Happened to chance upon this place next to OG.. As ramen santouka was closed at 11plus am.. The soup broth is very fragrant with the black garlic oil but isn't as thick as I would like it to be like ramen keisuke.. The pork cutlet was so good $7.. We had to order 2 more! freshly fried and absolutely delicious! their lunch sets during weekdays are only $6.. Wish I could come and try that out! looks super value for money!Their gyozas are so so, nothing fancy. continue reading

Stumbled into this ramen stall while shopping at OG, I was confused by the many many types of ramen in the menu. So I asked and this is what they explained to me. There are only two soup types, black garlic (non-spicy) and red oil (spicy). Then you can choose if you want 1 or 5 slices of pork. Then the choices are if you want normal green onions (Ramen), or with shredded green white onions (Negi Ramen), or with Vege and corn (Hachi Fuku Maru Ramen). They are fried cutlet version and other rice options but the main focus are ramen.Another plus point is that their char-shui is really tender and flavourful too! In my opinion, better than Baikohken in Taka.I love their soft eggs too. They serve theirs chilled and in a small saucer, very cute indeed. We won't travel there specially for their ramen but if in the area, we'll be there! continue reading

Lacated inside Orchard OG,level one, this is definitely a great for a quiet lunch. When I entered the shop, there is only another male customer other than me. However as the place is, the service here is relatively warm. I was greeted when I sat down and when my food is served.I ordered a curry rice lunch set and it costs only $6 inclusive of GST and service charge. Cheap as It's, the food serving is not small. Average rice portion with a palm size chicken katsu and of cos the yummilious Japanese curry. On top of that, there is also a half boilded egg and a bowl of seaweed soup served together. It was a hearty cheap lunch. Do try it if you are around the area during lunch time and wanted to find a quiet place to avoid the lunch crowd. continue reading

A super big bowl of ramen and i feel that it is very worth the price. It cost $15I ordered the Hachifukumaru ramen with black oil base which is not spicy. You could choose between the black oil base or the red oil base which is hot and spicy. This ramen that i ordered is very colourful and healthy as it consists of alot of different types of vegetables. They include bean sprout, cabbage, corn, carrot, etc. I really like their soup base as it is sweet and rich in flavour. Their ramen is cooked just nice, not being too hard. I am very surprise by how generous they are with their ramen and ingredients. It is indeed a super big bowl that i have difficulty finishing it. There is a lunch special whereby we could top up a dollar to add a side and i choose the gyoza. The set also include a cup of tea which is refillable. The dinning area is actually quite small but there wasn't alot of people when my colleagues and I went there for lunch at around 2pm on a weekday. Our food was served quite fast too. I would really recommend their ramen! Go have a try! continue reading

I knew about this ramen place through Groupon promotion, then only I know it is there quite sometime. It is under Nantsuttei group which have one famous ramen at Parco Marina@Milliniea Walk.Understand from its website, the broth for the soup is chicken based. However they do serve char siew which is pork. I bought $30 worth voucher for $18 at Groupon. We got 2 Hachifukumaru Ramen, then topped up with roasted char siew and flavored egg. We got gyoza too.Hachifukumaru Ramen($13++) - Healthier ramen choice with eight bounties of nature, cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, ginger, nira, corn, negi and garlic. You can choose between 3 oil - black garlic oil, black negi oil and red chili oil. I got the black garlic oil, it smelled good. The portion of ramen is quite a lot for me, so when I finished it, I was so full.Soup base not that salty which suite me. The char siew is good too.For details review, do visit http://rainfooddiary.blogspot.sg/2013/07/hajifukumaru.html continue reading
