I was in tha Ang Mo Kio area and was looking around for a good chicken rice stall.I came across this recommendation and decided to try them out.My first choice of white chicken is sold out, so I went with the roast chicken and also ordered their lemon chicken chop rice to try. Here's the verdict:- Roast Chicken Chicken Rice: The rice is slightly fragrant, and was alright, The chicken was not bad. You can order the meal as a set, which will cost $4.50 and it comes with a side of vegetables and your chicken and rice will be served in different plates. It comes with a ginger sauce that is quite salty and the chilli sauce is potent.- Lemon Chicken Chop Rice: They use the same chicken rice as the one above. It was a deep fried chicken chop and I couldn't taste the lemon flavour at all. I wonder if they are supposed to drizzle some lemon sauce over the chicken chop? The chicken rice came with a bowl of cabbage soup, which is healthier than the usual chicken soup you normally get at other stalls. They also have porridge available, which I see many customers at other tables ordering. Will try that the next time.I spent $3 per person. continue reading

I was delivering presents to my friend’s daughter’s 1st year, and we met up for lunch at Ang Mo Kio area.I saw a long queue for this stall so decided to check it out, we ordered Hainanese “White” Chicken Rice and Roast Chicken Rice. The glossy boiled chicken was oily from the server’s heavy handed drizzling of sesame oil as he seems to be in a rush to clear the queue. Although the meat tastes well cooked and tender, I didn’t like how some of the meat (especially the bone area) had blood strains/stains.The beansprouts underneath the chicken was literally dripping with oil. A pity because I tried some and they were crunchy. Some parts of the roasted chicken was actually crispy , mainly it was very flavourful and tender but again unfortunately that same mistake of going overdone with the sesame oil ruined it for me.The rice was lacking of the “chicken rice fragrance” , it didn’t taste as good as it looks. MAYBE this rice could use a little boost of sesame oil instead! And that’s what I did, drizzled abit from the oily chicken dishes and it did a little salvaging.Despite the queue, either it’s overrated or it’s just a different case of personal preference. continue reading

The FoodI ordered the chicken rice with chicken breast meat as I don't like bones. This chicken breast is succulent and soft and rice was fragrant and not so oily since is cooked with vegetable oil instead of chicken oil. The chilli sauce also spicy and nice with a tinge of sourness !!The ServiceDuring peak hours, there will always be long queue and is self-serviceThe AmbienceAs the stall is located at Hawker Center hence is well-ventilated.The PriceValue for money at $2.50 only !!OverallI will definitely come back again to try the lemon chicken rice and highly recommended to try for all chicken rice lovers !! continue reading

It was one of those days when i do not mind joining a queue. I decided to get the thai chicken cutlet rice. The chicken cutlet tasted over fried. It was a bit dry and hard. It served with achar and cucumber. The rice did not have much fragrant nor flavor. It tasted like plain rice. The thai chilli complemented the chicken cutlet and it tasted better too. It came with a bowl of cabbage soup. continue reading

My friend introduce me to cheng mei chicken rice. the chicken rice here is indeed delicious. The rice is so fragrant. it was not too oily. The rice texture is just right, not too soft a little chewy too. The chicken is very tender, it is not too dry. The skin is not too fatty too. The chicken rice actually taste very tasty too. What I like most is their chilli. Love the garlic flavor in it. The chilli was pretty sour and spicy but it was very appetizing, it really opens up your appetite. continue reading
