This is the place I always like to visit whenever I crave for Korean BBQ. Located conveniently at Nex, the students' promotion at $16.50 is reasonably affordable considering each person gets to enjoy a free bowl of Ginseng Chicken Soup. The buffet selection is adequate, with around 10 different kinds of cooked food such as yummy glass noodles and spicy rice cakes. The raw section also provides well marinated meat and seafood along with and fresh vegetables. Overall, although the service was pretty bad and there's much to be improved in the attitude aspect of the wait staff, it was a delicious experience anyway! continue reading

Crystal Jade Korean BBQ at Nex was 1 of our favourite place for family eating out.We visited the restaurant quite a few times, last visit prior to this was on this year Fathers' Day.However the experience was totally different. We were early as we do not like crowds. We were very disappointed that the raw food section was so empty. They did not top up the raw food until about 12.45pm when a bigger group came in.Can you imagine seeing just a few pcs of beef balls, mushrooms etc.. on the trays and only 1 egg on the tray.It dampens our mood, ended up we ate more of their cooked food rather then the BBQ (which our main intention is to BBQ).Lettuce provided not fresh, a lot of them has rotten. Prawns not fresh, head loose, shelf soft soft type....don't dare to take.A tray of flower crabs but only 1 'gong' . The red bean dessert used to be thick, now it is diluted making it tasteless.Clearing of dishes was slow despite only a few tables. Staff face very 'black', no smile.Spent closed to $100 for 3 adults and 1 child (lunch rates) to receive this kind of food and service, totally not acceptable.Rate do include 3 types of soft drinks and hot tea (make you own).My suggestion : Please take a look at the buffet counter before you decide, which we regretted as we trusted Crystal Jade quality. continue reading

Even Crystal Jade now does Korean BBQ despite them being totally non-korean. Anyway, the cooked food section was decent with stuff like fried prawns and noodles. Save your stomach for the steamboat and korean bbq. I really like the spicy BBQ pork because of its spices and marination. The steamboat section was so-so with stuff like beef strips and bacon bits. Free ginseng soup (one each) per customer! I still prefer Goki Day though. continue reading

Was hoping to get a good dinner before my annual in camp training tomorrow. Saw this korean BBQ outlet at NEX. It was by Crystal Jade and it also comes with a steamboat. Based on my past good experience with their offerings ( especially xiao long bao and their mala steamboat buffet) , i decided to give it a try. However, soon i discovered i made a wrong decision. The moment that i was brought to my seat, i found that the so called BBQ plate was just being changed. However, the side of the stove was not cleaned at all. Still can see some residue from the previous patrons. The variety of meat offered for BBQ was quite limited. Unlike most of the korean BBQ that i went , they only used a standard kind of marination. Very disappointing. The worst part was that the lettuce ( supposed to be the important part of any Korean BBQ) was not refilled at all. The condiment section was also a huge disappointment. This was the 1st time that i encountered such a limited choice of sauces and condiments for steamboat buffet. Only chilli padi, minced garlic, soy sauce and chilli sauce. It doesnt even have the sauce for the BBQ~~ It was really one of the worst korean BBQ that i had ever eaten and it actually cost me $32! continue reading

Really disappointing and I shall never eat at this restaurant again. It is more of a local bbq then korean bbq... The fried glass noodles is totally tasteless and the rice cakes are so soft, not chewy at all. There is quite a variety of cooked food but nothing satisfactory as they served local food like fried rice, fried instant noodles, chicken wings etc. But the fried noodles is much more better than the glass noodles. For the meats, they only have a few selections but included all types like pork, beef, fish... The pork slices are all frozen and sticking together as a huge piece. Although there are a few kinds of marination, but all of the marinated meat tasted the same. Salty and Spicy. The essence of having korean bbq is the lettuce that goes with meat. However, the lettuce was not even refilled when it is running low. What left behind was only some rotten lettuce. The bbq also comes with a steamboat. The soup was so salty that it really tasted water with MSG. (though i admit that they served quite a variety of yong tau foo stuff for the steamboat.)The only good thing about the whole meal was the complimentary bowl of ginseng soup. Other than that, i believed that it does not worth $32 per pax for such a meal. continue reading
