Pear and Apple Pork Ribs Soup(+) Our 2nd visit to this stall and the quality certainly held up to standard as expected.(+) The pork ribs were tender and soft and love the crunchy tendons especially.(+) The soup was mildly sweet, owing to the natural sweetness of pear and apple.(+) Very appetizing and could not stop scurrying my spoon for another mouthful!(+) Despite the wholesome and rich flavours, did not leave us thirsty, i.e. no MSG.(+) The soup was luscious, nourishing and full-bodied to say the least.(-) The ribs were tender but not quite as much compared to our last visit, though I had to include that our last visit was done in the evening, which probably allowed the meat to simmer for a couple more hours. That being said, I could probably attest to the fresh ingredients used. Verdict: 8.5/10 continue reading

This set of soup and pumpkin rice is filling for a meal and I like the rice especially. Adding just 30 cents more, you can upgrade your plain white rice to pumpkin rice which has a stronger and richer flavour. THe soup is boiled for long though I find it slighty salty. The pear bits were boiled till soft and has a sweet pear taste and goes well with rice. The meat in the soup though little blends well with the soy sauce and rice. Overall, a healthier choice of all hawker food continue reading

Was curious at the selections of soup from this stall and after reading through it, it just reminded me so much of good home boiled soup. There were many people queuing and they were mainly elderly and I trusted their taste buds and so I went for it too.I ordered a apple and pear with pork ribs soup along with a bowl of rice at $5. The soup was so well brewed, sweet and thick. The pork ribs were so tender till it fell apart from the bone easily. I really enjoyed it and finished every drop of it. continue reading

You get to see more and more stalls selling different types of double boiled soups all over Singapore. But how many of you know this stall is the original stall of Master Shen Xi? I queued up countless times right at this stall ordering few different types of their famous double boiled soup. One of my usual favourite has to be the lotus root with pork ribs soup. They must have been boiled for hours to achieve such a texture. The pork ribs tasted really soft and flavourful. The lotus roots and peanuts tasted equally nice. continue reading
