Signature Dishes
We were elated to see a shop selling freshly made Japanese soft cheese cake. Not sure how many of you can recall in the mid 90s, the chain bakery shop called Miki Ojisan No Mise selling the cotton soft and cheesy Japanese cheese cake? The cheese cake that was well known with an imprint of the cartoon chef with closed eyes on the cake? If you were lucky enough and had a taste of this light cheese cake before, it is difficult to forget the salivating of the cake even after so many years, during the time, it was such a luscious to wolf down a few slices of the Miki Ojisan cake in a day. Unfortunately, the glory of our favorite cheese cake somehow perished from the market and Miki Ojisan No Mise has since become part of the history, a cruel fact of ailing business that not able to withstand the test of time. 3rd time passing by the store, there was always a queue with customers counting how many people are in front of them, since it is sold in batches of 6 and a waiting time of 30min or slightly more after each batch. Each cake priced at $8, quite affordable. But taste wise, its not that fantastic. I didn't try it immediately, but managed to put in fridge within 12h as per advised. I let the cake chilled overnight, and tried the next day. The cake was not of fluffy consistency. Couldn't taste any of the cream cheese taste that should be strong in cheesecakes. In all, the cake is affordable, but the taste is not worth the long wait customers are put through.
