Went to my awesome cafe yesterday, on a monday night, and the place was buzzy.
Had heard a lot about this cafe, and now I understand why.
Charming, chic, vintage, attention to details, service, food, I can name many aspects of this cafe / bar, everything was spot on, including the toilets that are usually not the best aspect of a restaurant.
We tried their cold cut platter and their duck platter, one word to describe them, awesome.
We were served by Surech, a very good man who cracked jokes, and made us try a range a brand new liquors. One that I remember is a hand-made flavored vodka by the shot, fireweed if I remember well, a delight.
All in all, a superb experience and such an instagram-friendly cafe as every corner has a meaning and is beautiful.
They have a lot of vegetarian options too.

Other than ala carte order, they do offer set lunch priced at S$24 which includes any soft drinks, any wrap, hot coffee or tea and a scoop of ice cream/sherbet.

We didn't go for the recommended and popular My Awesome Salad as we wanted something to be able to fill our hungry stomachs.

So this is what we ordered instead.

Beef Lasagna, Bread & Salad Leaves (S$17)
Wasn't really a fan of lasagna but my dining partner wanted to try this. To my pleasant surprise, this is totally different from what I have tasted elsewhere. The texture is soft & creamy with loads of ground beef and it doesn't make you feel greasy. Some may find it too moist though.

My Awesome Sandwich (S$17)
This comprises of Smoked Salmon, Herbs Chicken Breast, Duck Rillettes and Parma Ham. Choose between soft or crusty bread for your sandwich and I opted for soft bread this time round. Salmon is fresh with the perfect smoky taste. Chicken breast its surprisingly tender and the herbs spread complements it. As for the duck rillettes, it taste good but is a little salty. In my opinion, this would taste better with crusty bread instead.

The pricing might be a little on the high side but it balances off with the quality of the food they serve. Will return to try their My Awesome Salad.

I could not find it at first, as they have no logo outside, but the Chung Hua Free Clinic inscitpions on the facade instead.
They have kept the old facade and brought inside the shophouse vintage items belonging to the history of our country. Hats off for the Frenchman behind this unqiue concept.
There, you dine on what used to be our primary school tables, and if you choose one of their communal table, you eat on 100 years door! How awesome is this? As soon as I arrived, they brought a little hook for my wife ot place her handbag on the side of the table, so thoughtful.
We were greeted with a "welcome to my awesome cafe", and given a table on the spot. The place was pretty packed.
We ordere their famous awesome salad and a chicken breast sandwich.
The salad is truly awesome, a big portion of green that comes with smoked salmon, duch rillettes, chicken breast, tomota and avocado. Not to forget the slice of bread with a super yummy basil pesto dip that they spread on top, very clever, as it adds a great taste to the overall salad. Salad dressing was very, very good.
The chicken sandwich also had the basil pesto spread, a superb combination with the chicken and salad leaves. Bread was warm and crispy, one of the best we have had in Singapore.
As it was Christmas period, we were offered a wine by the bottle at happy hour price ($35) instead of 2 glasses ($12 each), as suggested by our waiter. That was sweet as we usually drink 2 glasses each, we did finish the bottle.
We finished our meal with cut watermelon with lychee sherbet, and a coconut ice cream with a shot of Patron coffee liquor. Man, the desserts were only $5 and it was so refreshing and tasty.
A very good lunch or dinner venue for any occasion, we will back, for sure.
Other Info. : They take bookings for small parties, we have decided to book our anniversary reunion next month.

My Awesome Salad (SGD$15.00) came - complete with greens, smoked salmon, herb chicken brease, duck rillettes, avocado and tomato; and a slice of bread spread with avocado paste. I added Brie Cheese for SGD$4.00.

Well, how shall I describe the salad other than "awesome"? The smoked salmon was springy and not overly salted; the herbs chicken breast were very finely sliced and tender, and the vegetables were fresh. Half an avocado was simply delightful, because I love avocadoes. The duck rillette was very tasty too- somehow it tasted like minced luncheon meat in my opinion. I love luncheon meat, so the rillette definitely won me over as well.

For drinks, I had the Chocolate with Mixed Berries and Milk Iced Protein Shake (SGD$10.00) - whoa, pricey for an non-alcoholic drink! The drink was thick and creamy, a lovely blend of chocolate and berries. There were real berries found within the delicious concoction as well.

The exterior of the cafe is very interesting with an old chinese style medical hall outlook, you may walk by without realizing it's a cafe if you don't pay attention.

When i reached the place, it was a open concept layout. Didn't pay attention if there was any aircon but fans power were still acceptable. For me who sweat easily, it was still ok. We chose to sit on the high chairs (more privacy too as we took the ones near the entrance ) as the rest of the available tables seems kind of cramped together.

We started off with some drinks first while looking through the menu. Beer for me and coke for my friend! We decided to get 2 items to share.

