i love the al fresco mood Kichn has created for their cafe. it is situated in a quiet area, tucked away from the bustling streets outside, and is opened only after 5.30PM, when the air is cool and windy. the minimalistic white and pale wood decorations gave the cafe a very carefree vibe, and the smallness of the cafe made the dining experience very exclusive and private.also, food eaten out of a box always seem much tastier, doesn't it?i was here once a year ago and liked it very much but never found the opportunity to revisit until now. i wasn't very impressed with the food back then, i thought it was good, but not fantastic, but this time round, i loved everything i ordered! these were out of this world! the batter was light, and the squid fresh and just nicely cooked inside and out. the seasoning also gave the calamari a slight, not too overwhelming herby, salty taste. it's perfect eaten just on its own. i had the chicken roll with ham and cheese on my first visit, but still couldn't resist it this time round. the imagery from reading "chicken roll with ham and cheese" is too delicious and thankfully, it did not disappoint. the ham and chicken was just very slightly almost uncooked, just the way i like it, and the cheese was melty and oozy. the pasta was cooked just right, and the cream sauce not too heavy, yet flavorful, unlike the 'campbell mushroom soup' kind of sauce that many restaurants serve. this combination was Lethal though, i was *so* stuffed.boyfriend had the portobello mushrooms with japanese rice and chili crab sauce. he thought it was pretty good, except that the mushrooms might be slightly over-grilled, and the japanese rice seemed to just be normal rice. i'm really picky and unadventurous with my drinks so we went for the oreo blend, which was surprisingly really good. our bill came up to only $29, which i thought was very reasonable and value for money.i remembered there used to be really bright, cheery little potted plants on each table though, which freshened up the entire cafe. they were a no-show this trip round. the ordering system has also turned entirely "self-service" with no clear indications what you should do once seated. however, the Kichn staff remains very sweet and compromising continue reading

Don't belittle this cafe eatery at Albert Court as they have a storm cooking up in their kitchen. It's a perfect place to chill and dine in the evening as it's not so hot as compared to the blazing afternoon sun. If you're in love with pasta or just want to hang out with your own special blend of drinks and some finger food, this is the place to check out!The crispy calamari is a delightful finger food for any occasion. I love the golden brown texture and the squid is very fresh. You can sink your teeth into it without having to worry about your grandma's dentures coming off. Squeeze a zest of lemon over it and it's ready to be tucked in!Call all chilli crab lovers, you can't miss this fantastic sauce on your pasta. The chilli crab sauce is so rich and delicious with egg white laced all over it. Have it on your fusilli and be "wowed" with every mouthful of it as the explosion of flavours take place on your palate. The homemade beef patty is a little oily but if it's so succulent and delicious, why bother about the calories?! continue reading

Because its near to school and is an escape if my pals are bored of 15 Minutes, we'd hop on over here to get our creative juices going in choosing things. But I kind of hate mixing weird things together; I'd like my oreo to be plainly intact and as chocolatey as possible thanks. But I'd sip from someone else who's daring enough.Anyhow, what's interesting is the do it yourself kind of mix for your drink or meal.Calamari or Drumlets would be the usual appetizer choice which is crunchy deeeelish. The best combo meal for me was probably the grilled dory fillet (healthy opt!) with fusilli, in chilli crab. Love the sauuuuuuce. Yum yum yum!Next time I'd try the chicken whatever roll with cheese if I can recall. It's got such a nice ambience as well ya'll could just chill until nighttime comes. Sadly, it doesn't open supper hours like Spice does... Tee hee continue reading

Kichn is located in the quiet area of Albert Court, a very tranquil place. Their food is really value for money! It’s tasty and comes in a unique packaging as well. Their ordering system is basically a permutation menu where you mix and match different types of sauces, mains and bases. The same goes for their drinks menu, which lets you make crazy concoctions like lychee oreo! My friend ordered grilled chicken chop which tastes great together with the spaghetti, while I ordered the safe grilled dory fish with spaghetti in tomato sauce. Great fresh fish and there’s something special about their tomato sauce.See more photos at: http://dirtystall.wordpress.com/2010/03/15/a-mundane-lunch-at-kichn/ continue reading

I have been to kichn a couple of times. The first time I came here, I had the chicken chop with spaghetti with cream based sauce. It's the attached picture.Yesterday, I decided to try something new. I had Japanese rice, with beef patty and chili crab based sauce. It was delicious! What I like about kichn is the freedom to be able to choose what sauce, what mains and what base you want Lastly, what I like about is kichn is the way they they serve their food. The food is served in paper boxes, so that if you are in a hurry, you can just eat on the go. continue reading
