The chosen lunch venue today was The House of Robert Timms, which is an Australian Restaurant / cafe serving gourmet coffee and wholesome Australian-styled food cooked with only the freshest ingredients (at least that's what their website proclaims).Over here, the service staff are rather friendly and helpful as well. As we were walking past the bar counter seats, we passed by these rows of gourmet coffee and extremely koala bears on sale. Anyway we had initially wanted to try the kangaroo and curry crocodile dishes, which I'd seen in the menu before, only to realize that they have just changed the menu.Well, we still got to try my kangaroo. This is the Kangaroo Loin Steak (SGD$40.00), served with zucchini, green beans and carrots with a side of mashed potato. The meat is not very tender, and tastes to me like a cross between veal and pork. It had the same sweet overture and chewy-ness, and the red wine sauce we chose sweetened the dish up further, sealing in the red meat's natural delicious flavor. In lieu of crocodile meat, we took up the manager's recommendation of Braised Short Ribs in Stout Sauce (SGD$32.00) - served with vegetables and mashed potatoes on the side as well. The first thing that hit me when I tasted this dish was the tenderness of the meat. Never a fan of ribs under most circumstances, the meltingly soft texture of this simply blew me away. Then the strong, bittersweet flavor of black beer registered, adding a touch of goodness to the luscious meat. For full review and more photos, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/09/lunch-at-house-of-robert-timms-bistro.html continue reading

The tenderloin is $42 which is rather expensive but the steak was soooo thick and juicy. I had it cooked medium and the centre was more raw. The steak came with broccoli and beans which tasted average. The corn on the cob was lightly grilled and was sweet and juicy. Highlight of this dish has got to be the delicious steak which was well-seasoned and tender. continue reading

After dinner, we walk along Orchard Road & then head over to Robert Timms for coffee & desserts cos we were attracted by the cute latte arts, as well as the pretty desserts on displayHowever, we were disappointed when the menu were presented to us. Most of the desserts on the menu was not available! The art on the latte were indeed cute.Since I don't drink coffee, I opt for Hot Chocolate. Sadly, the hot chocolate is totally tasteless! No even a hint of chocolate & it just taste like hot tasteless milk. continue reading

My friend suggested this Cafe for after dinner drinks. We were attracted by the cute Latte art on the menu displayed at their entrance. The desserts on display also looks pretty enticing, so we decided to check it out.I had the Robert Timms Chocolate Frappe $7.40++. Gosh they made their beverage soooo sweet! Even after mixing in all the whip cream on top, it was still overly sweet! Definitely not my cup of tea.My friend who had the Hot Chocolate $5.80++ complains that her drink was very bland, no chocolate taste at all. Another thumbs down.Hazelnut Latte $6.50++ with the cute bear bear, also too sweet...Caffe Latte $6.00++ with the lion head...I didn't hear any complains on this though. On top of unsatisfactory drinks, many dessert items on the menu were unavailable as well. We ended up just drinking lousy coffee! No more next time For full review - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2013/10/after-dinner-coffee-at-house-of-robert.html continue reading

4 of us were looking for a place to chat and have some coffee when a friend suggested Roberts timms. It's located at Orchard Shopping center, just mins away from somerset MRT and 313. It wasn't crowded when we were there at 8.30pm but shortly after we were seated, many people came strolling in. It's good that they are open till late ~ The menu has some great snacks to offer but we were there for the coffee and cute coffee art!! One of my friend even ask the staff to get the barista to draw all different art for us ~! hahaha... We were really happy to see the cute animals on our coffee!! We ordered a Flat white, 2 lattes and one vanilla latte Service of the wait staff was great! continue reading
