Amongst the top 3 curry rice (In my opinion: scissors cut, Henderson and Beo). This version is definitely the spicier of the 3. Merge food is great, aunties that scoops the food are chatty during non peak hours. If you are a stickler for grade "A" cleanliness of the environment then this place is definitely not for you. But if you are "chin cai" abt this kinda thing then the food more than makes up for it.SE tips: if you are alrdy at the area do try the Hokkien mee at the coffee shop next to it. It's a hidden gem. And if you like to indulge in novelty foods, in the market opposite this store, there's a kueh store that sells Giant tutu kuehs! continue reading

The wait is dependant n the queue. The dishes to try here is definitely the stewed cabbage and pork chop!!The pork chop is very crispy it's not the meaty type, dunno how they do it..like a snack!!The cabbage is very nice... soft to the max! And when you eat it with the curry laden rice... oooooo... heavenly... Bear in mind, if there are any particular sauce you don't want you have to let them know before hand. By default they will drown your rice with spatulars of various gray they have there (i.e. braised meat, curry, etc)Another point to note.. getting a seat is quite tough..so best if you have a friend to help you find a seat while you queue continue reading

I am back here again! Instead of joining the long queue, I had breakfast instead at 10.30am!Instead of eating their signature crispy pork chop, I had their curry pork! It is very delicious, I prefer this to their crispy pork chop as I find that their pork chop too dry. Their braised cabbage is so soft, and almost melted in my mouth! I also tried their curry chicken, not really nice, as it is chicken wing, quite little meat and hard to eat. We asked for extra curry sauce on it, and they are so generous with it! So Shiok!  continue reading

Dont judge a book by it's cover. Well, for those who walk by the old school place in Beo Crescent, who will actually thought that such nameless stall sell delicious Hainanese Curry Rice? Having heard of its popularity, I wanted to try them up so much since years ago. However their business was way too good that their operations ended everytime before I could make it.I'm not a Curry Rice Eater when it comes to breakfast meal but I have no choice but to visit them on a early Sunday morning since I wanted to have a taste and verify if it was really good as I was told. There was already a long queue formed when I was there, I thought that must be real good as who will actually have curry rice in the early morning. Perhaps their taste was really exceptional! The usual style of a plate of curry png, the messy looking ingredients over the white rice with 3 kinds of sauce that drench them all over with part of them looked as if they were overflowing. The braised cabbages is also one of the must have items on such plate. Servings were generous with one big scoop of them hidden under the tau pok. They were boiled till softens and was naturally sweet. For eggs lover, their sunny side up comes with black sauce mixed altogether in the presence of the aromatic gravy. The must order item for every visit, the crispy pork! What makes them so unique? Their meat was marinated, thinly chopped into fine bits and fried under the burning fire, thus forming its cripsy texture. And together with their signature curry gravy, the taste was fantastic! Uber Yummy! What's more to say, are you drooling all over now? It's definitely worth the calories, providing a good energy boost that last through out the day. If you are thinking of Scisscors Curry Rice, why not head down to Beo Crescent for a tastebuds test!http://www.umakemehungry.com/2014/03/beo-crescent-no-name-hainanese-curry.html continue reading

Crispy crunchy pork chop and cabbage cooked to perfection with drool-worthy curry gravy slapped generously on the rice. That's the famous curry rice in my neighbourhood, had it for lunch today coz saw that there was only like 4 pax in the queue at 130pm... happiness!!It is cheap and good, $2.70 for this simple but delicious lunch ... The pork chop here is unique in the sense that there is more batter than meat. It is like eating crispy flour-battered crackers. For those who prefer more meat in their pork chop, this might not please their tastebuds though. But, i do like it especially at times when you just can't explain that particular craving for something crispy and... shiok! continue reading
