Restaurant here is spacious and quickly cooling, with friendly service provided by their waitress as well. Have tried their few range if dim sum with my sister which includes the prawn dumplings, spicy chicken feets ans siew mai. Siew mai is filled with generous amount of juicy minced pork meat, which are tasty and not too salty. The spicy chicken feets are very tasty and flavourful and the xhicken feets are very soft and easy to chew. Prawn dumplings are filled with lots of fresh crunchy prawns in it and the dumpling skin is thin and soft. Great place to have yumny dum sum with your love ones continue reading

It seems like this Restaurant is more well-known for its dim-sum, but the time I went to, it was already at night. Hence, we could only get the dinner menu which didn't include any dim-sum. The crowd at night was really thin, other than my table, only 3-4 of the available tables were occupied. With the air-con blasting at high speed and the random mix of English and Chinese songs playing overhead, one really wonders how they survive for so long. I must say though, the ambience was there. Quiet and gentle, i could really cut the silence with a knife. They also have a strict dress-code which can be flaunted easily as my company and I were all wearing flip-flops which wasn't allowed. I guess they didn't really care anymore with the few patrons they have. We ordered Braised Asparagus with Bamboo Piths - $21.00 There wasn't anything special about this and the sauce wasn't that nice either. Normal for a simple dish, although the price was a little steep for vegetables. This was a medium sized portion. But I guess we paid for the service and environment we dined in. The asparagus was quite juicy though, which was really nice. We also ordered the Braised Cod Fish with Dried Bean-curd - $18.00I think this dish was more worth it as Cod fish is one of the most expensive fish in the market and they were not very stingy in serving Cod fish that was quite a large thick chuck. The dried bean curd was mediocre though, only enhanced by the sauce which was not too bad. The broccoli was a little tasteless, luckily it's not the star of the dish. Overall, if I had a choice, I don't think I will frequent this place often. Although parking is not a problem as there is free parking, the food there is purely mediocre and the only saving point is that it is quite high-class so the staff are pretty attentive. continue reading

When I first saw the side dish on the table at Mayim Chinese Cuisine, I literally thought it was kimchi. It left me pretty confused cos I thought it was a chinese restaurant and they served kimchi as their side. However when I took a piece to try, I realized it was not kimchi. It was another form of pickled chinese cabbage. The cabbage tasted sour but the sauce they marinate it with was salty. the portion was quite long for a side dish so we did not order any vegetables side. We tried their chilli oil wanton thinking it would taste the same as those of din tai fung and crystal jade. However to our surprise, the sauce for the wanton is black sweet sauce. It was so unique. The wanton is large and juicy and very meaty. It actually went well with the sweet sauce. continue reading

The dim sum at Yan Palace just keeps making you go back for it. This time round I went with my best friend, there were only two of us so the variety we ordered was not as many as the other visit. I must say their deep fried golden mushroom is really unique. I remembered the last I had this dish was in Taiwan one of the night market, never found such a dish in Singapore. Their glutinous lotus rice is really good. I like the texture of the rice, very soft and chewy. the carrot cake is really good too, very chewy and fragrant. continue reading

nice dim sum breakfast with family in the early sunday morning. The dimsum is quite nice and we like to eat here. Ordered a full table of food and we started to eat! The nice one included the rice chicken dumpling, the egg century porridge and prawn dumplings. The porridge is my favourite because it's warm and best eat when i just woke up. It makes me appetizing to eat other food continue reading
