This is a place which i will like to come occasionally when i need to rest my legs after shopping, chill out with friends or high tea! It's definitely a nice cosy place to go regardless you are alone or with friends or even on a date with someone. It also has a nice colonial feel with high ceiling for the whole place! On this particular day, i brought a friend here since she wanted a nice quiet place to rest and chit chat a bit. We ordered 2 pots of tea (it's TWG if i remembered correctly). Indeed my friend loves the place as well and we had a good time catching up with each other while we sip our tea and just relaxed! It even comes with a nice cute little pink macaron. Lovely! continue reading

Lobby lounge has a high tea set that you can get in the afternoons from 2-5 pm. We tried the peranakan set one Sunday afternoon. Unlike most high tea tiers this set was mostly savoury with classic nonya flavours one of my favorite dishes was the curry chicken which was very flavorful. The chicken and potato pieces were soft and tender without being overcooked. The ngoh hiang was good too crisp on the outside and soft on the inside with a good porky flavour continue reading

Came here to try their English high tea set! Overall there were hits and misses. Scones were more like bread than scones being quite doughy and not crumby like how a good scone should be. The best thing on the set was the raspberry tart which had crisp buttery pastry with pastry cream filling topped with fresh raspberries. A really well executed dessert! Another plus is that they tea set looks really pretty! continue reading

The Lounge at Intercontinental Hotel Singapore offers a soothing and relax atmosphere for high tea. The staffs are friendly, though you might need to wave your hand for long before they see you. Blame the spacious dining area I guess. They provides two different types of high tea set, each consists of 4-tiers full of yummy snacks, and you get to choose a pot of tea (or a cup of coffee)! Peranakan High Tea ($38++) starts with pie tee on the top tier. The juicy filling of radish and shrimps tastes pleasantly good especially eat together with the crispy thin 'cup'! Second tier contains the Pulut Tai Tai, which is the Nyonya steamed blue glutinous rice. I love the little spicy savoury filling. Third tier displays assorted Nyonya Kueh. I personally love the layered kueh the most. You can taste a hint of coconut flavour, yummy. Lastl tier for Peranakan set is the durian penyet. Durian fans will love this. The durian pulps/paste is processed with Gula Malacca (palm sugar), lovely sweets to end the gorgeous high tea. On the other hand, English High Tea ($38++) kick starts with breads and sandwiches. Tastes Ok but nothing too special. Second tier is assorted savoury snacks, including chicken sausage wrapped with bacon, crab cake etc. The overall flavour is good. Next is the raisin scones, served with berries jam and clotted cream. Quite authentic. The scones are toasted at the outside but good texture inside. Love this! Lastly, the English set ends with fruit tarts and eclaire. Nice sweets but I'd prefer cakes for sure. Overall speaking, I'll vote for Peranakan set over the English set continue reading

Whichever side you come from into InterContinental Hotel, you will never miss The Lounge as it is situated in the middle from all the different entrances. The seatings are so comfortable and the sofa big and spacious and you can hear piano being played at certain hours and especially during tea time. The tea time here is good as they served delicious 4 tiers food which cannot be repenished at $38++ per person even for children on weekdays. The 1st tier consists of baked chicken with seaweed,2nd tier is mushroom cheese,3rd tier is chicken satays and the last tier is nonya kuehs.Coffee and tea is refillable. continue reading
