Our food arrived in about 8mins and Shogayaki pork Donburi was so nicely decorated and taste so shiok with so special sauce on the Japanese rice. The tofu is sliced in small piece for visual effect. I also saw some black sesame seed which need to overall fragrance.

Chicken teriyaki is not as special plus paste noodles is look good. Taste is quite normal and not the best noodles I have come across so far.

Drink of this passion fruits is very good. Overall have a mixtures of sweet and sour. It of this drink not to be miss if you are here.

We also ordered a French toast as dessert, it was quite nice but eat it quicker or the taste won't be as nice when it turned cold. Overall, a nicely decored restaurant with not bad food.

As part of the 2 free drinks offered with the set, we took the Iced Matcha Latte w/ Matcha Softee ($8.80) and the Miam Miam Haze aka London Fog ($6.80).

My heart lies with the Matcha Latte. The softee was just went too well with the latte and it was a burst of green tea goodness!

Just to note that their high tea set menus will be available from Mondays to Fridays from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

Hojicha Pancake - Pancake infused with green tea flavour and topped with mochi balls, azuki and hojicha whip. I loved the hojicha whip!

Miam Miam, which means “yum yum” in French, marries the ingredients of Japanese cuisine together with French artisanal cooking techniques. Offerings are made from scratch, using only the freshest and most sustainably sourced ingredients. Food and desserts are prepared upon order, hence do set aside a sufficient time to thoroughly enjoy a meal at Miam Miam, as many items require 15-20 minutes wait.
The ambiance is casual yet trendy. The back (not pictured) of Bugis Junction outlet looks prettier, decorated with pastel coloured chairs that add a whimsical touch. Service is lovely -staff merrily chirp “Bonjour” and “Merci” when diners arrive and leave. Drizzled in light Caesar dressing, topped with smoked chicken and sprinkled with parmesan cheese, the French Salad ($7.50) was surprisingly appetizing, despite its humble appearance.
The signature pasta, Miam Miam Spaghetti ($16.80) twirled its way into my heart. The al dente strands were tossed in a captivating concoction of French butter, secret broth and shoyu, then bumped up with frankfurters, tomatoes, baby spinach, eggplant, shimeiji mushrooms and bacon. A single half-boiled egg completes the wholesome dish.
If you prefer more oomph, go for the Lobster Bisque Pasta ($20.80), which features a savoury and rich soup base, grilled tiger prawn and parmesan cheese. Every aspect was delightful except for the prawn, which was overcooked, dry and tough.
Cheese lovers will adore the Mac and Cheese ($15.80)! Served bubbling, the over-baked fresh pasta shells are coated with a combination of 4 special cheeses and blanketed with crunchy Japanese breadcrumbs.
Served piping hot in a casserole, Riz Au Curry ($14.80) is essentially baked rice with homemade Japanese curry, pork frankfurters broccoli, cheese and a wobbly sunshine egg. I find curry too salty and was struggled to finish it. The portion is small for the price tag.
This is my first time trying savoury soufflé. Miam Miam’s Souffle De Nuage($17.80) is an interesting dish of ham, chicken and shimeiji mushrooms mixed with tomato sautéed rice topped with clouds of egg and cheese. The soufflé’s texture is amazing- airy and fluffy, but lacked a prominent flavour. Halfway through, my stomach felt queasy (too much air?) and hence I only ate the baked rice, which was lovely.
Miam Miam is well-known for thier sweet treats. I highly recommend the French Toast, Soufflé Pancakes and Chocolate Soufflé. Thick cuts of pillowy French Toast ($15.80) are stacked together, doused in maple infused syrup, dusted with icing sugar and crowned with airy whipped cream. It’s very filling and can be a meal on its own. I can see why this is an all-time favourite. Price is steep but I’m willing to ignore that as it’s just soooo good!

The Original Soufflé Pancakes ($8.80) put all the regular pancakes that I’ve had in this lifetime to shame. Its soft and fluffy texture is a dream.

Soufflés are commonly served in fine dining restaurants but you can enjoy them at Miam Miam without breaking the bank. The utterly divine Valrhona Chocolate ($13.80) has an ethereally soft and airy texture and a oozing chocolate centre. Hands down the best soufflé I’ve tried so far

I would’ve liked the Berries Cheese Cake Parfait ($12.80) if there was some gelato layered between the fresh berries, digestive biscuits and cream cheese.

On weekdays from 11.30am to 2.30pm, Miam Miam @ Bugis Junction serves complimentary soup of the day with every main course ordered. For an additional $2, you’ll get a coffee or tea.
To sum up, I’m pleased with Miam Miam’s quality offerings can see myself revisiting for that much needed mid-week perk me up.

