This fish soup stall has quite a bit of a queue, hence I decided to try it. I just ordered a fried fish soup with no noodles/rice, for a light meal. Even though carnation milk was added, it did not lend extra flavor to the soup - perhaps not enough was added. The base soup is more like the teochew kind of soup base, which tends to be lighter in taste. Personally, I will prefer if the soup is fuller in taste, although it might suit those with a lighter taste palate. The fish pieces themselves were a bit hard, perhaps the fried fish has been left out in the open air for quite some time already. Overall, just an average-tasting fish soup.- Fried fish soup, $3.50 continue reading

Was craving for some fish soup the other day and decided to try the fish soup stall from Kovan hawker. I bought the sliced fish soup with mee sua; portion of mee sua was rather large and I did not manage to finish it. The soup was alright, not the best I have tasted. The fish was fresh, but again, only a few slices were given. They could do with more greens, as only 2 pieces of cabbage was included. continue reading

Its been ages since I last come across delicious fish bee hoon soup which has evaporated milk added to it. Not all are nice, depending on the broth and had and also the skills of cooking.Saw quite a long Q at this particular stall today and ever since it open, i've never come across such long q, thus decided to give it a try.Smooth and tender fish slices which are nicely cooked, chewy bee hoon with sweet tasty broth! Hmm... Yummy! Shall try the clear broth on my next visit! continue reading

One of the few stalls with no queue on a Saturday evening in this food centre. I wanted a healthy choice and it seemed fish soup with rice is pretty ideal. The fried fish soup came with quite a few pieces of fish together with a generous portion of veggie. Carnation milk was added to the soup for the milky taste. However, the soup still tasted pretty bland. No distinctive taste nor saltiness were detected, even the milky taste was rather mild. Those pieces of fried fish tasted pretty bland too. Perhaps for the healthy reason, i could not taste much seasoning for the fish. I would suggest to dip them in the belachan chilli or the red cut chillies before eat it with the white rice. The fried fish soup with rice is $4.00. continue reading
