There's quite a lot of restaurants inside The Universal Studio Singapore and it all does look like they sell very nice food inside. We pick the one that is nearest to us when we heard our stomach complaining about hunger after our rounds of fun. The Discovery Food Centre offers mainly local cuisine and it was filled with tourists (guess they are very interested in our local food). I had the chicken leg rice which comes with a side and drink. I thought that the food will be a soso since it doesn't really look appetizing but I was wrong. The chicken leg is moist and cook to perfection. It was well marinated with the spices which goes very well with the rice. My friends had the chicken rice set and it was good as well. continue reading

Tried this set for dinner. The set comes with dumpling noodles, sambal fishball and green bean soup. I like the sambal fishball, spicy but nice. Dumpling noodles also not bad...the filling is full. A bit disappointed with the green bean soup.... we went in the evening ard 6pm, not sure if green bean soup are running out, but the soup I get has so much more soup than beans....very watery and beans are so miserable...that's a disappointment. continue reading

After playing around, we decided to grab some food. After looking around, I decided to ordered Dry Wanton Noodle Combo Set, it consist of 3pcs of curry fish ball and agar melaka. First time trying, it was not bad. The noodles was springy and chewy. The gravy was just nice, not too salty nor bland. The boiled wanton was huge and they was very generous with the ingredients. The curry fish ball was Q and fresh, its not too spicy. As for the agar melaka, I found it normal. It doesn't have any char siew in it because its halal. Overall, the wanton noodle was quite good. continue reading

We decided to settle lunch at the Discovery Food Centre during a recent visit to USS. As a tourist attraction, we kind of expected prices to be high, but it's really really exorbitant to eat here. I had a $10.50 chicken rice set. This food court served other food like noodles and malay food but they were more or less priced at $10.50 set meals too. To be fair, the hainanese chicken rice set was decent. The chicken was smooth, the rice fragrant and it was served with bean sprouts and achar. There was also a dessert, some chilled soya bean pudding which wasn't really good. My only main gripe is being able to eat better quality chicken rice on mainland at a third of the price. But then again, we are in USS I guess and cheap food is scarce on this theme park. continue reading

Had lunch at Discovery Food Centre while I was working in Universal Studios for part time. Absolutely loved their chicken rice! Their roast chicken is so good. Nicely roasted to give it a little crisp in the skin, yet tender and soft for the meat. Very appetizing indeed. Their rice is very fragrant too! I finished the entire plate! continue reading