Other Info. : Miam Miam Signature Pasta, Original Souffle Pancakes, Valrhona Chocolate Souffle, French Toast

We went for a Berries Cheesecake Parfait (SGD 11.80) and a Valrhona Chocolate Souffle (SGD 13.80) and received a Matcha pancake for free. To our disappointment, the Parfait was ordinary, Matcha Pancake was plain and taste like a piece of bread, but worse of all the Souffle was unpleasant...it didn't rise that well, very gooey and way too sweet. Overprice, the poor food quality definitely not worth it. They don't know how to make proper dessert.

The first time I visited Miam Miam was on a very random occasion whereby we were so tired and hungry from the shopping that we just want to get a seat and grab something to eat. Miam Miam happens to be the first cafe we saw. The dining space is casual and the open concept gives a full view of their centerpiece kitchen. So I was super excited when Jess extended her invites to me for their food tasting session. It was after this dinner that I not only get to try out some of their signature dishes but also understand more about this place. First and foremost, let's start with the name of this cafe. It's not call Miam Miam just because it sounds nice, but it's actually means Yum Yum in French. Incidentally, Miam Miam is a French-Japanese cafe kitchen offering delectable dishes made from scratch and with top-grade ingredients.

Dishes are at price range which are pretty comfortable to most of us with the highest priced item only at $18.80. They believe that exquisite flavours should not only be for the elite, so they are committed to deliver amazing flavours at affordable prices to the masses.

There was quite a bit of waiting time for the food to be served but that is only because their kitchen operations follow the industry's best practices to deliver consistently hot and fresh meal. Even though they might have already know the dishes to be served to us and could have prepared in advance, they did not do that.

So, meanwhile I ordered myself a cup of Matcha White Chocolate (S$7.80). I fall in love with it from the first sip. The creamy white chocolate combines with the green tea creates a warm, smooth and not too sweet drink that is perfect for any time of the day. Grade 1 matcha is used in all their matcha drinks.

The first main dish that was served is their Riz Noir/Squid Ink Rice (S$16.50). The squid ink rice was well camouflage with the serving pan and I have to brighten the photo. It's made with top grade ika sumi powder imported from Hokkaido. Hidden inside the rice are assorted seafood made up of prawns, squids and clams. The omu egg taste a bit blend by itself so have to eat with the rice. The only concern about this dish is the consciousness of getting black teeth. We all ate this in a very careful manners. Haha.

Modern Yaki (S$14.80) is extremely delicious. It was aglio olio with all my favourite ingredients and toppings. Cabbages, mushrooms, bonito flakes, seaweeds, Japanese mayonnaise, sesame and not forgetting an omelette. Almost all of their dishes would include egg. I was told that each portion of their raw pasta is measured at 110g and is then doused in boiling water and cooked for exactly 7.5 minutes to achieve the perfect bite and texture. This perfectly engineered dish came about because the kitchen at Miam Miam subscribes to the Japanese ideologies of kaizen and kanban in its food and preparation practices. Kaizen refers to the practice of continuous improvement and kanban of a scheduling system that ensures lean and just-in-time production. The precise and disciplined approach can be tasted in each plate of their pasta.

The next dish is Souffle Au Curry (S$15.50). This dish was really a big eye opener to me. My impression of souffle is only for dessert, never thought that it could be made into a main course by itself. It was really amazing to find curry rice with pork, broccoli, cheese and egg inside. The souffle is so fluffy it just melts in your mouth.

Take a break and drink some ice-water. Even their ice water is so special. Instead of using lemon slices, slices of green apple and mint leaves are used.

Yay, and dessert was served! This is their Famous French Toast (S$9.80). The whipped cream is home made with egg white and sugar. Perfect with the maple syrup, just PERFECT! Love it.

Yah, the Souffle that I know of. Valrhona Chocolate Souffle (S$13.80). If the French Toast is perfect, this is happiness! They have other flavours like vanilla and matcha too. I think I'm going back soon again to try their vanilla souffle.

Dessert wise, I find that their Famous French Toast [$9.80] is better than the other cafes that served pretty similar ones. I personally love the Soufflé Pancake (not very much with the cream chesse though).

I had the Matcha Hot Chocolate (SGD$7.80) because it sounded interesting, and I thought I could have the best of both worlds. This was a warm treat, but I did not detect any chocolate taste sadly. The green tea flavor was layered with a very thick creamy flavor - which we deduce that the chocolate they used must bewhite or milk chocolate.

