I was quite excited when I saw that Eng Ho Hokkien Mee ($3/4/5/8) was one of the hawker dishes to be voted as a dish to compete with Chef Ramsay. So I told myself that I must give this store a try!I ordered a plate. The wait was super long. I figured I waited around 30 minutes. My dinner khaki had all finished their food and only after was I served with my plate of Hokkien Mee. The smell from the hot and steamy plate was so awesome. I dug my chopsticks into the beehoon and mee combo. It was moist and slippery. The fragrant and the hinge of lime that I squeezed in was all so perfect. The sotong and prawn were all very fresh. Overall, it's a thumb up. Pretty worth the wait. continue reading

I went there right after my work so I reached at about 7 pm, after a bus ride of 4 stops. So for this peak period, I waited for about 20 minutes for the food. The hawker chef cooks the noodles in batches because there are simply so much orders at one time. Personally, I find the place a little inaccessible to the public that do not stay in Ang Mo Kio. But after trying the hokkien mee, I have to say it is indeed worth it to drop by once in a while and savour one of the best hokkien mee in Singapore. Next you'll find the version of Hokkien Mee to be wetter with lots of moisture locked in the noodles through the process of simmering the noodles. The hawker prepares a wholesome pool of broth using prawns as the main ingredient, integrates them into the noodles in his huge wok, and after which allows it some time to simmer under a well-controlled fire source. I presonally enjoy the the wetter version of the hokkien mee because it doesn't taste too dry. The soup sauce makes every mouthful of noodles really silky smooth and there was no need for effort to chew before the noodles glide down your throat.Broth aside, the Hokkien Mee comes with fresh ingredients like thin pork slice (I had only a piece in my plate) and a few pieces of fresh prawns and sotong slices. The ingredients were all fresh enough for a good hawker standard. View full review on http://www.chiamhuiy.com/2013/07/eng-ho-fried-hokkien-prawn-mee-teck.htmlCeline Chiam continue reading

This is one of the stalls that got a queue during dinner. I joined in out of the curiousity. I gave my order and returned to my table. It was served in 5 minutes. They replaced the thick bee hoon with the thin one and fried well with the yellow noodle in savory prawn stock. The texture was moist with ingredients like prawns and squids. They added quite a handful of fried pork lards to enhance the overall taste. This is one of the nicest fried hokkien prawn noodle in Ang Mo Kio. continue reading

This is one of the most popular stalls in this food centre and this is one of the most talked about fried hokkien prawn mee in Ang Mo Kio area too. Long queue can be spotted during the dinner and weekends. I was there at about 8 pm and the queue was still there. I waited for a bit before ordering. I paid up and given my table number. I waited for another 15 minutes or so before a friendly Uncle delivered it to my table. This stall did not use the thick bee hoon but the thin one to fried with the yellow noodle in tasty prawn stock with ingredients like egg, prawns and squids. The sambal chill has got a well-balanced spiciness and it goes well with the noodles. A good choice. continue reading
