The "Peanut Soup" stall in Maxwell Market specializes in peanut soup and red bean soup with tang yuan in it. The peanut soup is fantastic, slightly sweet, with pieces of peanut inside. You can also have the red bean soup which is slightly less sweet, with some peanuts inside as well. There is an option to add tang yuans into your soup, and they come in either peanut or sesame flavored filling! While the tang yuan's are the frozen type, this stall times the cooking of the tang yuan perfectly, such that the texture of the tang yuan served is perfect- nice and chewy! continue reading

Peanuts soup is one of the items in the "MUST EAT" list and just nice that I chanced upon the stall "75 Peanut Soup" when I was in Maxwell Food Centre. Occupying the unit 57, they have an interesting stall name "75 Peanut Soup" followed by a "57" wording behind the shop name which make it reads as "7 Peanut Soup 57", sounds rhyme. The stall is only specialized in 3 kinds of soup, Tau Suan (Split Beans), Red Beans and Peanut Soup. Fried fritters are available for Tau Suan and if you opt to add in rice balls for the peanut soup, it will be included as well.I had my peanut soup finally and was happy about it as this is not easily available in most Singapore Hawkers. The milky color soup when scooped consists of peanuts boiled to a soften texture, together in the light tasty soup with peanut fragrance it brings back those memories of my childhood days.Cost: S$1.00 (For Dine In, take away additional S$0.20 for the plastic container) continue reading

I was out of a job interview. I was feeling nervous while answering the questions the interviewee gave and less energetic after the interview. I decided to find some hot dessert to cool me down. I happened to come across this stall which sells peanut soup. Well, I decided to have a bowl of it. The peanut soup is as white as homemade soy bean milk with large white peanut splits in it. The soup is hot, sweet and not thick. It has the distinctive nutty taste of peanuts. The peanuts are soft and mushy. There are also small cuts of you tiao in the soup. The cold chewy cuts of you tiao become warm, softer and easier to be bitten when drenched in the soup. The soup tastes better with some tang yuan. The skin is soft and chewy and the filling is sweet and gritty for every tang yuan. The tang yuan goes well with the peanut soup. The whole bowl of peanut soup is very tasty. The stall sells tau suan and red bean brown rice soup, something that few dessert stalls sell, too. I hope to come there for hot desserts next time when I am free. continue reading

the peanut soup here is suppose to be of the famous stores, with several awards and media recognition. so i decided to give it a shot today and order a bowl. One bowl like this is really cheap, and cost only 90 cents. It comes with a few pieces of you tiao too. the peanut soup tasted light. the sweetness was a little on the sweet side. there are only a few pieces of peanut in the soup. but you can still taste the peanut flavour in the soup. continue reading
