Bak Kut Teh

Whether one prefers the lean ribs or innards, I just love the flavor of the piping hot Bak kut teh here, full of distinctive herbal goodness. For years, my opinion has remained the same despite having tried various Bak kut teh as well. The staff are friendly which is a rarity for coffee shops.Today we travelled specially there for the BKT and we're surprised to see the place closed and signage removed. We'd just seen it last week.So we called the listed mobile number to see if it has relocated, but we're disappointed to learn that they have stopped operations. continue reading

Leong Kee (Klang) Bak Kut Teh is always bursting with customers during lunch hour. The waiting time is approximately 15 to 20 minutes. I ordered a Bak Kut Teh (all ribs) with extra tau kee (additional $1) and a bowl of rice. This Bak Kut Teh soup is very different from the white and peppery version. It is dark in color and has a strong herbal smell. It tasted a bit sweet and has a little bitterness after taste. continue reading

Came to this stall famous for its bak kuh teh but ended up having herbal chicken instead. The herbal chicken (thankfully) came with a complimentary bowl of bak kuh teh soup, so one can have the best of both worlds. The taste of the soup is unique, having been brewed with a lot of herbs (not the usual bak kuh teh). But i personally love the herbal taste so i guess it's fine. The herbal chicken is very good, sufficiently brewed with herbs, not too salty and with some soup as well. continue reading

Leong Kee (Klang) Bak Kut Teh is located along Beach Road. Whenever I walk pass the place, the place is always bursting with customers. I decided to try it for myself on a weekday lunch.I ordered the Bak Kut Teh (Ribs) with a bowl of Rice. As the place was very crowded, I waited for more than 20 minutes before my order was served. This bowl of Bak Kut Teh soup is very different from the peppery version. The Bak Kut Teh soup was thick, cloudy with a bitterish herbal taste. Personally, I prefer the peppery version with hints of garlic fragrance. Inside, there are vegetables, pork ribs and bean curd skin. The pork ribs were very tender and soft. However, I felt that the pork ribs were not meaty enough.I doubt that I am coming back any time soon. I still prefer my Bak Kut Teh soup to be the peppery type. Maybe this (Klang style) will suit your taste bud, but it certainty did not suit me. There's another Bak Kut Teh outlet located nearby, just across the road. I hope to give it a try one day.Detailed review: http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2012/05/leong-kee-klang-bak-kut-teh-beach-road.html continue reading
