Full Fatboy's The Burger Bar review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2014/05/fatboys-burger-bar.htmlFatboy's The Burger Bar is among the first burger concept restaurants in Singapore, having first opened its doors in 2009. Known for their wide variety of ingredients and creative burger toppings, Fatboy's The Burger Bar is especially loved for their 'Create-Your-Own-Burger' concept. Sadly, most of their modern day competitors seem to have caught up, and even surpassed them, in terms of overall taste and quality of burgers.Ambience at Fatboy's The Burger Bar is styled after the typical American diner, with white and black checkerboard patterns and garish, loud red for contrast. Walls are adorned with whimical artwork. Furniture is well laid out in a grid pattern, mostly featuring benches or bar stools. I dislike the dim interior lighting though, as well as the relatively open concept of the place, as high ambient temperatures make it rather warm at times.Service at Fatboy's The Burger Bar is decent. Staff are young part-timers mostly, and while they are friendly and knowledgable on the menu, able to make recommendations or recite special offers, their service isn't that memorable or special. Functional service at best, could be a lot better.Food at Fatboy's The Burger Bar focuses on American diner style food such as deep fried items, sandwiches, with the star item being burgers. With 3 types of burger buns, 5 types of meat patties, 20 types of toppings, and 10 types of sauces, there is nearly an endless combination of burgers you can create at Fatboy's The Burger Bar.Alternatively, choose from one of the ready-made recipes on the menu. Prices at Fatboy's The Burger Bar are lower than most of their competitors, and very affordable. However, overall taste and quality is only slightly above average at best. Can you get tastier burgers elsewhere? Yes. Ultimately, I would probably only visit if I was nearby, and I certainly won't go out of my way just to dine here.I loved the Swiss Shroom (SGD $13.80), featuring a juicy, tender, beef chuck patty, which isn't too tightly packed or dense. The sauteed shiitake mushrooms add a yummy burst of flavour, and the garlic aioli on a whole meal bun enhance the overall taste. The melted swiss cheese isn't really melted though, as this firm cheese just kind of blankets the burger rather than enveloping it.A house special, the home made Beer Battered Onion Rings (SGD $7.50) are excellent! Thickly sliced, fresh onions are battered in a savoury beer and herb batter, deep fried till crisp, then served with a homemade BBQ / barbecue sauce that is tangy and slightly sweet. Highly recommended! continue reading

Fatboy's The Burger Bar ('Fatboy') is a home grown burger chain, founded with the promise of bringing burger evolution to Singapore burger lovers. In the recent years, Singaporeans palate for burgers has evolve due to the exposure of many top notch artisan burgers. We are no longer satisfied with ordinary fast food chains burgers, we expect, NO! we DEMAND better quality burgers. Filling the gap between upmarket artisan burgers and fast food burgers is Fatboy. Fatboy offered reasonable priced burgers; different type of patties such as chicken, lamb and beef; and best of all freedom to build your own burger. In short, the menu in Fatboy is similar to typical American Diners, of course with a slight 'naughty' local twist included. As I was not that hungry that night, I ordered Wimpy Beef ($11.50). This is actually a single patty version of their best creation Fat Basterd. The chuck patties are topped with bacon, cheddar cheese, a fried egg and homemade BBQ sauce. The patty is thick and juicy. The bacon and fried egg gave a different texture to the burger and the BBQ sauce just provide a nice finish. The burger has the nice thickness to hold with both hands and bit it. Delicious!!Each burger are served with thick fries, and only a single slice of tomato and lettuce leaf. The fries crispy and moist inside, however the portion is quite small and tasted quite ordinary. The tomato and lettuce is merely there for decoration, I hope they can actually give more salad for a more balance presentation instead of looking quite stingy on the plate. Meanwhile, Little Devil had Swiss Shroom ($13). Fatboy use sauteed shitake mushrooms instead the normal portabello, melted Swiss cheese, with garlic aioli to accompany healthier whole meal bun. The patty is thick and juicy, the shitake mushrooms gave a stronger mushroom flavour and the garlic aioli just bind the whole ingredients together. For the heat, LD add jalapeno to the burger and pickles to balance the richness in the burger. Yummyyy !! To add some healthy veggies to complement our burger, we decided to order Chicken Caeser Salad ($11.50). The Romaine Lettuce is just fresh and crisp. The chicken fillet is flavourful, juicy and succulent. The Caesar dressing is lighter than the usual, however it just provide a light and refreshing salad. One item in a drink that get our approval is Lemon Lime and Bitter. Although it came in the bottled Bundaberg from the Australian manufacturer, we are just glad we had something refreshing to enjoy with our burger. The atmosphere in Fatboy is very casual. They have TVs that is showing the EPL games, so it is a good destination when the games are on during the weekend. Service is very minimum and inconsistent between the each service staff. It seems that they are more a part timer, which lack the proper service training. Luckily Fatboy does not charge customer for service. Overall, Fatboy deliver a good, solid and flavourful burgers. Based on the food that we have tasted so far, the rest of the items on the menu should be quite good. If you can ignore the inconsistent of their service level, Fatboy is the place to go for good-priced American Diner food. Was driving around Joo Chiat area looking for a place to eat and saw that there’s a empty lot infront of Fat Boys (usually no lot) parked and went in. We ordered Bolly Wolly – Thick succulent lamb patty coated with their homemade curry remoulade topped with tangy mango chutney, fresh and crunchy lettuce and tomato. Love the light honey oat buns. Totally awesome.Royale with Cheese – Juciy beef patty covered with aromatic onion marmalde and glazed with appertizing BBQ sauce; and the cheese increase the intensity of the burger. Their fried is thick, crispy and lightly flavoured.I’m so coming back again. continue reading

http://static2.sg.orstatic.com/UserPhoto/photopending/0/F2/002Z6980D5517D072A8801c.jpgFirst visit to Fat boys for dinner. What's unique about this place is that you can get to customize your own burger. With the choice of the bun and the patty. The beef patty was mediocre as I prefer my patty to be more juicy and the patty there was kinda dry. I find the bun to be a little too hard. The sides were fine. The meal was definitely filling and not too pricy. I recommend it to people who wants to hang out, a good place to chill. The service is great, nothing to complaint. Definitely not the best burger, but definitely for someone who wants something new. continue reading
