I've eaten at Toast Box numerous times - often going for the same fare that was proven good: Curry Chicken, Mee Siam and Ice Teh. This time round, I've decided to break routine, and try the Laksa, which my mum claimed was the "thick" creamy kind. And Mum was right!!! I saw that Bee Tai Mak was a noodle option, hence decided to break routine further by ordering this noodle. Queer as it was, the taste and texture turned out surprisingly pleasant! There were many Taupoks in the laksa, which pleased me very, very much! Laksa SHOULD always be accompanied with LOTS of Taupoks!!! How else to be fair to the yummy gravy?!?!?!?! The other standard items were all there - fishcake, prawn, egg etc. On this note, it would be totally awesome if the egg used could be that of those found in Ramen! Woah...(somebody bring me back...) Yes, I got back! Haha! Throw in a barley drink, and you'll have a set! The barley drink complements the laksa very well, as it was not overly-sweet and thick. A good thirst-quencher and balance to the rich laksa! If there's anything to improve, go easy on the ice cubes! Total Cost: Laksa Set - $6.50 continue reading

We went to TOAST BOX located at Causeway Point for tea break. I ordered the Teh-C (tea with milk) with less sugar. It costs around $1.40 for the cup of tea which tasted great. I like the aroma fragrance of the tea and the smooth taste of the tea with milk. We found seats quite quickly as the shop was quite empty in the afternoon. There was no queue for the drinks as well. continue reading

My favourite dish from Toastbox is undoubtedly the mee siam. It's not cooked in the typical way with a clear broth. Instead, the gravy is thicker and milkier than normal. It's easy to finish the whole dish in a matter of minutes! The curry chicken is a little expensive, but satisfies cravings pretty well. I like that they offer barley water together with their sets to make the meal slightly healthier. continue reading

Brought a set of toast with 2 hard boiled egg and a drink.Ordered the Peanut spread toast. The toast was made on the spot when ordered. When eating, the toast was still hot, and it was well toasted as it has a crispy texture. As for the peanut spread, it has a smooth and rich peanut taste. As for the hard boiled egg, the size was above expectation as it was quite big in size. The timing of cooking the egg was just nice as from the texture of the egg, it was well cooked not too long nor short. But when eating, the egg was not that hot.Lastly as for the drink, I ordered barely. It is a refreshing drink especially during a hot day. The barely taste was there, just nice, not too thick nor bland. The sweetness is also acceptable.Overall, quite a good high tea at Causeway Point Toast Box. continue reading
