Sitting pretty on the 2nd level of an old monorail station along Palawan beach, Braise plays neighbour to Amara Sanctuary's Silk Road of the Sea, which is located on the ground floor. The interior of Braise is nothing short of breathtaking, offering a splendid view of the surrounding Palawan beach through floor to ceilings windows throughout the entire place - very reminiscent of a green house actually. Temperatures are kept to a comfortable low through the use of powerful airconditioning. Essentially the place offers the best of both worlds - bright and cheery with a view in the comfort of an airconditioned environment.Complimentary Bread - The complimentary bread was served warm and had bits of herbs in it, coming across as crusty on the outside while soft on the outside. Overall a mildly flavourful piece of dough that saw me asking for seconds.Pressed Duck and Potato Terrine with Mix Greens and Balsamic Onion - Wrapped up with a flimsy layer of lettuce, the duck had a lightly salted smokey aftertaste that went well with the smoothness of the potato. Subtly pleasing to the tastebuds but not exactly my idea of a fantastic appetiser though as it failed to open up my appetite.Pan Seared Foie Gras, Lentils Fricassee and Red Wine Sauce - I would gladly sacrifice my health for another piece of this foie gras. Though smallish, the foie gras was pan seared till the exterior was a tad crisp yet remaining soft and quivery on the inside. Equally outstanding was the lentil stew with red wine sauce which lent its savouries to the foie gras and created one of the best foie gras dishes I've had this year.Turkey Breast, Braised Vegetables, Honey Spiced Sauce - Turkey, especially the breast portion, tends to be associated with toughness. However Braise's rendition was, on the contrary, surprisingly tender without losing its fibrous texture. A pity the sauce was a little lacklustre, coming across merely as a little sweet from the honey.Venison with Braised Vegetables, Cassis Sauce - Believe it or not, this is the first time I'm having venison in a non Chinese restaurant and I am suitably impressed with what Braise presented. Well seasoned and grilled till the meat retained but a nice pinkish hue, it tasted rather similar to a well done piece of steak, albeit more tender. Buttery overtones carrying a pepperish tinge complemented the sweetness of the meat and left me lamenting about the portion size. The only gripe I had about this dish was the sauce, which tasted like cough syrup to me.Tout Chocolate Combination - Comprising a scoop of chocolate ice cream topped with chocolate balls, a slice of chocolate cake and chocolate mousse on a biscuit base, this dessert didn't exactly involve much aesthetics and looked rather haphazard if you ask me. However, I must say that I enjoyed it quite a bit. The chocolate ice cream was smooth and more bitter then sweet (great for those who don't like too sweet stuff) with the chocolate balls giving it an extra crunch. The sponge layers on the cake were moist and compact while the chocolate layers gelled everything together for a nice and simple chocolate cake. As for the mousse, it had a nice bitter hazelnut taste on a crunchy biscuit base.Vanilla Creme Brulee, Figs, Passion Fruit Sorbet - I thought that the creme brulee was quite decent save for the fact that the sugar layer was overly thick. Made from real vanilla beans, as evident by the black vanilla seeds in the pudding, this dessert didn't overwhelm with its sweetness and had a smooth and almost creamy texture. The passion fruit sorbet provided the sourish contrast to the pudding's sweetness, allowing for a more varied taste sensation. continue reading

This restaurant is located at Palawan Beach on top of Silk Road Restaurant. We had a window seat with partial view of the beach.The place is bright and lots of natural light coming through the place. This restaurant has only 1 main course for Restaurant Week lunch. It is Slow-Cooked Chicken Breast. As my mum could not eat chicken, she asked for a change and they were very kind to oblige. They changed the main course to cod fish for her.The basket of bread came with bread roll & bread crisp which was yummy and has little black sesame seed.The salad was avocado with olive and parmesan shaving. Salad was fresh and a generous portion.The main course of chicken came artistically arranged with different colour of vegetable and lotus crisp. The chicken came in a decent portion and the light sauce brings out the flavour of the chicken. The vegetable was cooked just right, not too hard or soft.Even my mum's cod fish was beautifully arranged surrounded with potatoes, carrots and other colour vegetables. It comes with more gravy.After the main course, they serve us Turkish Delight Chocolate and Coffee/Tea which is included in the meal.Their signature dessert Chempedak Crème Brulee was served. It has a nice egg custard with burnt sugar. If you do not mind the Chempedak smell, you will enjoy this dessert.As this was my Dad's Birthday Celebration, we brought a Birthday Cake and Longevity Bun to be served after dessert. They were kind enough to bring new dessert plate and fork for the Birthday cake.I like that they serve plain water without charging unlike other place where they make you buy expensive Mineral Water. Service was good as they clean away the crumbs before they serve you dessert and was happy to bring new plates for our Birthday cake. continue reading