Then our mains arrived, the Miam Mian Spaghetti (SGD$15.80) - comprising of very homely ingredients such as bacon, tomatoes eggplant, sunny sideup egg and vegetables - but the flavor was out of this world good. The pasta being springy were bonus points, helping us understand why this is one of their most popular dishes.

We shared dessert of Apples & Granola Pancakes (SGD$13.80) - crunchy smith and red apples tossed in cinnamon, and raisins and crunchy granola - atop a thick, smooth disc of a most tasty pancake. The pancake came in a very familiar and wholesome buttery flavor that kept reminding me of a Chinese pastry I ate as a kid, oh and the scoop of vanilla ice-cream was literally the perfect icing on the cake.

Been to the outlet at bugis junction for a few times and the food there is awesome. I would like to recommend the miam miam spagetti. It is stir fried with olive oil and onions, topped with an egg. Something different from the normal creamy or tomato based spagetti, nor is it the same as aglio olio. The egg on top is runny and very tempting. I'm always a fan of half boiled egg. Their standard of the runny egg is always consistently and never disappointing. Blending in the egg to the spagetti, it makes the spagetti not so dry and have a mild taste of the lingering egg yolk taste.
Another pasta I tried is the carbonara. Since it is a common pasta dish, I purposely ordered it to try their standard and taste of it. Indeed, it did not fail my expectation. The creamy sauce is tasty and not too much milk such that we get tired of the taste at the end of the meal. This is served with a runny egg yolk as well, and sausages. Both pastas are well - cooked, not too hard for my liking.

Last but not least, the dessert is not bad, their souffle etc. Everyone there has to order their famous french toast. The toast is sinfully topped with cream and maple syrup. However, because of these 2 ingredients, the well - toasted french bread is heavenly. Taste like pancakes it better. Definitely a must-try there!

Mains are less than 20 bucks, like normal restaurant rates though dessert is a bit pricey, 10+bucks. Service of the staff is not bad. But ice water has to be paid.

Overall, the experience is good.

Saving space for dessert is a must to end lunch on a high note. Apparently their top dessert is a simple dish of french toast. Was doubtful as how tasty french toast can be. Ordered and was blew out of this world as its extremely soft yet crispy on the outside.

Miam Miam is a French-Japanese cafe and they serve the usual Fusion Japanese cafe stuff e.g. pasta, baked rice, soufflé, matcha latte and of course french toast. Knowing that they do not take reservations, we made it down early to the Bugis Junction outlet on a Friday evening and an empty restaurant welcomed us (but not for long).
Drinks first, the Iced Matcha Latte with Softee ($8.80) was actually pretty decent. Great green tea flavor with a milky flavor, though I still prefer the intensity of Nana's Green Tea.
Iced Earl Grey with Softtee ($6.80) was bleah. The tea was too weak and the softee lacked in the cream department. Take note that water is charged at 50 cents a cup.
Gave the other savory dishes a try as well. The Riz Noir ($15.80) is a Squid Ink Black Rice and Scrambled Omu Egg. The portion was surprisingly small though. A rather disappointing dish that lacked in smokiness. The rice while moist was also on the salty end. Eggs were nicely done though.
The Miam Miam Spaghetti ($15.80) was typically Japanese with a light savory sauce made from French butter, shoyu and some secret sauce. Well, looking at the ingredients (processed sausage, bacon, some vegetables and mushrooms and a soft boiled egg), it seemed like a randomly thrown together plate of home cooked noodles and indeed it tasted kinda like that as well. Not to say that it's not nice but i would expect better ingredients.
If you are a fan of saucy food, then the Riz Au Curry ($15.50) would be for you. Sweetish rich Japanese curry with soft rice, minced meat (almost non-existent) pork sausages, broccoli cheese and egg. Everything kinda drowned in the curry. The flavor of the curry was alright but maybe just go easy on the sauce?
Now the redeeming grace of Miam Miam would be their desserts and there are pancakes, souffles and parfaits. Honestly, there's one thing that you definitely should order and that's the French Toast.
Disappointing mains aside, the French Toast ($9.80) was every bit as good as everyone promised. Soft fluffy brioche cubes that had the texture of clouds. They're paired with the thoroughly whipped heavy cream, it is close to clotted cream but lighter in taste (but sweeter) and texture. Absolutely delicious with the smoky maple syrup. I would have drenched the toast with it but there wasn't enough. Have this as a main course instead!
Matcha Souffle ($10.80) was undercooked and very wet inside. The texture is that of whipped raw egg whites that are pandan flavored. I could hardly taste any matcha.
The Chocolate Molleaux Dessert ($9.80) fared better with the rich chocolate taste though i found it on the cakey end. The softee was too icy and lacked in vanilla. That said, i wouldn't mind having this again.
Conclusion, Miam Miam is better for its sweets. The mains will fill you up but you wouldn't be quite satisfied. Maybe the pasta is alright. I don't know. But as for me, i'll stick with the French Toast and Matcha Latte for now.

