Quickly browse the web before lunch for food idea today, thinking of trying something difference as I have more or less enough of nearby 3 canteens food serve. Seeing the hot sun it puts me off by walking too far, I always miss out the nearby 2 coffeeshops whenever I am looking for work lunch. Alright, let’s try it today. This time I chose rojak and popiah as a change. This little stall is operating by an elderly man with friendly gesture. At lunch hour, this coffeeshop is quite empty though, it isn’t very far from the Tiong Bahru mrt station but crowds just won’t stretch to this location.Menu is simply ordinary rojak either standard or large sizes and popiah. Rojak and popiah look decently in size and presentation. Both ingredients are fresh to me. Rojak has pink sotong, cucumber, you tiao油條, bean sprout, pineapple, dou pok豆卜 and peanuts, the gravy is quite rich and nice, it has obviously shrimp paste, sugar and ginger flower, I didn’t add chilli sauce. Popiah tastes fine, neither too salty nor bland, I also didn’t request for chilli sauce but it has a distinct sweet sauce which enhanced the overall flavour, if it could be wrapped it up a bit tighten, it would be a good humble popiah.I will come back next time when I don’t want to have the usual food, ie mix vegetable rice, noodles, western meal. continue reading
