A friend bought lunch today on 4.9.2014. It would be difficult to get parking at Holland Village even at 12pm so we decided on La Nonna at Namly Place.i had not been here for ages (like 4 or 5 years). they were still having tone 50% ala carte discounts for weekday lunches. We had some bread to start & the parma ham with melon (top photo) was pretty good, nice flavour of aged ham to go with sweet melon & some rockets/mesclun.i liked the . i think they had this classic italian bisque sauce (probably a prawn bisque). it was just slightly creamy & quite tasty & the chilli gave it the kick.My friend liked his ossobucco & risotto. i had this before many years back & remembered that it was 1 of the nice dishes here. i guess it still is. i had not been doing this but I guess La Nonna can be a place to go to some evenings if I want to dine out nearby.See my full reviews & photos at http://chefquak.com/2014/09/04/simply-italian-la-nonna-on-4sep2014/ continue reading

La Nonna is an Italien restaurant and what do Itallians make that are good? Pizza of course! Love the thin crusted, oven baked fresh pizza and this pizza here is the squid ink pizza. Love the flavour and the aroma of the pizza when it is being served up to the table. The pizzas are all made fresh on the spot and the ingredients used are really fresh. Goes really well on its own without the addition of any sauces. continue reading

We visited La Nonna (bukit timah) for dinner and the place was fairly busy. As per recommendations from our friends, we tried their signature dish, the La Nonna Pizza. Its basically a thin crust pizza topped with a sunny side egg, very few stalks of asparagus, truffles, cheese and tomato. While the picture in the menu looked pretty appetizing, the actual pizza served was much less appealing. In fact, it looked downright plain and boring - which it turned out to be. And i felt the stalks of asparagus might as well not be there, it didn't match the taste of the rest of pizza anyway.Otherwise service was decent, and food was served within a reasonable amount of time. continue reading
