There was this very long queue Chee Cheong Fun stall at Alexandra Food Centre in the morning. This Chee Cheong Fun stall ownself freshly made your chee cheong fun when ordered. So you would need to wait quite some time for your order. This chee cheong fun sold here was cantonese type whereby the skin was thin, almost transparent and springy. The sauce given was their special made soya sauce, sometime you would see in Dim Sum restaurant.I had ordered prawns chee cheong fun. The prawns were very fresh, cruchy when you bite. Their special sauce was slightly sweet and savoury. It was quite nice that you would scoop the chee cheong fun with lots of their sauce and eat.Overall, I would recommend this stall for your regular Dim Sum restaurant quality dishes at friendly to pocket prices. continue reading

The chee cheong fun here is homemade and it has different fillings inside. It is my first time seeing a hawker centre chee cheong fun that has the option of adding fillings and I was curious enough to order a plate from them. I ordered the mixed plate which has 3 rolls of chee cheong fun, each with different fillings. The fillings are prawn, char siew and vegetables. Of the three, I like the chee cheong fun with prawns best as the prawns are rather crunchy. I wasn't used to the taste of chee cheong fun with vegetables, so that did not work for me. The one with char siew is just average because the char siew is not too nice and I found the char siew to be too fatty for my liking. The sauce on the plate was quite nice and goes well with the smooth chee cheong fun. continue reading

FoodHome made chee cheong fun and porridge is what the stall sells. I have ordered a special kind of chee cheong fun , $3 for 3 pieces. It comes with Cha Siew, prawns and Mei Cai which is a different taste. Claimed that they self made on the spot, I find that the skin of the chee cheong fun are smooth and translucent, we can easily see the fillings inside. Topped with seasame seeds and soy sauce together with the mei cai, it makes the taste seems abit extraordinary.Char siew were minced and not the usual chunks we get in Tim Sum Restaurant. We are advise to keep and collect receipts and come back again by the lady.ServiceService is good. Auntie is polite. For those who collect 5 receipts or have spend more than $10 in a receipt will get a free pancake from them.AmbienceThe stretch of shops were not opened, so it was rather quiet while I was enjoying my different taste of Chee Cheong Fun. Ventilation was good, it was quite airy. The shop has a TV that plays a video clip on the process of their CHee Cheong Fun Making and reviews from their dear customers. PricePrice is definitely ok.Recommendations / TipsIf you like Chee Cheong Fun, this is a must try. continue reading

I was very surprised that this chee cheong fun and chwee kway stall actually sells pancakes! If not because I happened to be sitting there and seeing someone else ordering the pancake, I would not have guessed. The stall owner and helper were very aggressive in asking me and recommending me their chee cheong funs. Even after I said I wanted only the durian pancake, they told me to get more since I was not alone. A little too pushy for my liking, but at least they did not press on after I insisted one pancake was enough. The durian pancake costs $1.50. Cheaper than four seasons’ durian pancake, but I will be glad to foot 30cents more since this pancake is too sweet for me. Moreover, the durian filling is quite little and I did not like the batter used to make the pancake as well… the pancake was too hollow/light and biscuit. Luckily I only got one. Perhaps since they are famous for their chee cheong funs, I should try that next time. continue reading

Teng Yu stall offers four different types of cheong fun, prawn, turnip, char siew and one more. All of them come with the option of having your cheong fun with porridge. And they have quite a few selections if you just want porridge alone, century egg, sliced fish, fish head, and seafood porridge. The skin of the char siew cheong fun was smooth and easy on the palate, topped with plenty of sesame seeds, it came with light sauce. However, the char siew meat were all in very small bits and pieces, and I would prefer them to come in bigger pieces even if there were less of them in that way. The char siew bites were rather soft, in fact too soft for my liking, and it did not have the sweet and juicy taste that’s in good char siew. Furthermore, they added in some vegetables in it which i did not like. Don’t get me wrong, I love to eat greens, but cheong fun with greens simply did not work out. The overall taste is quite weak, as in not much flavour in the chee cheong fun, maybe its lighter in flavour because it’s suppose to go together with the porridge, or maybe it’s just me. continue reading
