I was looking for a stall to buy my lunch from at Kovan Food Centre, and since there was a queue outside this stall, I decided to join the queue to try them out.No sets are available here, so you would have to couple the dishes you would like. I went for the roast pork, pan-fried egg and long beans (Total of $3.50). The long beans were crunchy and juicy, while the egg was a little salty for my liking but contained a good amount of goodies like cai po and lupcheong. The roast pork, depending on preference could either be good or disappointing as it was fairly lean. It also somehow lacked crispiness as well. Despite so, the thick and luscious Hainanese curry was flavourful without being spicy and thus able to cover up the shortcomings. For more photos and the full review, please visit: http://jiaksimipng.wordpress.com/2013/12/08/hougang-hainanese-curry-riceeconomical-bee-hoon-kovan-hougang-food-centre/ continue reading

I live around this area and recently ate this curry rice. It is really addictive! I LOVE the curry that they will drizzle on the rice after ordering all your dishes. Personally i feel that their food all is nice! I tried the brinjal and the big meat ball on another visit and is one of my favourite dishes! The queue is always long so the auntie serving might not always be smiling, but when there is lesser people they will stop to talk to you abit more personally. so its cool! continue reading

On one of our supper hops around areas of Singapore, we decided to explore the part of Singapore that was Kovan. And we decided to finally try the well heard of dish called curry rice. As the name has already mentioned, it is basically rice with curry and dishes that you choose. What makes the curry rice at Kovan special is their fragrant smelling curry which is not too spicy and is hence suitable for even those spicy fearing people. The curry has a rich scent of coconut and is mouth watering. continue reading
