Signature Dishes
Located in the basement opposite the NTUC, is this "hole in the wall" Sheng Kee Dessert stall. I have seen this chain popping up in several major shopping centres and when a foreign visitor came to Singapore asking to try mango sago. I decided to bring him to a more comfortable place to try it, rather than your typical ah chew, where by parking is a problem!! Parking at Seletar mall is $1.20 an hour. Here is their dessert menu, most of the desserts go for around $4-$6. A bit more than what you would pay at Ah chew, but it's also served in a much bigger portion! However service took a while, after we paid right at the entrance at the cashier, it took at least 10 minutes before our desserts were served.Black glutinous rice with coconut ice cream and honey pearl $4.30Since my friend went with the typical mango sago I decided to try something else. I love black bobo and this was a slightly different version, with pearls and coconut ice cream! For $4.30 it is a huge bowl! Definitely enough for two people! The ice cream was subtly sweet, and the pearls were small and yet chewy. The coconut milk had just the perfect level of sweetness. Just the way I like it.All in all, their desserts exceeded my expectations from a chain restaurant. I enjoyed their desserts and I would definitely be back to try others. Not to mention, this chain of restauratns are easily accessible at almost every major shopping mall.
