I was at Alexandra Village Hawker Centre one morning and was looking for breakfast. Most of the stalls were closed, it being 10am.I chanced upon this stall and it had won an award for minced pork noodles. There was also a magazine article on the stall, titled ‘Not your usual Noodles’. I decided to give it a try. There was a small pot of stewed sliced mushrooms percolating over a charcoal fire, where the assistant takes your order.I ordered Mee Pok dry, $3 portion. It came with fishball, pork ball, minced pork, fishcake, 2 leaves of lettuce and topped with the stewed sliced mushrooms. I spotted a container of crispy pork lard and asked for some. The stal assistant gladly added into my bowl. The noodles were al dente and delicious. The ingredients were also good portioned, and I had not just noodles, but some of the fore-mentioned ingredient in each mouthful. The serving size for my order was filling. No regrets trying this stall and I will be back again.Try it! continue reading

Visited their stall today and was greeted by a long queue. I queued up for 20 minutes to purchase a bowl of bak chor mee. Their noodles were very fragrant with a good mix of sauce and vinegar. The soup tasted very sweet. There was a generous amount of ingredients inside and I loved the minced meat. It absorbed the gravy well and tasted really good with the noodles. Vedict: above average and worth a try! $2.50 per bowl. continue reading

This is one of my favourite stall at Alexandra Village. Their Mee sua and bak chor mee is the most famous. They even have advertisments pasting on their stall with the Best bak chor mee title. Selling at $2.50 per bowl, it's one of the stalls that hasn't increase their price even after the renovations. Their mee sua soup, is best eaten when you take away and add some chili padi inside to make it a little bit spicy as the mee sua will absorbed the fragrance of the soup. The soup is not just MSG soup but tasted like they have cooked with some special ingredients for hours. They have a pot which contains all mushrooms and without fail, they will add some inside every dish. One thing to take note is not to visit them on Monday as it's their off day. continue reading