We recently had a company staycation and had our dinner at Braise.Love the ambience of the place. It was quite cooling as it was pretty near to the beach. We could even see the peacock at the rooftop. It was a buffet style dinner but i really love the BBQ prawns for the main dishes but if you ask me, the star of the show has to be the cempedak creme brulee. Everyone loves it (well, at least everyone who has got sweet tooth) It was nothing like all the creme brulee i have tasted before! The other thing i have to commend on would be the impeccable service continue reading

Orgasmic food and exemplary service are always huge motivators for one wanting to come back to a restaurant for more; case in point Braise @ Palawan Beach Sentosa, SingaporeBraise is located on the small island of Sentosa (the most Southern tip of Singapore) over looking Palawan beach. The restaurant itself is set up in the old Palawan Beach train station. Getting there can be a bit of a hassle but once you’re there you quickly forget the trip in. A point of note however; the restaurant does have a dress code; sorry guys no flip-flops or singlet's allowed in this place!Pushing away the big ass door you enter the restaurant main; the staff warmly greet you with a very enthusiastic smile and you’re promptly whisked away and seated at your table. The set Sunday brunch changed slightly from the last time I was there; but in no way shape or form was it for the worst.Having some of my good friends along to share the dining experience only helped make the food taste even better and the clock tick ever so slowly… Enter stage left.. our Entree list.. from left to right, top to bottomMushroom Soup: Nice thick and aromatic, served in a little cup for you to drink out of. If you love your mushroom soup this is really tastyCaesar Salad: Usually a Caesar Salad brings life to a dull meal; in this case this was one of the few items that took the longest to finish; not because it didn’t taste bad, just that there was way too many other dishes for us to sink our greedy little mouths into!Seared Scallop with Wakame Pasta: This dish was simply orgasmic! The combination of the scallop and the sea weed with the pasta just left me speechless and wanting to go in for a 3rd and 4th helping. Sadly everyone else had the same idea, and I had to settle for two helpings Deep Fried Oyster with Garlic Aioli: With or without the sauce this was delicious. The exterior was crisp, while the whole little parcel of goodness oozed flavor on every bite.Tomato & Mozzarella Cheese Tart with Parma Ham: I’m an absolute sucker for Parma Ham, it’s salty character and chewy texture coupled with the tart had me wanting to eat more!Baby Octopus with Passion Fruit and Peanut Dressing: Octopus and Passion Fruit; weird combination you may say, not with this dish. The octopus was cooked just rite and the passion fruit helped give it a little ‘zest’ and a crunchy taste with every bitePan Fried Shrimp & Crab Cake with Peanut Sauce: Too small, too small! These little beauties were too small for my liking, just when I was beginning to let the flavors swim in my mouth the portion was gone, I’m going to have to come back when no one else is around. Sorry, I had to dedicated one single picture to the Foie Gras. I know it’s cruel how they make it. I know I should not be enjoying it; but with the delicate cut of the knife to pierce the crisp outside and letting each savory morsel melt in my mouth I felt as if I were going to commit a sin by not enjoying it. To say I am a fan of foie gras is an understatement. I really cannot find the superlatives to state how wonderful and tasty this interpretation of how to cook and serve foie gras other than “please sir can I have some more?”Verdict: Perfect place, fantastic service, delicious well prepared food and good company made for yet another wonderful day out at Braise. Oh and by the way the service staff were so nice to set aside separate servings of all the above dishes for one of my friends who turned up late! continue reading

This new restaurant located in Sentosa is really worth giving it a try... Nice ambience...What I really loved most:1. Hamachi Tatare (Ikura Egg Salad wrapped with pickled japanese cucumber surrounded with orange miso dressing)2. Seafood Pot Au Feu (Poached Seafood, Asparagus, Porcini)3.
