I love this place, they are like a bistro a small cafe in the streets of Paris, but this lovely little joint is just around the Street of Tanjong Katong. They serve mostly westerns meals and they have a whole lot of variety of beers or draft beers to be precise.I have eaten here more than 10 times in the 4 months that I have stayed in Katong and I have never once been dissapointed. They whole a really big serving of burgers that I can barely finish alone, but I still do because it is really good.Their specialty dishes will have "The Works" in their name, and I love ordering Their Big Bad Wolf The works burger, because it has your huge burger patty, which I recommend you have grilled well done, because the thickness of the patty is really a challenge with the grill, ordering medium well might get you a raw middle. So They have a huge patty, topped with Bacons, an over easy egg, cheese, and my favorite part. the caramelized onion, their buns are grilled with butter, and the burger is served with Fries and salad on the side.If you are a french fry fanatic, you should also try their salsa fries, which is a basketfull of fries topped with melted cheese and salsa, which is just delicious and filling as the burgers themselves.Although their bistro is not airconditioned, they keep the place well ventilated and I have not found myself uncomfortable in their vicinity.this joint is a definite must try! continue reading

I have not been back to Tanjong Katong for quite a few years and it seems like a number of new restaurants have established along the stretch of Tanjong Katong Road. I ended up at Big Bad Wolf for my dinner. The Big Bad Wolf Burger comes with fresh all beef patty, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, caramelized onions and special sauce. Love the caramelized onions on top of the beef patty. What best way to enjoy a beautiful burger with a bottle of beer. Big Bad Wolf has a range of Lindemans Fruit Beers which are refreshing lambic beers brewed with real fruits. They have Apple, Kriek (Cherry Flavour) and Pecheresse (Peach Flavour).Big Bad Wolf does not have an extensive menu but the kitchen does come up with different daily special. You can ask the waiter/waitress or refer to the chalk written board. Besides the burger, I also tried their daily special, Lamp Chop and Chilean Mussels. The Lamp Chop was a disappointment. It was bland and sides were boring. However the Chilean Mussels were excellent. The creamy sauce was a perfect match for the big and firm mussels. continue reading

to reach there, a bus can be taken from Paya Lebar MRT station. 10min travel time by bus.from far you will be able to notice the shophouse, it is painted in white with black details, and you will also find the big circular logo with the Big Bad Wolf inside.was quiet for a wednesday evening. the light in the store is quite dim and cosy though.service crew is very friendly, services are quick too. They serve various type of Beer, some seasonal beer too. a great place for Beer lovers! Lindeman's Apple Beer (so refreshing, love fruits beer!)Chicken & Mushroom Burger (Worth Trying but wish the chicken portion is a little bigger, nice thick fries too)Cottage Pie (minced Beef on the base covered with soft Mashed Potatoes, oven baked (if i am not wrong), overall is nice but minced beef can be better)Will back for the Cottage Pie! continue reading

The restaurant promises “The Best Food in the Hood”. BBW is indeed a great place to hang out and the owners pride themselves for serving delicious and affordable food and great pairing of premium belgian beers with food. I must say I am very impressed by the selection of Belgian beers served in BBW, there aren’t many places that can boast that. For more details and photos, visit http://eugeniegene.tumblr.com/post/11938577711/big-bad-wolfI would like to highlight a particular dessert+beer pairing that impressed me a lot. Bailey’s Chocolate Tart- a rich chocolate bailey’s ganache enclosed in a pastry shell, topped with nuts bits. It wasn’t too bad alone, but when paired with this Belgian Trappist beer:The effect was mind blowing. The Trappist Rochefort 6 beer has an intense caramel, coffee like taste which complemented the rich bailey’s chocolate ganache. It intensified the chocolate flavour and gave a satisfying chocolate/alcohol aftertaste.Do not be afraid to ask the staff for recommendations on beer pairing with food. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful in this aspect. Wine lovers are not forgotten, BBW also serves wine and for children, root beer floats are available. The place has something for everyone in the family =) Do look out for it when you are around the Katong area. continue reading

Nestled in between one whole stretch of all sorts of eateries quietly sits Big Bad Wolf, where the Wolf hides slyly in the different corners of the establishment. The menu at Big Bad Wolf isn't the extensive sort, which I prefer, because you can always be sure that the food will all be up to standard. A big, comprehensive menu just gives me a headache from having to play the guessing game.I had perused the reviews online, and walked in knowing just what I was going to order - their signature Big Bad Wolf burger and Cottage Pie, of course!I had meant to order The Works, which was Big Bad Wolf with an addition of fried egg, bacon and cheese(!!), (and I just realized) what arrived on our table was just the Big Bad Wolf The medium done burger I had at Relish was just nice, while the medium-well done burger my boyfriend had was a little too dry for my liking. Using that as a gauge, we opted for just medium for our burger at Big Bad Wolf. Alas, the patty came a little raw but nonetheless still very tasty. The patty was really thick and was just that tiny bit of nicely charred on the outside. The buns were also lightly toasted and went hand-in-hand with the other toppings. The fries and sauce that came on the side was also another winner. They were not at all oily, came piping hot, crisp on the outside and mushy on the inside. I would say they tasted very similar to those at Swensen's.The Cottage Pie arrived at our table in a most adorable little piggy bowl. I didn't think the dish was exceptional, but it was good as well, with a layer of mashed potato hugging the chunky minced beef below. The root beer floats at BBW had a tiny twist to it, giving patrons a choice of vanilla, cookies & cream and chocolate ice cream flavours. It didn't taste too different from those traditional ones from A&W, and finished off the meal very well. The customer service here was excellent. When I accidentally pushed my huge scoop of ice cream downwards which caused the root beer to overflow, one of the staff immediately rushed forward with a dish towel and lots of serviettes. All of them were really friendly and smiley and were always happy to offer us more sauces, or stop for a chat. I also liked that the food came really quickly, and I loved how the theme was injected all over the restaurant - even the toilet sign, which reads 'Restroooom....' had a really cute wolf and red riding hood motifs on it. Big Bad Wolf is indeed real Badass. Thumbs up! continue reading
