Mum picked this place as her Mother's Lunch. We decided to take order ala cart instead of taking the set menu. Realised that it serve Hainaneses dishes. We ordered one of the 2 soups available which is Fish Maw Soup. This tasty soup is a thick broth filled with fish mall and egg. We ordered fried bean sprouts with salt fish which has a nice crunchy texture and fragrant salt fish flavour. The Crispy Fish in Soya Sauce was fried until the bone was crispy. The superior soya sauce goes very well with rice. Highly Recommended. The Pork Ribs came in a foil when opened reveals grilled and tender pork ribs with a bit of sauce.Overall the food is tasty but the ambience is dated and prices are much higher than Zhi Char. continue reading

My neighbour recommended me to this place for the beef noodles which she says is quite authentic and delicious. After some hunting, I finally found the exact directions to the place and went there for dinner. I ordered the dry beef noodles. The dry version comes with a very rich and thick gravy on top of the noodles. Although the gravy looks very thick and strongly flavoured, taste wise is it actually alright, not too saltish. The beef is rather tender, though I had better ones before, but this is also quite ok. I like the chilli as it is sourish which can complement the stronger flavours in the beef noodles. The soup is the one that I appreciate most since it does not seem msg laden and yet is very flavourful. Perhaps I should order the soup version next time! continue reading

Came with some friends as was told that the beef noodle here was good. I wouldn't thought this was a chinese restaurant as their decor looked more towards a western steak house instead. I ordered a dried sliced beef with tendon at $8 and a glass of lime juice with a sour plum inside, very refreshing and nice. The gravy was good and very thick indeed that it coated every strand of the noodle well and the chilli were super and so as the soup was tasty. The only thing was the beef slices were not tender enough. We also ordered a small bowl of yam paste at $13, it was smooth and fragnant and they served with coconut milk. Enjoyed it! continue reading

My hubby told me that he's gonna bring me to a very nice beef noodles place at Marine Parade. I was reluctant as It's too far from where we were at Bukit Merah. But he said it would be worth it.This restaurant was located within the HUDC 'The Leguna Park'. The carpark was $1 per entry. My hubby brought me through this entrance that was so dark that I thought the restaurant was not in operation. But when we got through the second door, I saw the bright interior of restaurant. It was not packed at that time. I realised that the restaurant has another entrance on the other side, a more proper one. It's actually a Hainanese restaurant. We ordered two bowl of beef noodles, one dry and one soup, upsize ($8 per bowl). I ordered the homemade lime juice ($2.50). When I looked around the restaurant and saw that most of the customers ordered the beef noodles. The beef noodles smell nice, didn't have the strong smell of beef (牛肉骚味) like those in the foodcourt. The chilli was spicy and a bit sour, like vinegar. The soup was sweet and tasty. The lime juice was super refreshing.Although it's a little costly, it's worth it! continue reading