Brie & Ham Sandwich $15 - The bread was quite hard to cut it into half so we ended up tearing apart ( bit by bit) but i find it rather enjoyable in this way. One side was drizzled with olive oil which i like and the other side had pesto on it. Brie and ham combination can't go wrong. Yummy!

Chicken Breast & Avocado Salad $13 - This may look boring at first glance. Lots of vege and the chicken looks dry but once you mixed everything together with the dressing, it was ok.

Overall it's quite a nice charming place with decent food. I don't mind coming back again =)

I must admit that I was attracted by the cool vibe that the cafe gave off! I am sure you can see from the pictures above. Even though the name of the cafe doesn't sound like it, it is really quite a nice place to hang out with friends or family on a weekend morning/afternoon.
Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon $6.50. To be honest, we were quite surprised when this was served to us. The portion was really small but come to think of it, the price is quite a good reflection of the portion. You definitely will not be full from eating this but well, a smaller portion of this means more variety of other items right? [:

I love the texture of the scrambled eggs! But, the taste of it was quite normal. Maybe you can add a croissant or something else to go along with this? They have several other scrambled eggs selections (avocado, parma ham, ham & cheese).
Pineapple upside down (something along this line) $5. For me, this was the better dessert. I am not a fan of pineapple but somehow this managed to make me continue eating it after the first mouth. Definitely worth my calories!

Overall, I would say I was not impressed by the food and drinks that I tried. But to be fair, they have many other selections that I have not had the chance to try yet. I heard that they serve up good salads so if you are on a salad (healthy) diet, you can have a try and share with us about your experience!

The spices mixed in the beef are bought from Thailand. It’s tangy and leaving a light note of spice tickling your palate. Salad dressing is a homemade recipe from Franck’s grandma. The bread was a little firmer and less soft than I would have liked. Maybe we had spend too much on picture taking =(

Terrine of tiny shreds of tender, succulent duck melded together, with generous mesclun, salty smoked salmon and herbs chicken breast (that is dry). Loves the freshly ground basil pesto on the bread, then again, the bread was a little firmer and less soft than I would have liked. Finding it difficult to chew, perhaps we had spend too much time picture taking (again).

Ever since I saw that the cafe is opened, I really wanted to try it and here I am! Came here on a saturday afternoon and was pleased it was not crowded. And seriously, this will not be the last visit to this awesome cafe!

With the number of specialty cafe places coming up, its hard to discern who's good and who is serving a rip off your pockets for eggs. I super happy to have found my awesome cafe, because food was honest, tasty and comes at superbly reasonable prices!

I had the "my awesome salad".. man.. the quality of the food is great! The $15 salad came with greens, tomatoes, fat slices of smoked salon, thinly sliced chicken breast, duck rillettes(which i omitted) and avocados. This is THE DISH if you are looking for some healthy food with good quality protein and fats. I love it! Everything just tasted so clean yet tasty on its own lightly drizzled with olive oil with no overwhelming sauces to kill the freshness of the ingredients.

Coffee was good as well, though it lacked some kick somewhat.

My dining partner had scrambled eggs with salmon which was relatively cheap at $6,50, but the dish looked quite disappointingly 'home-made', with no greens and literally scrambled eggs which were a little too watery and bare slices of smoked salmon.

Another plus - staff are super friendly!

The Croissant with Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon ($8++) is easily one of the better tasting breakfast food out there. The croissant is filled with strips of cheese and the smoked salmon, which was smoked to the right texture and taste. The scrambled eggs, however, tasted slightly more like an omelette instead but still maintains its moist texture.

The coffee served here are blends made from Columbian, Brazilian and Sumatran beans. The Latte ($4.50++) is full bodied and maintains the strong taste of the roasting process. Anyone who does not like bitterness may not like this even as the right amount of milk is added into the coffee.

In overall, this place will surely attract the crowds with their passion and patriotism to the food and service served here. If you are around the CBD / Tanjong Pagar / Telok Ayer area, why not pop by this place? I know I would, and will try the Mexican Coca-Cola the next time round!

While usual brunch grub like Eggs Benedict is missing from the menu, there are items such as Scrambled Eggs and Croissants. I got myself a Smoked Salmon quiche that came with a garden salad and a choice of coffee which I got a Flat White ($12.00++). Savoury was the word to describe the quiche; smoked salmon just matched the cheesy layer on the top, while the Garden Salad topped with Vinegarette dressing had slightly bitter leaves.

My dining partners ordered both the Croissants with Scrambled Eggs; one with Ham & Cheese ($8.50++) and one with Smoked Salmon ($8.50++). The croissant was fluffy inside and flaky outside and somehow contained a tinge of sweetness. Creamy and runny scrambled eggs were a great side that complimented the main dish well

Flat White here is rather light-bodied, smooth and creamy. Loved the shape and the transparent glass cups that they come in which was aesthetically appealing.
