The FoodI ordered the Pek Lor Mee ("White braised noodle"). The taste and appearance looks and taste different from the usual Lor Mee. It had egg noodles in a thick seafood broth and I found it a bit too salty for my taste buds but the ingredients- kang kong and small prawns are all very fresh. They have 7 different types of chilli for certain noodles hence is quite unique as we can have our own combination of sauces. The PriceSlightly over-priced at $5.80 for small portion which is not enough to fill my stomach.OverallI will definitely come back again to try other variety of noodles and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

Everywhere is crowded and I am very hungry. Its almost 2pm and I haven't have my lunch or breakfast yet. Ended up here. After ordering and paying at the cashier, I am given a number. Has to wait for the number to flash on the LED panel to collect my food at the counter next to the cashier. The assorted specially made condiments available, labelled 1 to 7. Tried the 3. nutty chilli, wow super spicy. Please take note there is a condiments chart on the table using the above sauces on different version of noodles. The condiments were clearly numbered to make it for diners to follow their recommendations.Mee Kang Kong : 3Pek Lor Mee : 4 or 5Mee Soto : 1 + 6 + 7Mee Ayam : 1 or 4Mee Kikil : 2 + 6 + 7Mee Bakso : 2 + 6 + 7Mee Ayam (pork version) ($4.30)Thin noodles tossed in a sesame oil and chicken broth dressing, topped with minced pork, mushrooms, boiled greens and crunchy fried shallots. The springy noodle is like thinner version of mee poh. Would prefer the pork to be in smaller pieces, instead of in lumps.Mee Ayam (chicken version) ($4.30)Thin noodles tossed in a sesame oil and chicken broth dressing, topped with chicken cubes, mushrooms, boiled greens and crunchy fried shallots.Hot Barley ($1.20)Seem to be the version that is cooked very thick and added hot water to dilute.Taukwa Pok ($2.50)Dried bean curd mixed in a very watery sauce. Spicy and tangy in taste. Reminds me of rojak.Chendol ($2.50)The green chendol jelly looks fresh and taste good. continue reading

I go to Northpoint for Dinner today. When I notice this stall selling several dishes of Indonesia' pushcart noodles and street snacks. I order the Mee Kangkong Combo set, come with a cup of homemade warm Barley drink. The Indonesian way of cooking noodles are very different as the local style. I like the taste that they always use the lime juice to enrich their cuisine in order to increase eaters’ appetite. I really enjoy eating their noodles with Kang Kong which is very rare find in our local cuisine. The price is $4.80 per set. continue reading

i tried this Indonesian noodle place for the first time using Voucher. I ordered Mee Ayam among few of other choices. The bowl of noodle came wtih sliced mushroom, chicken chunks and vegetable. The taste was a disappointment. It tasted quite bland. I tried to add in few of those sauces available and hopefully it could be better. Apparently it still tasted quite the same. I do not know how to appreciate such noodle and this shall be the first and only time to visit. continue reading

Obtained the voucher via Groupon to try the Indonesia style noodle for the first time. This shall be an entirely new experience for us as we have never tasted such noodle before. We went on a Saturday for lunch. The place was rather quiet with only a few tables occupied then. This noodle place is serving 6 types of noodle, side dishes, desserts and drinks. The voucher entitled us to 2 drinks, 2 noodles and a side dish. We ordered a hot barley ($1.20), an iced lemon tea ($1.20), Mee Kang Kong ($5.20), Mee Ayam ($4.80) and Taukwa Pok ($2.50).After ordering, a number was given. We were expected to pick up the foods once our number was displayed on the LED panel. We collected our drinks and took our seat. We waited for about 5 minutes for the foods to be ready. The Taukwa Pok was served later to our table. The first impression of Mee Kang Kong somehow reminded me of Mee Rebus. It tasted quite similar as well. The gravy tasted a little sweet but the sweetness balanced up by the sourness of lime. The thick gravy goes well with the noodle. Mee Ayam served with veggie, mushroom and chicken pieces. It tasted a little bland. I added in the hot chilli sauce to spice it up a little but it did not make much difference though the spiciness of chilli was a little intense. We were given an option to choose in between the spicy and non-spicy version for the Taukwa pok. We opted for the non-spicy version. It tasted a little like the rojak but minus the prawn paste and peanut taste. I would prefer the iced lemon tea to the hot barley as the hot barley tasted a little diluted with very minimum sweetness. It was a pleasant lunch. We might come back again if happen to be in the vicinity the next time. continue reading
