Shen Xi Soup has expanded in various food court and now the cantonese style hong kong slow boiled soup is readily available in the neighbourhood.I ordered the pig intestines with ginko nuts soup together with a bowl of yam rice. The yam and soy sauce flavoured rice was very enjoyable together with the bowl of hot soup. The clear and pork rib based soup came with a delectable peppery flavours which went went with the rice. continue reading

Like to drink the lotus roots soup from this stall as the soup base is always full of the sweetness from the sliced lotus roots and the herbal used in it is also very fragrant. The lotus roots are not overly cooked which you can still taste the crunchiness of it. The pork ribs are very soft and the meat is also tender. Great to have it with a bowl of their fragrant plain rice or their signature pumpkin rice as well. continue reading

I love all types of steamed soups and my favourite is Shen Xi Soup. There are many stalls in different parts of Singapore. I am working at Jurong so i frequent this stall very often. My choice is always the lotus roots with pork ribs soup. The soup is very concentrated and thick. It must be the result of steaming for many hours to obtain such a standard. The ingredients like lotus roots and pork ribs are quite generous. I always ordered white rice to go with it. continue reading
