Then I had a very yummy red dates sticky pudding with vanilla ice cream and really good toffee sauce. What I like about it is not too sweet.

They have also ordered a rich lime tart, but is alittle too sweet for me.

Tonight *Joseph the friend and I shared a Sticky Date Pudding (SGD$12.90) - the one food item I was finally impressed by. The vanilla ice-cream was a plus point, but the sweet and sticky dessert itself was delicious. It was sweet but not toothache-inducing, and the date (fig?) flavor was strongly distinctive, giving the pastry a very lovely taste. The lemon custard sauce added a twist to the flavor.

I also had Rose and Berries Sangria (SGD$18.00) - frozen seasonal berries, rose buds and lemon wedges infused in rose wine with a dash of lemon soda - making this an utterly refreshing and tantalising drink. I love the combination simply, and the sweetness of it all was very soothing, perfect ladies' kind of drinks.

Overall, service was quite bad. If the host is not at the counter upon your arrival, you have to stand there to wait till the host comes back even though the server staff saw you. The server staff will only come and usher you to a table if the host is still not back after some time. We waited for about 8 mins standing there though there were so many empty tables at that time. I find this service very stupid actually. The staff were all very busy at most of the time during weekend brunch so the attitude on some staff was not very good while some was really nice.
Anyway the food here was quite good with huge portion but at steep prices. You can dine at hotel ambience with such prices actually. The ambience here was very noisy type with many foreigners. I preferred to brunch at a peaceful environment like Antoinette. Probably will try the PS cafe at Palais branch next time. Despite the poor service with steep prices, their business is still super good! The crowd keep come and go non-stop.

Crispy Soft Shell Crab Sandwich ($31)
The sandwich consisted of the tempura soft shell crab, lettuce, caramelised onions, with tomato chilli jam, avocado salsa on Turkish bread. Although the name said that the soft shell crab was supposed to be crispy, the tomato chilli took away all the crispiness of the soft shell crab. Taste wise, the soft shell crab was nothing fantastic, although we did love the tomato chilli jam, being sweet and sour at the same time. The avocado salsa could barely be tasted, almost didn’t realise it was there!

The sandwich was served with a serving of fresh vegetables salad in this sweet dressing that we all preferred as compared to the salad served with the turkey sandwich. There was also a serving of sweet potato wedges, they might be tasty, but you get filled immediately after just a bite!

Double Chocolate Blackout Cake with Ice Cream ($14.90)
We were shocked by how huge the slice of the cake was! Thankfully the cake was real good, it was rich with just the right moisture. The vanilla ice cream was ordinary though. Even so, with the additional warm chocolate syrup that the cake is drenched in, topped with some cold vanilla ice cream, I guess we can say it was a good wrap to our meal.

This was a simple pasta with mushroom, chicken and cheese... But, it was so YUMMY! The chef was generous with the ingredients, lotza chicken and mushroom to go with the penne in every spoonful.

Double Chocolate Cake

This is a MUST-TRY! "Awfully chocolate" ( erm, dun think there is copy right for using this term right? =p) and absolutely sinful!

The chocolate cake is warm & moist, the chocolate sauce is thick & dark, and the icecream is sweet & milky. They complement each other perfectly! ^_^

the verdict?

i loved it.

the black cherries were sweet and soaked in rum. the mascarpone cheese was just enough to cover the espresso rum soaked fingers and guess what? there were more cherries within.

although i would've loved it even more if the cherries on top were fresh black cherries, i loved it enough this way to do a repeat order the very next night!

We had a Roast Chicken Sandwich which was pretty good, chicken was tender and I like the variety of fillings in the sandwich. And we ended the meal with their popular Double Chocolate Blackout Cake. Loved this cake so much I think it's the best chocolate cake I've ever tasted! But do note that it's a huge piece that they will serve so remember to share!

The P.S Cafe at Dempsey. This dish is a snapper fillet on smoked salmon with figs, grilled potatoes and veggie compote. I like fish as compared to meaty stuff so this meal appeals to me. The snapper is done quite well but the salmon could have been a little softer - less cooked (i love half cooked salmon). The vegetables are passable and not wonderful, but the sauce goes well with the fish.

PS cafe exudes a pretty nice vibe, I believe it would have been much better if it's not so crowded. It'll be a really nice place to sip a cup of coffee.

I ordered the Eggs Benedict while my aunt and sis shared the PS Harding Club. I think the food was pretty normal. Nothing to rave about. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs ben was kinda bland. I was expecting a burst of flavour when I first took a bite, but it seems like the sauce and egg and muffin were all separate bodies. You could taste each of them individually and I thought that was really weird.

I tried the PS Harding Club, which was like a club sandwich, it was pretty normal. I've had better ones at Antoinette and the Lantern.

And of cos, we ordered the very famous Truffle Fries. I've to join the rest and agree that it really came as a MOUNTAIN. The truffle oil smell was pretty strong. It's my first time trying truffle fries and I kinda like it. The serving was so huge, the 3 of us can't even finish half of it. The fries were pretty addictive. Eat it while they are hot!

We ordered drinks and a sticky date pudding to share afterwards, which I ate 3/4 of it. They only took a bite and stopped! But boy, the sticky date pudding was sooo good! It's my first time eating it and I wonder what took me so long to discover such yummy dessert! In my aunt's term, it called the english 'huat kueh'. And she claims that the one at Marmalade Pantry is even better. That gives me a reason to give MP a visit next time!

The sticky date pudding came warm and served with lots of caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect combination! The vanilla ice cream was super good! You could see some black dots in it, and I believe its the vanilla seed used to made it. There was a very strong vanilla taste and it was just splendid!

I was so satisfied with the Sticky Date Pudding, I forgot all about the disappointment the eggs benedict brought. Please be warned that the sticky date pudding is really really sweet and gelat and the portion is big, so it's better to share.

Overall, PS cafe had some hits and misses. But I reckon I won't be back so soon since it's not exactly affordable for me plus there are better options elsewhere.

PS Café is super crowded. And, because they take no reservations, this is one place that really redefines the idea of brunch, in that you gotta wake up real early and be there by 10 am to get a table. To me, eating at 10 am on a weekend does not count as brunch. That's considered breakfast. But clearly, the early bird does get the worm. Around here at least. So if you love sleeping in, be prepared to wait it out, like those poor sods we saw fanning themselves by the outdoor patio in the muggy heat of Singapore, for a table to open up.

I can't understand the fuss about PS Café though. The food's plainly unimpressive and service is flustered and harried.

We had:

1) Portobello Stack ($24): barely passable. The brioche is nothing like Wild Honey's thick buttery toasties. These actually seemed like toasted white bread. The poached eggs, while done to a good semi-runny consistency, was disappointingly tasteless. Even with the drizzle of balsamic reduction. Save for the juicy, pesto-topped grilled tomatoes and deconstructed potato gratin, which was more pancake than gratin anyway, the bacon and portobello were standard, unmemorable fare

2) PS Bacon & Eggs ($27) was an epic fail with its evidently overfried-to-a-rubbery-state eggs. The baked beans were of the generic canned variety and the toast forgettable. Only the chorizo sausage, grilled tomatoes and streaky bacon were worth eating, which isn't saying much, seeing as they require little effort in grilling them

While the egg dishes were clearly lackluster, I did try my friend's shepherd's pie, which was pretty darn good. It was hearty and juicy and delicious. And the cream of mushroom was very decent as well, thick and chunky and wholesome. If I had to go back, those would be my picks for a return visit.
