There was another popular Lor mee stall at Clementi Central. This Lor Mee stall was located in the Clementi Food Centre, which was within walking distance from another Lor Mee Stall (Sheng Yi Fa ) in a Kopitiam. This Lor Mee has the usual ingredients, braised egg, ngnor hiam, braised pork and fish cake. The gravy of the Lor Mee was slightly less braised meat taste and less thick as compared to Sheng Yi Fa. They were quite generous with the fried ngnor hiam. It was still slightly cripsy when soaked in the gravy. It taste good and meaty.Overall, the taste was average and I would prefer they put more of the braised pork. continue reading

Food2nd Day in a row with Lor Mee as my breakfast. I was doubtful that someone told me Clementi Lor Mee is famous and with long queues usually.I decided to give it a try, queues were not as long as expected, probably because of the heavy rain. I bought a bowl of S$2.50 (Small), Lor Mee .Come with the usual thick sticky gravy with chilli, vinegar and garlic. The usual flat yellow noodle was used, with fried meat balls and a quarter of braised hard boil egg. The hot and spicy lor mee was served in red bowl.ServiceThe lady who was taking the order was friendly. The man, assumingly her husband is the one who prepare the food - Lor Mee, Prawn noodle and laksa. AmbienceIt was a wet morning and tables near to the open air was wet. The emptied bowls of lor mee were left lying on most tables. Cleaners' speed was slowed down somehow.PriceS$2.50 for a small portion was rather filling. continue reading

Initially I was attracted by the yong tau foo stall beside it that has a long queue and looks quite nice, but I gave up due to the long queue and went to this stall beside instead. The price was also reasonable and one of the lower one around. A bowl of small soup prawn noodles is $2.50.After placing my order, the prawn noodles is prepared in less than 2 minutes and my overall wait form queuing is less than 3 minutes. The service is alright too.The $2.50 bowl looks a little small though, but it actually fills me just rightly. The soup was quite richly flavoured and it is not too salty and it is not too bland. The spices flavor is not too overly strong and the base is considerably acceptable and quite nice.I like the texture and softness of the noodles. It has the taste of the soup base and it is chewy and not overly cooked, which still retains the bouncy texture of the yellow noodles. The amount of ingredients is ok and the pork slice and fish cake is chewy and tastes fresh. Two small prawns are given and they are quite fresh.Overall the bowl of prawn noodles is quite tasty and I would give it probably a 6.5/10, considering the taste and the price ;D continue reading

I saw quite a few people ordering this stall's lor mee, and so decided to give it a try. Nothing very special though, in my opinion. The noodles come with pieces of ngoh hiang and meat. The gravy was thick and quite nice, but not as good as I had expected. I ordered take-out, and the noodles were still not too soggy by the time I got home. It costs only $2.50 and it quite worth it for the price. However, I will probably not travel all the way to clementi for this bowl of noodles. continue reading
