Introduction
The Ricetable is the only restaurant in Singapore serving an authentic Dutch Rijsttafel. Coined by the Dutch the term "Rijsttafel" literally means ricetable and refers to a table (tafel) filled with a variety of meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, sambals and sauces all to be taken with a helping of rice (rijst). Sample the milder dishes first and work your way up to the more fiery ones.

Signature Dishes
At Rice Table, I bet you will surely be outnumbered by the dishes surround you. At a reasonable price of $17.90, you will be served a total of 14 dishes. Thereafter, after you have finished any of the dishes and if you wish to have more, you may order again at no additional cost.To prevent the food from getting cold, the dishes were being placed on a 'rechaud', or food warmer.Among the many dishes, these are the few dishes that I love most:Curried TofuThe curry gravy is similar to the sayur lodeh gravy, nice!Curry ChickenThe curry chicken was not very spicy, and it has nice fragrance from the curry spices and coconut milk.Grilled ChickenThe chicken was grilled in dark sweet sauce, a sweet and savory dish.Chicken SatayThe Indonesian style satay is slightly different from the satay here. I think it is because sweet sauce was use instead of the salty type. The chicken chunks were bigger too.

All your can eat at The RiceTable for dinner at S$28.50 nett per person excluding drinks. We were served with 19 dishes in small servings including chicken, beef, seafood and vegetables. You can opt for as many repeated dishes are you wished including the plain rice. These dishes are served on food warmer except for salads.Despite the food warmer, the overall dishes were still cold.I was disappointed with the RiceTable Tahu Telor (Egg with Soft Tofu) . There were no crispy egg omelette. Dry and cold. This dish looks like a bird nest from far.The Indonesian fruit salad was refreshing. We had in total three plates of Assam Sotong and Chicken Satay and two plates of Prawn in Sambal Sauce. The sweet and sour fish was so soft that it automatically melt in our mouth.

It was a colleague's farewell and we selected The Rice Table for an affordable buffet lunch. It's only $17.90 nett. We tried almost everything on selection and they were all good. I will recommend the following. They were my preferred ones from the lunch.1) Beef RendangThe beef is so tender and soft that it melts in your mouth. The rendang was super tasty and not overly spicy. 2) Tauhu TelorThis one was almost everyone's favourite. It's just so magical. A simple dish of tofu and egg combined. But the taste is so good that we kept ordering more. 3) Fried Sweet and Sour FishThis fish is fried and crispy on the outside. Soft and tender on the inside. The sweet and sour sauce was super yummy and appetizing. Give this place a try if you are in the area!
