Affogato was my choice of poison and it is so good! I really enjoy this cuppa of goodness. The bitterness of the coffee was just right to give the best mix of bittersweet! We had ordered fried fish and fries as our sides, and we were pretty surprise that it was a pretty big portion of truffle fries! The fried fish on the other hand was nothing to rave about. We tried two different mains, it was American Breakfast and Egg Benedict if I didnt remember wrongly. The eggs benny were ok. But if you look at what is served on my plate, i guess you will agree that those are ingredients that were straight out from NTUC. (We even saw one of the personnel walk through the cafe with bags of ingredients to make these dishes )Wholemeal sliced bread slap with a slice of ham (which was really dry) and eggs benny on top. With a obviously deep fried frozen hashbrown. Did it taste bad? Nopes. But I feel that it is no excuse for a cafe to serve soul-less food like that. This was ok as well, other than the sauteed mushrooms and the eggs, everything else was out of a can or frozen packet and served on the plate again. The bacon was also hard and wasn't crispy too.Muffet’s Room doesn’t fall into my list of recommended breakfast places. However I do note that they serve really good truffle fries and Affogato; and the portion of their meals are really big as well. If you are into quantity rather than quality, then this will be the place for you. It’s location isnt the most convenient of all places to go to if you don’t have car, as it is right smack in the CBD area. So perhaps a weekday breakfast stop for CBD-ians?READ MORE REVIEWS @ ROUNDTUMTUMS.COM continue reading

Full Muffet's Room Cafe review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2013/08/muffets-room-cafe.htmlAmbience at Muffet's Room Cafe is cozy. Actual indoor seating is extremely limited due to the small floor space, although you also have the option to sit outdoors. And despite the name, there is little to show that Muffet's Room Cafe is inspired by a children's nursery rhyme. Decor is mostly photographs (which are for sale), and chalkboards with well-written and designed words. I like that they have a small magazine and newspaper rack in the corner for browsing.I was upset by the extremely long wait for food at Muffet's Room Cafe. Even though there was only 1 other couple in the place, the food took 35 minutes to be served. And while the staff was friendly, a lack of initiative to apologise and/or expedite the food preparation results in a thumbs down for the service at Muffet's Room Cafe. Because there was only us and another customer, the only reason I can think of for the long wait is that the kitchen wasn't ready to take orders... But if so, the staff could have at least let us know in advance.Even worse was the poor quality of food served at Muffet's Room Cafe for their brunch. After the 35 minute wait, the last I expected was to be served something which I can probably prepare in less than 10 minutes on my own. Extremely disappointing, and having to pay about SGD $14 per person for this is not worth it. She swore never to return. Likewise, I'm never coming back for the brunch at Muffet's Room Cafe, but I might for their Fish And Chips. A piece of wholemeal toast, a slice of ham (pork) and poached eggs make up this Eggs Benedict. I could make this myself in less than 10 minutes, but I waited 35 minutes for this to be served here. Taste and quality is just average, portion is small, presentation is uninspired and unattractive. The least they could do is add a salad to make it more attractive, and use better quality bread... But I'm afraid it'll take even longer to be served then! Too expensive for its worth, and thankfully only available on weekends so people can't order it often. continue reading

Ever heard of ICON Village?Located in the Tanjong Pagar district, ICON Village offers an urban oasis with a touch of ''village'' ambiance for the corporate and residential population in the precinct. It's pretty much empty on the weekends, but most of the crowd you see here are working adults on weekdays. I was actually surprised to find many different choices of food hidden here!Tucked on the outside of the mall, is this cozy shop with an interesting decor that piqued my interest. It is located in the middle of 7-Eleven and Tom N Toms Coffee.Opened for 3 years already, The Muffet's Room Cafe is definitely what you would call a hidden treasure. The shop can only hold around 20 people at the most, but nothing too squeezy. Topped with the decorations and photographs (some taken by the young boss himself), I felt like I was at home!Almost everything served at The Muffet's Room Cafe are made from scratch, by the way. That's pretty damn amazing!Ice Lemon TeaYou could taste more of the tea, and it wasn't too sweet.Salsa Beef BurritoThe burrito is unique from the rest found in Singapore. It wasn't too salad-y. There's more taste to it and it reminds me of good Mexican burritos. The beef was a little spicy yet tasteful. It you want more salad, it is served beside it, with lettuce and sliced apples. The combination of meat and vegetables was perfect. This dish is good for people who want a healthier option and more taste of their burrito!Signature Beer Battered Fish & ChipsFish & Chips is one of my all-time favourite dish, so I'm pretty sure that I have eaten enough of them to vouch that this was THE BOMB! I went back another time after that just for it! First impression, I loved the smell. It took only 1 bite for me to fall in love with it! Topped my "Best Fish & Chips in Singapore" list at that second. Oiliness was just right; it does not drip so much oil unlike many of the other similar dishes that I've had before. The taste of the fish was so fresh, you could somehow taste the ocean. The sauces surprisingly complimented the fish and fries really well. You could choose from the chilli and tartar sauce, which was very different considering that other places only serve 1 sauce option for you. I loved the originality of the taste! I assure you that you can only find it here and no where else. The truffle fries were amazinggggg! Because they're handmade, you could taste how good and different it was compared to factory-made ones. The subtle sprinkle of Parmesan cheese over the fries brought the taste factor to a whole new level. In fact, they were so good that I ordered another basket of it, hahaha! To sum it all up - The Best!Brownie Ice CreamI love all things desserts, chocolates and ice cream! ;D Although I found it a little hard on the crust, the brownie was appetizing. Sweetness was acceptable, and the taste of the vanilla ice cream goes well with the brownie. For full review and more photos, please visit http://www.iisjong.com/2013/03/review-muffets-room-cafe.html continue reading
