Decided to try out their breakfast porridge with come with the you tiao. Firstly, the porridge is sufficiently cooked, which is not too watery and has a smooth texture. Inside the porridge, bits of chicken can be found with generous amount. As for the taste wise, it has a slight pepper flavour and the garnish of the fresh and sliced onion. As for the you tiao, it is not as crispy as compared to other you tiao stall but still has a slight crispy texture and go quite well with the porridge. continue reading

i decided to grab a bite from old chang kee from breakfast. they are opened pretty early and most of their food are ready for sale. i got myself their Yam Cake. it was pretty large in size and only cost $1.10. the yam cake outside was deep fried so it was very chewy, but the inside is very soft and tasty. despite being deep fried, it was not oily at all, i think they did a good job in removing the oil off the yam cake. continue reading

I went to old chang kee looking for my usual sotong wing, but I was surprised they were not selling that anymore. Instead, they replace it with this $2 portion. It was placed in a French fries container. The portion was indeed a lot more than the normal stick version despite just being 40 cents more expensive. It was not too oily as well. the sotong was not overcooked and it was just right chewy. the auntie also offered to help me seasoned with chilli powder. I think the chilli powder gave it a nicer hotter taste. I like the new introduction of the sotong wing. continue reading

Brought a bowl of the porridge for breakfast at old chang kee. This bowl of porridge is paired with the nicely deep fried you tiao. Inside the bowl of porridge contains a few drop of seasoning, pepper, chopped onion and serveral pieces of minced chicken. The porridge is sufficiently cooked, has a smooth texture. The ingredients used is also quite fresh and the you tiao goes very well with the porridge. Overall, quite a light and tasty porridge for breakfast. Other than porridge, they also sell bee hoon and nasi lemak as other breakfast alternative. continue reading

I was on my way home from the library, when I decided to stop by Old Chang Kee for a quick snack. I ordered 3 pieces of my favorite Sardine Puff. I paid for them headed home! Once I was home I quickly made myself a quick cup of coffee and a cup of Milo for my son and we both sat to enjoy to Sardine Puffs. They were yummy, crispy and very delicious. The Sardine filling has a nice sweet and spicy flavor that enhances the taste of the puff. The best part was it was nice and hot and tasted heavenly! continue reading
