View review at http://www.umakemehungry.com/2015/04/seng-huat-homemade-fried-carrot-cake.htmlIt's not common to find carrot cake that was made from the scratch nowadays and we happened to chance upon another stall. Seng huat Homemade Fried Carrot Cake is humbly located in Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre.Unlike the factory made carrot cakes which are evenly cut into similar shapes and sizes, Seng Huat's was fried into irregular shapes and sizes with eggs. It comes with 2 version, the dark and white version and being just me, I will usually order the darker version. There were hints of "Chai Po" (preserved vegetables) and the whole plate was fragrant. What's good is that it was not too oily and price is definitely worth what we are paying for! continue reading

Seng Huat Homemade Fried Carrot Cake located at the Yuhua Village Market & Food Centre. There is no queue around 10am in the morning. They are selling both White and Black Fried Carrot Cake. Price range between S$2.00 - S$3.00. I have ordered the Black one with egg.The plate came with the Fried carrot cake served on it in a mess. When you take a mouthful of the carrot cake, you cake bite the soft carrot cake, crunchy chai po and garlic. The fried carrot cake got a hint of "wok hei". Not too sweet and there is a lot of eggs in it. continue reading

I have tried the white carrot cake from this stall before and it was quite alright, so I decided to try the black carrot cake since the waiting time is shorter over at this stall. True enough, within 5 minutes, I got my black carrot cake for takeaway. The portion is rather small, but that is because it is $2. There are quite a few specks of egg here and there, but largely, I felt that the eggs could have been more to have more flavour/taste. The sweet sauce used to fry the carrot cake was alright, resulting in carrot cake with the right amount of sweetness. I forgot to ask them to add chilli which I think will definitely help in boosting the overall taste. continue reading
