Crystal Jade Kitchen and many more. After a minor renovation, the 5th floor of Causeway Point has become a place when F&B outlets gathered. You can find Gurney Drive, Paradise Dynasty, Crystal Jade Kitchen and many more. And Shabu Sai is one of them.

As it is Saturday evening, long queue is expected plus long wait. If the food is worth waiting, once awhile is still fine for me. I was with my friends and waited for at least half an hour, I guess. Only at about 8+pm then we get our seat for 6 pax + a baby.

At a price of $24.99++ for adult, we eat all we can. Plus $1.99 each pax, you get free flow of soft drinks and soft serve. Yes soft serve is ice cream. Kids will be happy about that. You get to choose 2 soup bases from 6 of their choices. We chose Curry Dashi Soup and Tonkotsu Shouyu Soup. And I love the curry soup so throughout the meal, my food are dip in curry. I can't resist the great taste. It is a buffet style so we select what we want from their food station. A variety of sauces for you to take and mix too. The only food that they will serve you is their meat. Just let them know your preference (Pork, Beef or Chicken). We chose all three. But the best among the 3 is beef. Yummy.

I'm a lousy person when comes to buffet as I always take those cheap ones like noodles, fishballs, crabsticks and etc. They have udon, ramen and glass noodles. But surprisingly, their udon is fantastic. It is soft and smooth. I cook them in curry soup. Very nice. My friend and I love it and took another serving. Also the glass noodles can absorb the curry taste quite easily.

Last order for meat at 9.30pm and they close at 10pm. So if you are a meat eater, order more before times up. Soft serve too. My godson wanted to get for me but too bad, finished. So I had a spoonful of it from my friend. He put a overflowing of rainbow chocolates and is too sweet. I rather have a plain one.

The overall meal is satisfying and I'm too full, mainly because of udon. So choose wisely. It is a best place for friends gathering.

I was wandering around at Causeway point, trying to find a nice place for lunch to treat my dear Mum. To my surprise, I realize that level 5 has been revamped with more eating outlets. For just $14.99++ (weekday lunch), you get a all-you-can-eat Shabu-Shabu & Sukiyaki buffet. - The offer that attracted me

I have been to several steamboat buffets before, but this is definitely the cleanest one I've been to! Their vegetables are placed oh so prettily & neatly on a counter with billowing cold fumes to maintain their freshness. I like the cute little descriptive wooden labels penned in both English & Japanese for the ingredients.

- Tips on how to order for your Shabu-Shabu buffet

We had a choice of 2 different soup bases. I prefer savory to sweet, so I did not order their sukiyaki base. We went for the spicy soup & the tonkotsu shoyu soup. Surprisingly, the spicy soup base (mum's preferred choice) was not really spicy at all and was actually saltier compared to the tonkotsu shoyu (my preferred choice) soup. I think the boiling point for the tonkotsu shoyu soup is lower than the spicy soup base as it tends to boil over much faster than the other. Thankfully, you can adjust the levels of the temperature for the pot. The soup bases were generally tasty although they did not seem to match exactly with my expectations based on the descriptions of the soup bases. You can readily ask for top-up of soup anytime during your meal, and service was prompt.

- The various soup bases for topping up

We also chose all 3 kinds of meat available - pork, beef & chicken. They came in nice big black boxes showing the freshly sliced meat. So that's a total of 6 boxes of meat for the 2 of us! There's no free flow of meat but what they provide is already more than enough, in my opinion. The shabu-shabu meat cooked fast & were lovely when dipped into the sauce of your choice.

- Finely sliced pork, beef & chicken

Ah, did I mention that they have a variety of sauces & condiments for your mixing pleasure? I liked the rich sesame sauce which went well with the meat slices.

- The DIY sauce bar

The beef had quite a lot of fat, but if you like your meat that way, then it's good! My diet just went out of the window with the beef. BUT...there's plenty of free-flow vegetables to balance the meal! That's on top of their special pork/beef stuffed in bamboo. That item flies off the counter real fast, but we managed to try the beef one. It's basically minced beef which I found to be too salty. There's ramen noodles & udon noodles available too at the counter. Word of caution: Do not cook your ramen noodles for too long, as mine became too soft.

Wow, we were simply stuffed at the end of our meal, but feeling really satisfied.
This is definitely a good deal if you can make it for a weekday lunch. I think it's still worth-it to try at other times of the day even though it's pricier.

Prices are more expensive for dinners & weekends as is the case with most restaurants.

Weekday dinner: $22.99++, Weekend lunch: $19.99++, Weekend dinner: $24.99++
Free-flow drinks at a top-up of $1.99++
