Ready for some awesome porridge boiled from the charcoal ? Let's do your order over the counter. FoodGiven the choice of 2 types of raw fishes, I had chosen Si Dao Fish.Si Dao Raw Fish comes with 3 other colors that makes the dish such presenting. With The shredded ginger, cut chills and spring onions to reduce the smell of what raw fishes give. Together with the fragrance of sesame oil. It makes a great plate of fish sashimi! Costs: S$5.30These Barley Drinks are home made with the barley grains sinking at the bottom of the cup. Cost: S$1.30 per cupBowls of gluely porridge with spring onions as its garnishing. Customers can add pepper and soya sauce freely.Shredded chicken porridge consists of fine shredded chicken all over in the bowl of porridge, however I prefer thicker shredded chicken as it will give me more "bite" and the kick, else it doesnt taste like having chicken. Cost: S$3.75Abalone and sliced fish porridgeCost: S$4.80ServiceService is quite fast and average.AmbienceLocated as shop houses. The crowd and human traffic are still alright. However the irritating scene during my meal was those houseflies that flied around my food. PricePrice is reasonable and acceptable.Recommendations / TipsBecareful of the hot porridge. continue reading

A regular of Ah Chiang's porridge, we will usually try to eat there at least once a month. I like the taste of food cooked over charcoal, and Ah Chiang's porridge is no exception. The mixed pork porridge and fish stomach porridge is a must try.The raw fish is fresh, and the you tiao does not have an oily aftertaste.Always go in the morning, which is the best time to have piping hot porridge, and also the perfect time to soak in that nostalgic feel in the old Tiong Bahru estate. continue reading

I visited ah chiang porridge 4 times. And i decided that i should include this 4th visit that I made to ah chiang. Not sure whether this review would be published as I wrote one just an hour plus ago. That was the second visit, and this is the last visit / fourth visit I made to AH chiang. Realised I had much better photos for this visit, so decided that I should write another review and post the photos.Had the raw fish this time round. Marvelous, whoever thought of eating raw fish must have been pretty famished and upon eating it, must have felt like he or she was in heaven. This is the pork porridge that my friend had.Mine was the usual fish belly porridge. Still prefer fish belly porridge from maxwell market, zhen zhen. But well, i dont have to wait 45min for this bowl of porridge, so I am not complaining. The porridge here is quite comparable to those offered in Crystal jade. Of course not as fine and smooth, but well cheaper and pretty good too. continue reading

THis porridge sold at more than $3 per bowl is served piping hot. This stall is popular amongst people who love porridge. The porridge is well cooked and not those with rice and water added. It is not too salty which I like as not a lot of soy sauce was added to it. I however found it a little dry at times and sticky as it was cooked and boiled till the rice molecules were very fine. Overall still good to try and the serving is sufficient for a meal. continue reading

Having my Ah Chang porridge again. Using charcoal to cook the porridge, it has a thick porridge taste. With the minced meat, the whole porridge is superb. The minced meat is nicely pondered and cooked. It is not too tough to be consumed. However, their price has recently increased as there is a G.S.T of $0.25 incurred. continue reading