At first thought, i thought miam miam will be some thai food but it is actually french fused with japanese! It is a fusion of french cuisine with japanese cooking styles. And miam miam is “yum yum” in french! Before going there, have read a few reviews about it and what are some of the must try dishes.

So we ordered their 3 popular dishes – Riz Au Curry ($14.80), Riz Noir Black Rice ($17.80) and Miam Miam Spaghetti ($15.80) Riz Au Curry is baked rice with homemade japanese curry, frankfurters, egg and broccoli. The curry is rich is flavour. At first mouth, you’ll appreciate the rich gravy of the curry and as its baked with cheese too, so there’s like bit and pieces of cheesy trails. Riz Noir Black Rice, squid ink rice with fresh succulent seafoods like calamari, prawns, scallops. & do you know, squid ink that has been infused into rice or pasta do not stain your teeth/mouth actually! Its only when during the process of cooking, they have used squid ink too, and that’s where the staining come about! But anyway, haha, Riz Noir Black Rice, gives the sea-salt taste. The moist rice pair well with the fluffy omelette as the rice is quite strong in the seafood taste, so it good to pair it with something light like the egg. Their Miam Miam spaghetti which is also their specialty, is served with a variety of ingredients like spinach, frankfurters, bacon, egg, eggplant and tomatoes. The staff told us to mixed the egg with the spaghetti before eating to have a better overall taste of the dish. The spaghetti is smoother and overall taste is alright but probably a lil salty. Overall dining experience is good, staffs there are friendly, price are generally still acceptable for mains but we find it a lil too pricy for the desserts.

We were told that our food would only arrive 20 minutes later. Lucky we were not too hungry and it was okay for our stomachs to wait! I am always intrigued by a Squid-ink based dish and ordered their Riz Noir, which is the french name for Squid-ink rice. Riz Noir consist of an omu egg on top of the squid-ink rice and an assortment of prawns and squids. I was actually taken aback by the portion size when it was served. I expected it to be much bigger! Anyway, the omelette looks fluffy but the taste was just soso. However, the squid ink rice is good! I like that it wasn't too strong, just nice!
I would love to come back here again for their souffles and drinks!

I am never really a fan of squid ink because I always feel that it was more for aesthetic purposes rather than taste. However the Riz Noir squid ink rice came with a distinct flavor, which was probably due to the ika sumi powder which the owners have imported all the way from Hokkaido. It also has a fragrant buttery taste which I love.

A recommended dish!

The well baked golden brown top promise you a great dish, and it certainly didn’t lie. Break into the puffy foamy souffle and dig into the tomato rice which is deliciously tangy sour. I love how the rice wasn’t all mushy and soft from over-baking, giving the entire dish a great balance in texture.

Exactly 110g of spaghetti to be cooked for exactly 7.5 minutes. The Miam Miam spaghetti has a strict set of steps in order to achieve its signature texture. Mixed in with their secret sauce recipe, it was a light tasting dish which I grew to appreciate. It is really good when you break the egg york and mix everything up!

I didn’t particularly like the texture of the spaghetti, finding it a little too hard. But to each of their own, there were others who love it and found it to be just right. Definitely a generous dish, for the ladies, you might have to share!

Looking devilishly yummy with the promise of a molten chocolate centre, this dessert disappoint us when the center turn out not so runny after all. A tad on the sweet side, I did prefer a little more bitterness to the chocolate since it is matched with a vanilla soft serve.

The pancake turn out a little harder than I would have like, but perhaps the frantic snapping of food porn have cooled it a little too much. With the yummy cinnamon and granny smith coated toppings, this is a dessert which can fill you up if you aren’t a big fan of mains.

Both souffles turn out perfect with puffed up tops which will be sure to make you salivate at sight! The flavors were subtle with a pretty distinct eggy flavour, coming across as a light tasting dessert. Definitely a choice which many will enjoy, but you are one who heavy handed when it comes to flavors, you might be slightly disappointed.

SGD 13.80 / SGD 10.80

VERDICT

Definitely a place which I would be back, I am already planning to head there again with my other foodie friends! The mains to me are the star attraction at Miam Miam with their robust flavors and perfect play of textures. Desserts could be a little better, but it is no less enjoyable digging into it.

With such a cosy environment and pocket friendly prices, I am sure you will find yourself a fan of this place like I did

When it was finally our turn at the queue after some 15 - 20 minutes, we were informed that tables will only be issued when all diners are present. We however noticed that there was a table of three ladies who were seated inside only to be joined later by two other friends and placing their orders subsequently. Equality does not always prevail, it seems. Anyhow, when our group was finally complete, we submitted our orders through ticking off a menu. We were advised accordingly that the pastry dishes would require a waiting time of about 40 minutes which I felt was a nice gesture for diners to adjust their expectations and particularly important if they are rushing off for a movie or some other planned activities post-dinner.

Riz Noir is the french name for black rice and at Miam Miam, they served an unexpected squid ink rice underneath a buttery-tasting omelette. The eggs were velvety smooth with a strong buttery fragrance. A scoop further revealed the essence of the dish; the rice had a unique colour to it with refined iodized flavour. The squid ink rice was cooked al dente and the texture of the grains was nicely complemented by the smoothness of the overlying eggs. Arguably among ourselves, some felt that the rice was a touch too salty for their liking while personally it was within my acceptable level.

There was quite a generous portion of squid, scallops and prawns in that rice but for a restaurant that takes pride in serving fresh seafood, I was rather disappointed with the quality of the prawns. Overall, the flavours were spot-on and good, particularly the squid which was cooked beautifully to give a nice elastic texture without tasting too rubbery.

For those who generally have a preference for cheesy and creamy food, this would suit your palate. Unfortunately, I am not quite a fan when it comes to creamy dishes for I find it satiates my appetite quite easily. Nonetheless, in all fairness, I felt that it was beautifully cooked and there was no denial that upon service, the waft of fragrance from the 'clouds' of eggs and cheese whetted our appetite!

The home-styled ketchup fried rice underneath that cloud tasted pedestrian standalone but when enjoyed with the oozing cheese, it could be quite a savoury mouthful. I would struggle to finish the dish on my own for the eggs and cheese would fill me up by the third or fourth spoonful.

With an impressive name, I found the taste to be a disappointing match to say the least. While I appreciate the efforts to introduce a few elements and flavours in the drink, it seemed too ambitious and the earl grey based tea failed to shine through in its own glory. With steamed milk and homemade vanilla syrup added to the hot beverage, it was ironically like what the name suggested, a hazy and foggy experience for my palate.

This might have an acquired taste on some but it surely did not work well for me. The serving glass for its price does not quite seem to do justice either. My first reaction upon service was, "Uhm...is that it?"

French Toast (S$9.80/++)

One key takeaway was I learnt the French name for French Toast - Pain Perdu or so we read off the menu. Starred as one of the key signature desserts, it had an interesting texture to it, quite distinctly different from what I had tried elsewhere.

Miam Miam's rendition tasted more like kueh or snacks made from rice flour or glutinous rice base. Unlike the usual toasts which have a soft and fluffy inside, this was dense and could be quite a filling dessert. Once again, I felt that this could potentially be quite a controversial dish as I know that some people might enjoy the texture for what it is while others, myself included, have a preference for the more traditional French Toasts with fluff.

I could not quite bear to enjoy the cream that was scooped into the shape of ice cream. The cream was rather rich and definitely not reserved for the calories-conscious. Separately, I found myself enjoying this dessert better simply by drizzling the maple syrup over the warm toasts.

Matcha Soufflé (S$10.80/++)

There was a beautiful crust to the soufflé as evident with that golden-brown tan on its surface. If you want to take a snapshot, I would advise you to do it immediately upon service as some three to five minutes later, the crust would collapse.

Digging in, I found the taste of matcha lacking. Instead, the viscosity on the inside and the taste awkwardly reminded me of kaya. It was slightly too sweet for my liking though for those with a strong sweet-tooth craving, this might do the job. The preparation and technique was beautifully executed but the taste lacked depth.

Interestingly, you could press one of these buttons located at the edge of each table to call for attention from any of the available service crew. They each wear a watch which is synchronized to the alert which gives the assurance to diners that their attention are being valued.

Miam Miam offers an open-space concept so while it was fenced off from the public, expect shoppers to stare across your table especially if you are allocated a table at the ends of the restaurant. The vibe set off by the restaurant is one of casual dining but while finishing my meal, I struggled to find outstanding elements of French and Japanese cuisine in the dishes. While we find that it is a worthy place to visit, it might be some time yet before we return for their food. The queue of course would be a strong deterring factor notwithstanding the acceptable prices.
